i keep coming back to the kato. its like the dan clark audio Aeon 2 noir. they sound okay at first impressions but the subtleness of what they offer is pure beauty. kato was like 'meh they're good' but after spending time with them its just love.

Interesting that you did this now. I too had my Kato put away for a while. I pulled them back out to A/B them against the IKKO Asgard OH5. The OH5 are indeed better but the Kato get almost too close for comfort!

I ve tried almost top tier iem in any price range from 20 to 500 and yet, when i go back to kato, i feel like home
The matte steel are really pretty. I love my kato
I usually prefer neutral, and used my Kato for 6 months with the steel filters and plastic tips. But I got curious and tip rolled and landed on the brass nozzles and small foam tips. The small foam tips are too small for my ears, but I'm able to etymotic penetrate deeper. And it's heaven.
@Face Changer ymmv but I use them a lot and have had them for a while and they still work and look perfect.
I went with the brass nozzles and the biggest foam tips (I have big ears) and liked them, but now I'm using some composite tips (that came with some $30 Tozos bluetooth earbuds) and it's perfect. I'm not impressed by the spring tips that came with the Katos. They don't seal in my ear at all, they sound like cheap wired earbuds that you get at the dollar store in my ears.
Just picked up the blue set and the iFi go Blue just two months ago for my travels and they are great.
The blue KATO are HOT! I remember the last time I had to go to the library and read the press release for the blue KATO. I sat on a chair in the corner and just drooled!
okay ... finally bought them ... and damn are they good! Still cannot decide which tube I like more though ...
I just got back in to the IEM game last month after giving my wallet a break for several years. The Aria Snow was my introduction into the world of Chi-fi and the Kato followed within a week and the Snow went to my daughter. Now I'm hooked again. The Kato blew my mind. Coming from the Westone W-30 from forever ago to these was mind altering. I just don't know where to go after this. Do I try the Blessing 2 dusk or the Variations next, or... But like you, I love the DD for it's cohesiveness and bass reproduction. Although, I would like to try the SA6 ultra if they every do another run!!!

OK. This convinced me to just buy the Kato in spite of all the new stuff. I've been holding off on purchasing a new IEM for daily carry for a few years now, but my current stuff are dying.
Been on my radar since they released but just didn't need new IEM's at the time.

Moondrop Beautiful World fixes all the issues the Original Kato had but sadly it's only a limited edition run at an expensive price. Thanks to HBB for his giveaway I got a pair and can literally confirm the added modular cable is so nice because of 4.4mm balanced output. They touched up the tuning a little too so it more closely followed Moondrops VDSF Target and they changed the shell design on the side that touches your ear back to the old KXXS design of being smooth so comfort is a little better for side sleeping or resting.
Have to say if they sold the Beautiful World IEM by itself without the collectors edition stuff and wood box for like $250, they'd probably sell out instantly because they are just a straight upgrade to the Kato that people have been wanting for years.
It's hard to get actually details on the BW as being limited it's not well reviewed but a rep told me the diamonds are real, VS grade very low carat though. They aren't open back as the driver is sealed and vented. The share the same driver but maybe a different voice coil, slightly different sensitivity and distortion specs. Tuning is different. Made of Platinum and Hollow Silver both really high quality metals built to last and the Kato Nozzles work on the BW.

I bought the Katos because of this video and I love them (brass tips for me). Now I'm about to get the Jojos because of CAM's video today. (edit to mention I got my Katos from Apos open box for $137 out the door. And they're perfect.)

The 2 pin terminations look like they will slide completely in. Not just the tip.
Be Warned!!! Matte Steel is sharp on the corners.

there's a pointy bit after the alphabet O in the KATO that rests in your ear which can hurt. Might not be for everyone's ears but did for me. and the edges of the entire iems are not chamfered or beveled so pointy bits all around.

