- We made an amazing wall décor from simple scraps of boards. And the living room has acquired a stunning design interior.
We only used oak wood, which we split with an ax and aged with water and baking soda.

I did a similarly labor intensive project involving thousands of pieces of broken colored tile.
It came out absolutely beautiful... and I swore I would never do that again.

@@kadzomaalim6801 it was so incredibly labor intensive. Took me several weeks of working on it constantly.
The outcome was beautiful but I don’t think I have it in me to do a project with that level-of detail.

I just did a similar wall treatment with distressed cedar fence planking. For a carpenter who specializes in this work I am very impressed with your design. The imperfections make it beautiful. I would however suggest liquid nail instead of hot glue. It creates a much stronger bond and the sheer force is much stronger. Absolutely fantastic design. Love it
Plus liquid nails would be a lot faster than the hot glue process!
Yeah hot glue (at least the ones i use) tend to go stiff and brittle over the years and i would be worried that as the wood shrinks and swells with humidity it will keep popping off the wall.
But who knows maybe it will last a decade and then they might want to change things up a bit? Sure seems like there is no lack of creativity for that to happen. :)
yeah depending on climate that hot glue may only last a year or two tops. i would have done gorilla glue

Hot glue probably wasn't the best choice in adhesive
Silikon Silicone...
Are you kidding! Hot glue adheres like shit to a blanket and the glue sticks are cheap as chips. I use hot glue to mount work pieces to back plates on my lathe all the time. Spinning at ridiculous rpms. Not once has it ever failed me. I'd be more worried about keeping it clean all those lips and cracks look like havens for dust to me.

Hot glue is not archival. It will eventually fail as adhesive because it’s not meant to last. At some point all of these pieces will start falling off the wall
It does look great but they should have used liquid nails or brads. I'm sure within a month pieces fell.

Did something in a much smaller space - wish I'd painted the wall a solid black - it's dark grey, but wall coverage isn't 100%. Lesson learned. We put in recessed lighting from above - it's a great night time vibe. Good call on the baking soda - that's a painters trick! Thanks again.

No but you do need the proper tools , why would you spend a fortune on glue sticks but not pop a couple nails in , these will start falling off the first year because it will not stick to those walls long , so much wrong here

The exterior wood siding... that’ll need a coat of something soon. Water seeping into the wood is bad, especially in winter season if water freezes while under the wood.
If want to go with all natural (vs paint or poly urethan etc), could consider tung oil. It polymerizes and cures into a cross-link, locking the wood surface from future water ingress into wood fiber.
I now know what to do with the junk skids at work (besides burning them) excellent work folks..,.,
The wood walls give such architectural nterest and texture. Well done.

@@pit9820 I grew up in the 50's here in the USA in a very traditional and recently immigrated family from Italy. Our family did everything on our own and were taught skills by our parents in all areas which is they way it had been in Italy and Europe forever. Not like that in the USA for the longest time, most people dont even take care of their own yard or clean their own house, much less doing things like this.
