I went to this school. Two years after I graduated, there was a major sexual abuse allegations against the faculties. It shut down soon after. I remember many of the rooms you went into. I had good memories while I was attending the school.

Yes, graduated 8th grade from this school. It was a combination of the elementary school and junior highschool.

the couch stains look like heavily colored soda. weird how it does look like two people got wounded in the back of the head, and bled out. either something actually happened, probably not, or some kids had a very detailed idea to creep people out with.

Dude you have to be careful in Amboy. They are not to fond of outsiders. It looks deserted but there are people still living in the area. Was stationed at 29Palms from 85 to 88. There were a lot of strange things that went on there. Do not be surprised if some of that is actually blood you found.

MY LAST GRADE AT AMBOY SCHOOL was the 6th grade. I hope you wore nose/mouth masks because I was told it was fenced off because of asbestos hazard----probably why books and papers were abandoned there. Played on the playground---dodge ball, tether ball, girls played hopscotch. We played baseball on the east side of the school. Amboy School was within the Needles High District----not 29 Palms (where I was born). Many of our parents worked at nearby Leslie Salt mine. Most of us lived east of Amboy in the Chambless/Cadiz area and my childhood home (built in 1960) is still there on Mactul Rd. (first home on right North of Hwy 66). Lived out there for 16 years. Joined the Air Force after high school and worked with the CHP for a while then transferred to LA County in the same line of work but won't say more beyond that. Yep. Recognized those old classrooms.
I first attended that school in Sept 1966 at 1st grade level, speaking only Spanish, so in reality English is my 2nd language, although I learned it by immersion very quickly. Back then teachers could impose physical discipline and I learned to be quiet after a few painful chalk strikes to my head. We were school-bussed in from our homes---ten miles away. The bus route was (heading east) a first stop on Saltus Rd/railroad tracks, back on Hwy 66, then the Chambless/Hwy 66 area, then 3 miles down Cadiz Rd/railroad tracks. It was really something to see Hwy 66 dry up when I-40 connected directly. There used to be a sign as you entered Amboy showing "POPULATION: 100" . We would compete with Kelso and Essex in baseball. Fred Ansel was the principal, Mrs. O'donnell my teacher, and Mrs. Mary Howard a regular substitute. Amboy is located between Barstow and Needles on Highway 66. My plan was to transfer to Needles CHP and patrol the highway of my youth but God had other plans I guess. I transferred to Needles Jr High in Sept 1972 (7th grade) which involved a 3-hour daily bus round trip so I would often finish my homework by the time I was dropped off at home. For some reason Needles Jr High and Needles High had an expectation that Amboy kids were not quite bright because they seemed quite surprised to discover that some of us were academically gifted, as I won 2nd place in the 9-12 grade Essay Contest as a sophomore and the 1st and 3rd place Essay contest winners were Don/Mark Featherstone, respectively, both also non-Needles residents from the Goffs ranch area where the Blair family also lived.
My 1st classroom was the one in the auditorium which included 2nd and 3rd grades as well. A man with an autoharp would come in while we sang children songs. I remember that cursive writing chart when I last attended in 1972 and looks exactly the same---probably was. Yes, we were taught cursive writing and the metric system as well. The middle classroom looking from the playground was the lunch room and where we played thumbs up game during rainy days. My best memory was in that lunch room when I was crowned spelling bee champ in the 5th grade-----beating everyone in the K-8th grades. Thank you for the video. Although it makes me very sad to see my elementary school destroyed, I've wanted to go in for the longest time and you satisfied that need. th-cam.com/video/uvZ9_K8kEUc/w-d-xo.html I recently did a bad quality video---first videos relating to school shootings.

Prior to Xerox copiers copies were made on a Mimeograph machine that used a purple/pink fluid. They used that into the 1980s for sure.

I am so glad you managed to get into this school and the houses, it was amazing to see the inside of them and see how much was still left in there. The house with the coffin and fake blood looked like it might have been set up as a Halloween horror attraction or maybe a filming location for a low budget horror film or music video.

Hey man, I am new to this channel, as well as leaving comments for ANYTHING, so I will apologize ahead of time if you have already answered a similar question, but I am curious, do you ever take anything from the sights you explore, like a memento? I only ask because I really enjoy what you are doing, and am interested in exploring as well, and just wanted to know sort of what the protocol was. Thank you in advance.

Ph buffers ars used in a lot of different things. In medicine, bicarb is a buffer used when ph is greater than or equal to 7. In current day, with the virus, a great deal of pts have had acidosis, and i see this drug pushed on the daily. There are others that are used, but this buffer is fairly common, as severe acidosis is only present before someone passes, as it indicates multi system failure.

The reason why those houses have such a low ceiling clearance is because they were intended to have a low profile, they were constructed around the height of the Cold War Era and the buildings were made to not be seen from a high altitude from enemy aircraft. Also the roof tops were made to have the same color as the surrounding desert to create a camouflage and also the low profile buildings do not give off a long shadow. My home town of Henderson Nevada had barrack like houses like these at one time during the beginning of WW2 since it was a War effort industrial city, it was and could still be a strategic target for an enemy nation.

Awesome video! My family and I got stranded in Amboy way back in 1972, and we stayed at Roy's Motel. We were on the 2nd floor of an unairconditioned room with a squeaky fan and hot sandy water coming out of the faucets. I remember my mom screaming in the shower when she got blasted! Part of the 2nd story of the motel was being demolished, so the cement "hallway" just ended not more than 20 feet of where our room was. I still remember the cafe, which was the only air conditioned place in "town". Wish I could remember the school area, but I don't. I do remember walking to the Post Office with my dad and him telling me to watch out for snakes. The post office was dimly lit and creepy and dad and I studied the "wanted" posters that were hung up on a bulletin board. There were some old men in there that looked like they could have been miners. My parents are both still around and sometimes we like to remember our unexpected trip to Amboy!