Had the same problem with Moondrop's Spring Tips, Spinfit CP100 solved it (and add some more bass, I think). Kato is my day driver now.
@Face Changer I've had them for more than 2 years now, right side iems' 2pin connector broke,plastic 2pin housing split and fell into the iem housing cause I dropped my iems a couple times.It was from a couch height so wasn't even that high. I had to take off the shell [NOT EASY] and somehow DIY it back to usable condition. Sounds still the same no issues with it. Brass nozzles never got blocked but steel ones get condensated so I had to blow into them by puckering up my lips to seal and blow. Have to do it every now and then otherwise suddenly you'll stop hearing sounds coming out of the iems after like 6 to 7 hours of continuous use. BTW for people who like to sleep with iems and likes to sleep on their sides be careful; golden 2pin connectors get bent and becomes leaning tower of Pisa.
got mine new in blue for 70$ from a store trying to get rid of its entire stock and took my chance and got them they are amazing still need to try out the brass and the other fittings also should I get a dongle with it because my pc is far away so I need something to get it closer

I actually think I prefer the regular steel tubes. The brass ones also sound good and for some genres they might be preferrable but overall I think they reduce the clarity a little too much for my taste. If you had just given me the brass tubes I would tell you they sound fantastic, but once you've heard the clarity of the steel tubes which also have more than adequate bass, you can't give that up.
Yes, the silver filter lacks bass, but the brass ruined the micro-details and imaging in my unit. Besides, the forward vocals made them very fatiguing to listen for long sessions. Also, I had this weird issue with my unit where one ear would fit perfectly but the other would just not seal in any way, position or tip size. Sold them.
I'm a vocal and imaging whore. So these were nice for me. Sonus may be better for you. It's like a less energetic kato.

Just got a pair of these, love em but do not like the cable it came with. Using it mostly at my desktop and my DAC is kinda far away and not really movable. Anyone have any recommendations for a different cable? Preferably a longer one.
I just got my Kato's. They only had 1 left in blue so I got the blue ones. I'm going to get the Linsole blue cable to match it. Still trying to figure out if I prefer the silver or gold sound more. My only complaint I have is how difficult it is to find the right fit tips. Even though I prefer the sound of foam tips. Silicone tips always seem to fit my ears better. Does anyone know how much noise bleed these things have. Like how much the person sitting next to you on the subway can hear vs how far you have to turn them up before the person next to you can hear them? From my experience so far they don't seem to have very good noise isolation. I just got them so I'm still experimenting.
You can also change lengths too on the foam tips to alter the way they fit

The only Moondrops I’ve owned were 2 pairs of Aria Snow Editions and they both had the right side fail within a month
Is that actually the case, was it the driver dying on you? Or was it the much more common issue of moisture building up and blocking the filter making it sound like one side is muffled or completely dead. It's rare two sets die of the same issue when it's not a common mass QA issue. Like it happens but first i've heard of it on the Aria Snow.

Is the kato stock cable 3.5ft long or 4ft? Wondering if I need to buy a longer cable.
What would you guys recommend for a portable bluetooth amp/dac for these? I've been looking at the BTR3K/5K. Also, are there any bluetooth adapters to get rid of the wires for working out, etc? Thanks!

It basically uses the Torrent protocols and I have to upload to the "cloud" once and then all 500+ people will share with a new member. So as I change wallpapers you will have it automatically synced to whatever folder you choose.

Ugh, the 1 More Triple Driver In-Ear was a waste of my money, imho. I don't know what other people were hearing, but all I heard was bass, bass, blurry blurry bass.

Dan's audio reviews has a comparison on them, the arias and the katos among other, and he records music from the headphones to compare how they sound. The video might be titled as something else because he reviews multiple ones per video, so when you search kato aria dan's audio reviews it should be the one on top
Be honest I preferred the og aria over 3 . The Kato is a bit more analytical but black aria was more fun to listen to for me

Kato bad value now unfortunately… some more budget single DD like Olina SE are better.
Unfortunately I also feel the Olina SE are slightly better than the KATO. KATO are still great. You just have to not swap back and forth and just listen to them and enjoy.

I own Kato, Olina OG, and Olina SE, I’ll take the Katos any day of the week. Olinas are very cold in the lower mids. I can’t tolerate cold midrange.

Honestly at a certain point most shit sounds good from solid brands, zeos needs to be offended by a products sound to go in on it otherwise he will only note value for money and if hes liked them based on what he remembers listening to lately and on what he used to play into em.
