As a former military wife, I had to spend months at a time on my own with no extended family nearby & two little ones. Realising early on that pancakes for tea or on stressful days cereal for all 3 meals 🤣, wasn’t going to make me a bad mum, really got me through some tough days! Emily, I love that you reiterate how mums should take the pressure off a bit when they need to - 100% perfection is not the aim. Happy kids and parents is the aim! 😊
The part when you said “just get it done” about your garage made me smile! What a good attitude and way to ignore all the negative comments you might have had about it not being done the right way. Whatever! It’s done and that is so much better than not done. That’s my main take away from this video, so thanks 😄
Thank you so much for your Hacks :) What I do to save time: 1. Cleaning scedule - For example every 2 weeks i Take 5 mins to clean the top of the kitchen cabinet instead of a time consuming clean every 6 months (with Hard scrubing) 2. All my recepies are on recipe cards in one box, so it is easy (also for the kids) to choose what we want to eat - in the front is the shopping list (which makes online shopping even faster) and on the back is a short explanation how to cook it - our older Kids (12+) already cook for us (Alone) cause its easy written 3. Almost like your vip folder - i started to sort my pictures - just like my pinterest board - to find things of one topic quicker (Screenshots for furniture, Games for Kids, memories etc.) 4. I hang laundry on the hanger to dry - So i just grab them and put them in the closet (no folding of parentsclothes anymore) Sorry for the long list but i hope there was something for you :) kind regards from vienna!
My tip is to time block and batch tasks. I tend to allow short tasks take all day because I feel like I have all day - but in reality something invariably comes up and I don't get to do that task and it builds up to a much larger task. But when I time block and batch tasks they just get done. It's a work in progress for me... and it more allows for more time rather than saves time. If that makes sense. Thanks so much for sharing! ❤️ Mel
Loved this video. I clean the bathroom while I’m brushing my teeth, and I clean the shower while I’m in it 😂 I also wipe the kitchen cupboards and worktop while I’m waiting for the kettle to boil. Little things seem to make such a difference. I’m going to do the 10 minute timer tomorrow! Xx
These are great tips! My husband and I have definitely learned the value of outsourcing, especially now that we have a toddler and a baby. This spring we hired someone to do our spring yard cleanup and it took so much stress off my husband and now he looks forward to gardening, and it let him use that time for other things, like being with our kids. We are also hiring a handyman to take care of a bunch of small projects around the house.
Online shopping, meal prep and batch cooking for the win here! Laundry hack - hang socks up in pairs so that you can just pair them together as soon as they’re dry instead of playing hunt and pair the sock!
I started using your tip of getting clothes ready night before when you last suggested its a game changer!I have also started making sure when I'm doing laundry the clothes are not inside out when I hang them and probably gone a bit to far with this but I also hang them on the line/clothes horse in order of room they go away in 🙈enjoy the rest of your hols!xx
I love how you are so real. Love the content of your videos!! I'm a bit of a perfectionist and in a world where things 'need' to be aesthetically pleasing when cleaning it can get really tricky. Therefore "done is better then nothing" really resonates with me!! Thank you!! Much love from Canada!!!
My hack, especially for little ones is to use a timer for certain things. We use a timer for tidying bedrooms so that my son and daughter don't get distracted whilst tidying, they like to try and beat the timer and I use it for bathtimes aswell. They would spend hours in the bath if I let them but they know when the timer goes off, it's time to get out, it just provides a bit of structure.
@Katie Malloy we use a sand-timer and started it when my little one was 2 years old. It helped a lot that she could see how time was going by and how much was left. Later I adopted it and it became "mommy`s timer" too when I went online or did housework.
Hey Emily, I follow you since you're very 1st episode and I just want to thank you for being so helpful to me. You've been an example , a friend and a good company in the last part of my life since I had 8 kids. You are my favourite mum youtuber. I would love more routine and raw vlogs. Never change! much love from Los Angeles, Jessica
Hello Emily, Youve just made me have a light bulb go off in my head. As a single parent with 2 children, one 3 year old and one 3 month old I didn't even think what a great idea online shopping would be for me . Thanks xxxx
Yes to shutting the phone down on night mode and running errands ONE day a week. I do a 12 week bulk meat/grocery shopping, since we have a freezer so all I buy during the week is fresh veggies and fruit as needed. It helps soooooo much.
I swear she always posts the right things at the right time because I’ve literally been wasting all my time and I have been trying to save more time!!!!! It’s honestly getting a little creepy 😅😅😅
Hack for hand me down clothes is the dot system. You put a dot on the label of the clothes of the oldest child. Then the 2nd oldest has 2 dots, 3rd 3 dots etc. Each time an item of clothes gets handed down add a dot and you can easily check which clothes are for which child.
