@@comradeboris2335 ideally you would land on the third wire. If theres no LSO to tell you which one you cought, you have to use an external view to see. Jester calling it out makes it easier to tell which one you cought.

For a four-wire trap, that would be between wires 2 and 3, with the hook then catching the 3-wire. Catching the 1-wire implies that you were a little behind the power curve on the approach, and didn’t control your descent rate properly.

Some things of note/questions 1- Super interesting Loadout with the LAU-10's in the tunnel, I've only seen photos of LAU-10's on the Glove stations at China Lake, I didn't know they would put them in the tunnel 2- Why did she fishtail so hard on the catstroke? Is this just the usual DCS weirdness that occurs when not totally lined up and you hit the "U" Key? It looked you were pretty darn well lined up! 3- Going against those SA-2's looked super hairy! Maybe try staying in the horizontal, cause if you go vertical against a SAM its gonna beat your energy state everytime, even an old SA-2! 4- Cool engagement against those MiG-25's! Awesome guns tracking kill Baby! 5- The menu system and interaction with Jester looks great and looks super intuitive when is great! Did you have a hard time talking to Jester in the middle of combat? It seems in some instances he said some things that were maybe redundant like after the guns kill, as that Foxbat is crashing he says "Lock Broken" (paraphrasing) just an observation, I am sure it would be hard to code him not to say something after a specific event, ie killing a MiG. Awesome Video dude! Can't wait to get my hands on her and make some vids with guys who actually flew her! Super cool to see how other YTer's approach different engagements and situations.
@ 3 : Interesting, as I've read many times that pilots over Vietnam did vertical maneuvers to defeat SA-2's specifically. Although, they did (as I understood it) tend to defeat it with a snappy change of direction at the "end" - AFAIK made possible by the vertical "yo-yo's" in before.
Jarlerus that was specifically pushing the nose down and then pulling up at the last moment, that’s very different from the extended nose up flying in the video (no offense to ralfidude just sharing my observations)
@@Spudknocker If you make an SA-2 commit to the vertical approach by pulling high and then cutting away, you slip out of it's engagement envelope pretty easily because a telephone pole with a rocket engine on one end pointed up with tiny manuever fins has terrible kinematics, specially if you draw it into a trailing vertical. (And why the best defense against SAMs is knowing one has been fired at you!)
i had forgotten about those push buttons that turn when depressed. It's been 26 years since I sat in those seats. Having been an Avionics Tech (AT) on Tomcats in VF-33 in 1988 thru 92, I'm going to have a real blast from the past playing with this module. What an amazing job recreating this old bird! I'm so grateful.
This and your Operation London video are my two highlights of your channel. Incredibly immersive while still managing to show the extent of detail in DCS and the new F14 module. Also the Jester AI communication is nutbusting

I really think Jester will help me survive combat better than doing everything myself in the F-18. He can say in words what’s going on instead of me having to lead and quickly try to decipher all the tones and info on the EW page. My main issue is surviving SAMS at the moment. I honestly think this will make it easier for me

I cannot wait to see footage of a two player single aircraft rather than using Jester AI. I do like the implementation of Jester AI, my only complaint is in just a single specific aspect of his voice. Whenever there is a lead-in to a situation, he says "get ready". It seems to get over used for every situation and destroys the suspension of disbelief. The repeated "get ready" call makes me feel like I am watch the start of the next stage of some 80's arcade game I fed quarters into so long ago. Other than that... excellent job to Heatblur on Jester AI.
I'm pre paid and this is like some kind of weird punishment lol . Have all the modules F-18,viggen,harriar but to be honest I think I'm going to appreciate Jesters help. Nice video.

it could only be because of aging of the structure because no matter what the claim may be the F-14 is probably still the best aircraft built in the US, on the NAVAL branch it is for sure and both the F-18 and F-35 are serious downgrades from it, raw power, speed, payload and even maneuverability, it had it all I just can't imagine how much a F-14 built entirely with 2019 technology would be superior to everything else, way stronger radars, lighter and stronger materials to be used for the airframe and fuselage, more compact, lighter and efficient avionics, jet engines like the ones on the F-22 that would give the F-14 the ability to supercruise (flying at supersonic speeds without needing afterburner, thus consuming less fuel), it would reign supreme over the sea
The F-35 and F-18 are no downgrades, or upgrade, just a lateral move to a different role that was “needed” (as i know that’s a debate in its own, but, you get it)
F-14 used most of it's power to haul it's fat ass around. F-18 has higher TWR, and better maneuverability. F-14 can fly 300mph faster at high altitude, but what practical difference does that actually make? F-18 actually also has about 7,000lbs more payload capacity.
@Drew P. The F-14 was an aircraft built for air superiority, the hornet is a multi-role, comparing the payload of the two seems kind of ridiculous (really comparing them at all seems idiotic). The F-14 could travel much farther than the hornet (that 300 mph difference would come in handy at such range), had a superior radar, and was a weapons platform for the aim-54. It did exactly what it was built to do at the time and it did it well.
@@markp.7109 the F-14 is/was on par with the F-15 on how much it surprised its designers for being better than they thought it could become, the only reason it is not used now is simply the age of the airframe, just like how the F-15 and F-16 have started to struggle in the last decade (you can probably also include political reasons, aka lobbying) also, the F-14D had 10 harpoints for a capacity of 14,500lb, the F/A-18 C/D Hornet had 9 for 13,700lb while the Super Hornet has 11 harpoints and can carry 17,750lb, that's 3,250lb and not even near 7,000lb you can argue that it can carry more modern ordenance but we can also argue that the F-18 has seen a bunch of upgrades and the same never were applied to the F-14, on top of that the more powerfull radar allowed the F-14 to carry long range AA missiles and that is a significant capability when you are the first line of the defense over the sea I have doubts the F-18 and F-35 combined can be as effective as the F-14 in its heyday, and it seems that many top ranks in the USAF and USN have started to fear getting left behind from betting everything on a F-35 that simply does not meet expectations

The F-18 brought an excellent air game, great ground game, less real estate on board ship, less fuel needed and a MUCH smaller maintenance bill. With the fall of the U.S.S.R. the Tomcats job went with it. I've seen these girls on board. They don't fly unless there is oil dripping into all 18 oil drip pans. 2/3 of an F-18 will fit in the exhaust pipe of one of the Tomcat engines. It was an obvious decision to let her sail into history. I was looking forward to this release like everyone else.... but this vid makes me think this is a western Viggen with Max Headroom in the back seat.
