Chengdu's Largest Urban Village existed for nearly 70 years, Local Life in Chengdu China

Chengdu Xin Er Cun, or "Working People's Second New Village", is a residential area located in the first ring road of Chengdu, in the northern part of the old city, with a history of more than 70 years, and most of the locals know about this place.
In the 1950s, there was a boom in the construction of "people's new villages" all over China, and the Second New Village was built in that era.
Today, Chengdu has become one of China's new first-tier cities. This old residential area has become a microcosm of history.

Not slum, it seems like a old town. It's fairly clean, too. People can buy almost anything they need for a day overthere.
