  • WHAT IS DOVER WESTERN DOCKS REVIVAL (DWDR)?
It's a transformed waterfront with a new marina pier and curve to attract a host of shops, bars cafes and restaurants with Dover's unique backdrop of the harbour, cliffs and castle. It's the relocation and further development of Dover's cargo business with a new cargo terminal and distribution centre. Creating greater space within the Eastern Docks for ferry traffic and much needed high quality employment opportunities for local people. Kick starting the wider regeneration and a game changing opportunity for Dover.
The Port of Dover is delighted to be working with local supplier Hartwell Architects Delivering the Vision - Dover Western Docks Revival.

A great opportunity missed by reopening the old Western docks station. Trains back to the heart of the docks for people who want to enjoy the harbour beaches and the views and also for foot passengers for ferries to Europe and trains beyond.... Tracks could be re-laid this was a proposal to link up to the line that exists coming out of the tunnel which use to be the main feed into the station......re think people in charge of the Port of Dover you really are missing a key point.....its a beautiful station with all the glamour and would be a key asset in the regeneration programme with keeping tradition with modernisation .

Delivering The Vision. Who’s vision? I think the good folk of Dover might have a vision that focuses on the regeneration of their town, one that brings the prosperity that I recall from the sixties and seventies when I stayed in Coombe Valley Road often as a child. I have very fond memories but the juxtaposition of the thriving port and the state of the town these days is alarming and I doubt if the provision of luxury yacht mooring and a mini Tilbury on their doorstep will change anything. Modern container yards employ few people and the repurposing of the PoW pier is a bigger loss to the community than I think the DHB realises or indeed cares about.
