As a fellow sweat-drenched New Yorker, I HIGHLY recommend getting a small shopping cart. It takes less energy to push or pull your groceries than to carry them. Some of them are even cute, not that anyone cares about being cute anymore. Pasta tip learned the hard way: unless you're a chef (or an old Italian Grandma) who can get everything done at the same time, do the sauce first and then cook the pasta. Sauce can sit around but pasta really can't.
Idk how my Italian grandparents did it tbh, but I will DEF start making the sauce first, then the pasta 😂😂
seconding the granny cart. Changed my life. You can even get ones that are basically just big square sleek shopping bags that have little pop-out wheels so you can essentially set it down and just roll it along!
Tip for the pasta - once you’ve drained it, run it under cold water. That stops it from continuing to cook and drizzle with a bit of olive oil whilst still in the colander, that will stop it from sticking.
I'm so glad I'm not the only one who eats with one foot propped up on the chair and my knee near my chin, haha! I'm 55 and have been doing this my entire life and don't anticipate stopping anytime soon.

Hannah, fr get some roach traps, the little plastic disk kind that already have bait in them. You can hide them behind furniture, under your appliances, in cabinets, etc where Charley won't find them. You have to switch them out every 3 months I believe. They work! And there's nothing gross or disgusting to touch or handle. It's very easy. Target should have them.
Loved the Statue of Liberty footage! She is so much more beautiful in person than people realize. One of my favorite NY experiences for sure. If you haven't already been to Liberty Island to see her up close, I HIGHLY recommend. I didn't even do the climb up inside of her, you couldn't pay me to do that, but just walking around Liberty Island and seeing her up so close was a truly magical experience.

re: self tanning; I'm gonna be honest self tanning is too intimidating to me so I don't mess around with the foams or whatever BUT Jergen's natural glow has been great and easy because it's literally just lotion so you literally can't screw it up (unless you forget to wash your hands after or accidentally put it on your ankles. don't do that).
I’m not surprised you crashed on Monday for 3 hrs after that stressful weekend of uninvited critters I always say listen to your body. That boat ride was stunning! I bet you all had a great time! Let’s all pray that autumn weather comes soon-I’m ready for hoodies and cool air :)
PS: I was making a dish that needed fettuccini noodles and had the hardest time finding them as well! What’s with that?

When this happens with your pasta, like sticking together, you can “wash” it, just put water on it, can be hot or cold. This won’t ruin your pasta, actually, when I drain the pasta I aways put cold water so the pasta stop cooking

I always do that too, works great
When you rinse it, you’re rinsing the starch off the pasta which helps the sauce stick. Using some pasta water will help some, but rinsing pasta is something I only recommend as a last resort option. Someone in the comments said to make the sauce first, then cook the pasta because sauce can wait but pasta can’t. That is very true.
When you’re soaking the shrimp to thaw,that’s the perfect time to pull the tails off…also the pasta water will also help homogenous your sauce

I live in NY and there’s an all natural peppermint essential oil rodent repellent spray that I get from Amazon I think. I spray that alllllll over my apt and it really works at keeping pests away. Wishing you luck queen
