You saved my ass. I have a college project due next week that's basically building an overcomplicated geometric shape that makes us think of a song we like. I made this (a bit tricky in the corners, but I got there) and I'm gonna pick "Kids" from Stranger Things as the song for it. Thank you 10/10 awesome tutorial!
That's cool. I googled 5 platonic solids... I see they are 4,6,8,10, and 20 sided. Makes me think of the facets that a diamond cutter creates, but I guess he's just covering a surface with multiple facets. Thanks.
I have not made this, but I was lucky enough to move around inside one and I briefly looked at how it was made. This can be taken apart for transport and storage. You need 30 dowel rods. Calculate the dowel length by taking the desired height of the completed project (72 inches) and divide by the Golden Ratio (1.618) = about 44.5" However, if you are intending to move inside it, make it bigger, so you have room. I'd like one that is 6'8" tall (the height of a standard door), which means the dowels would be 49.44 " Find a hose that the dowels rods will fit into snugly. You might look in the plumbing section of a home improvement store, or in refrigerator replacement parts.) The dowels fit into bits of hose at the vertices of the icosahedron. The bits of hose were each a couple inches long. The vertices of the one I played with were sort of hot-glued-and-rubber-banded together. I don't remember if they used 5 short pieces, or 2 longer ones and 1 short one, to create each 5-part vertex. Let me know if you figure this part out! The flexibility of the hose will correct for some errors.
@@anniejuan1817 Thanks a lot! Since making this post, I enquired around and managed to find someone, they run a 3D shop and the joiners will be made from recycled plastic designed in a 3D printer, and will be able to transport. We are making it around 6’8 too. How did it make you feel when you inside it?
@@swancrow6339 I was only in it for a moment or two, and I hadn't started studying LMA, so it wasn't as meaningful as it would be now. Are you willing to share where you are getting the connectors created? Also, I realized that the calculations I did above did not account for the connectors, and that those lengths might result in a slightly bigger icosahedron than intended.
Because icosahedron is one of the platonic solid it represent water element and it is part of the sacred geometry which is the creation of yhe universe
Хоть это видео и опубликовано 11 лет назад, оно мне очень помогло. По информатике задали сделать любую модель, но совсем ничего не получается. Посмотрела это видео, думаю сейчас всё получиться 😢
Thank You So Much....I was very tensed about how I will make the project but you made it easy and simple..... Thanks a lot.....
Neat. This opens up all kinds of ideas for simple things to make.
This is awesome! I'll definitely do this for my Geometry assignment. Thanks for the idea!
Oh, Yes!! I'm so using this for my Laban Movement Analysis studies!
Can't Wait To Make This And Share With My 7 yr. young Niece. I Thank You For Sharing♦️💚
Thank you so much, this project is made easy to do, no rulers or pens needed. 🎉
This is such a pretty shape. I love pentagons.

Lol
Nice idea
Thanks man, hug from Brazil 🇧🇷
The principle which you used was very simple
cosplay research takes you to the weirdest places
almost worked but I didn't do a pentagon at the start I did a hexagon
if you do that, you could tesselate the entire world.
Hello my old account... it's me, You... do you remember me... i know you do WE ARE THE SAME PERSON
A guy That draws are you kidding me?
No one cares
Beautiful! ❤️
Stacy Dilsen would be proud.
Can I use this to make head of a BACTERIOPHAGE ???

Would do it to assign my kids!
genius! by the way i want a truncated icosahedron(football)
Tq for my model 😍🤗
U r work is very awesome!! For best results which gum should be used????
How to make rectrangle with cotton buds
I suggest using wooden ones cuz the plastic ones I used just disintegrated
any help on how i can make a 6ft one of these that i can stand in?

Because you commented on it seven years ago and some bozo replied, notifying you to check the reply and, this, see the video again.

is Platonic solids lend to justice and democracy?
How this use?
It's useful as a teaching tool for a number of different subjects, starting with geometry.
Now you need to truncate it somehow
SO COOL!
