He should explain more on why you would want a servo motor, and its benefits to keeping your design in registration.
I’m the guy he was interviewing in this video. Texmac sells both servo motor and stepper motor powered machines from HappyJapan, and I’ve been test sewing both types of machines for almost 10 years since HappyJapan first added servo motors to its model lineup in 2016, starting with its multiheads. There is no denying the advantages of servo motors - greater sustained speeds, quieter, smoother operation, finer, more precise movement. But the general thickness of standard embroidery thread doesn’t necessitate resolution of movement any finer than 1/10th of a millimeter in any direction, which is well within the capability of both servo and stepper motors. So, test-sewing even very finely detailed designs, there is no appreciable difference in appearance between the 2 types of machines sewing out the same design on the same type of material. The difference for me is more apparent in more demanding production environments - when sewing very high quantities over a long period of time, over harsher conditions, I prefer a servo drive machine because it is more efficient at high sustained speeds, actually using less electrical energy for the same embroidery output, and definitely more durable even in a hot production environment.