I love ordering my groceries online. Such a time saver. I order every fri night after work, get it delivered sun arvo ready for the week. So much easier
I love all these hacks!! I have a 2 year old and I’m about to have a newborn so even though my kids are younger I can still use these tips!! Also love the hairband! Whenever I wear one I look like a child but this one is super cute!
I have to agree with the batch cooking! I used to get tired of batch cooking because we eat the same think for the next 3 days and recently i just discovered putting them in the freezer so we don't have to eat the same think consecutively
I live by a lot of these hacks! Emily is always on my shoulder especially telling me to get the outfits and uniform out the night before! Makes the mornings soooo much easier! Thanks again Emily for keeping us all motivated 👌🏼🥰
My favourite- done is better than perfect. It’s so useful and I used it twice yesterday already! Especially with big daunting tasks it’s great. Thank you Emily!!
These are all great tips, thank you Emily!! The only thing I stopped doing is grocery shopping once a week. My husband and I found we were spending too much and our tastes changed throughout the week. We prefer going on 2-3 smaller trips a week. It helps us save money and reduce waste. But I totally agree that batch cooking and your other tips help a lot :-).
I would love a video on what you outsource 😁. I always feel guilty outsourcing cleaning my house, but I just simply don’t have the time to clean the house with a baby and kids activities.
Loving your style today, the headband and your nail colour is so cute!!! You look gorg!👌🏼😍 Great tips as always! Defo agree with the meal planning tips! 👍🏼 I’m currently expecting baby number 2 (15 weeks eeek) and binge watching all your pregnancy updates! ❣️lots of love Siarra London! 🤗
Have you heard of the dot system? Your oldest kid gets one dot, second child gets two, etc. Mark their clothing tags and shoes with a sharpie and however many dots for that child. When it gets passed down, add a dot so you know it belongs to the next child. Makes laundry quicker!
The making sure u wake up b4 the children in the mornings is one im deffinatley going to try to commit to daily .im a single mum to 4 ... 14,8,5 and just turned 2 ....it can be hectic all wakeing up same time then my morning just starts out stressed .so alarm set earlier for me tomorrow morning 🙂
Some times when my son has had a full cooked breakfast and a decent lunch, I’ll give him peanut butter on toast for dinner.. because they’re kind of all the right meals but in a different order? 🤷🏻♀️ 😂 I feel really guilty about it but when you said that you do the same thing it made me feel better
Very nice video, Emily! You have been my inspiration for already 5 years :) you do amazing job analysing daily tasks and putting the hacks together! Lots of love to all of you! ❤️
The VIP photo album! 🤯 genius! Constantly losing important information and spend so much time trying to find screenshots. Brilliant idea that I’ll be using from today!
Hi Emily, I just had to comment and say how beautiful you look in this video. How rude for people to say that your garage wasn't tidied and labelled properly. I thought the garage looked great, if you cannot say anything nice don't say anything at all. Your tips videos are so useful, there's usually something there for everyone. Hope you are enjoying your half term holiday 💙💙💙❤️❤️
I think of my day in 3 parts: morning/afternoon and evening and then plan the biggest jobs into three. So say morning I could say : school drop off/post office/ get milk, empty dishwasher and call best friend. Afternoon: put on load of washing vacuum, pick up kids, take kids to after school activity (take laptop to send emails when waiting), evening: make dinner, fold washing from morning and load and delay start a load of washing to be finished for when back from school run. Tidy up for 15 mins before I go to bed especially the kitchen. Relax.
Maybe someone already commented this, but I didn't find you meal planner template link. Please share when you have a chance! Great video, thanks for sharing your ideas for other busy Moms! Love your channel. 💕
Timer Cleaning has worked for me for years! Also, Great tips for the boys clothes sort, I know it’s coming as our toddler he is just 18 months older than little baby brother.
Hi Emily , I has been falling in love with you and your channel, you are so calm and inspiring me every time , thanks for doing what you are doing. i now found Blinkist for the first time and try it out
I don't know about iPhone, but with Android you can put people in your favorites so when it is on do not disturb, calls and texts from them still come through 😊

Wish I could wake up earlier than the kids! They both end up in bed with us and if my warm body leaves the bed, they are awake!😅
Yes! especially when they’re lying on top of you or your limbs 😩
So relatable! Guess we have to focus on the other hacks 💪🏻
Oh yes! Mine are always always awake before me, even if I get up earlier. They are our alarm every single day!
Same here!! 😭I always say "when children can sleep alone is the best fortune ever". So many things you can do when they're asleep!
Me too!

The grocery pick up also helps me stay on budget bcs I can see the tally as I go 🥳 that combined with meal planning have helped me loads
When my children were at school, I prepared their lunch boxes the evening before. Saved so much time in the morning.
