If I was 20 years younger I would love to take on the course you are doing. But at 64 and retired i have challenged myself and my grandson to complete journeys down 5 different rivers. We did 300 miles on the Wabash River in June 2018. July 12 we are launching on a 400 miler on the Cumberland. The next 3 years will see us on the Tennessee (600), Ohio (1000) and then we will complete things by going from Minneapolis to Mobile which will have us on the Mississippi (1600). Congrats on completing your course and am always looking for your next video.

Nicely done, brother! The mapping was definitely a challenge. I totally went off mark, mixed up my coordinates on the last day of advanced. We had been pushing it and was basically running on fumes at that point. Glad to hear you pushed through and got it done. Thanks for mention. All the best at Advanced. Looking forward to hearing about it.

Pooter Stomper you got it. keep fresh on what you did for scout, maybe do some primitive traps triggers. the land nav is more intense, both the distance and the mapping. for losing weight while maintaining/building strength, carnivore diet is great. steak and eggs, maybe some green vegetables if you want em. Definitely think being lighter will help with the course. I was rucking a couple times a week leading up to it.

I'll be taking a Coalcracker class soon. From what I hear it's much less physically intense than the Canterbury classes.
I was concerned when you said there is so much hiking, but 8 miles per day isn't that bad for me. I did 18 mile days 6 days per week for about 4 months, with my best being 22 and my lowest being 9. I was also overweight. Started at 240 and got down to 215. I'm back up to 230. Got 3 months or so before my class and plan to drop 15 to 20 lbs.
I've been doing bushcraft fun for about 8 years and feel fairly proficient, but admit I'm a total idiot when it comes to knots. They just don't click for me. I can practice a knot daily for weeks, then not use it for a month and it's gone. I can't tie shoes from the front. If I tie my son's shoes it has to be from behind. It shouldn't make a difference but it does. I've never succeeded in tying a neck tie.
It's going to make things difficult but I'll make it work.

Once again congratulations for the patch! Your videos are always intersting- and so was this one too. Starting the fire was magical and once again I learned something...we don`t have cedar here, but white birch bark will work fine. It dries fast and you can scrap it into feathery flakes. All the info you gave was just awesome! You can truely be proud of your self-- you were through a difficult, scary experience! I`m looking forward you nav videos--will be very intersting. Did you do orienteering with maps and compasses? Was that how you were to find your goals? Your tip of taking care of your feet is a very important one! Also when you are in the hot weather you should be sipping water all the time, otherwise you`ll be in trouble. Wishing you all the best in training for the advanced class! You can do it for sure!!! Stay safe and be blessed!

Hey man, new subscriber. Congrats on the intermediate course. Quick question, what knife are you using in the video?

Just checked it out on Self Reliance Outfitters. Very functional looking blade and a good price. I'm taking the basic course on the 23th - 25th of October, and I'm pretty stoked. I plan on taking the intermediate in November and advanced courses as well.
      Thanks for the response.

@@TonyPowers_Dirtbound That's awesome! I watched your video on the advanced class and it made me want to take it even more. LOL! I'm coming from Florida, so the weather change will be welcomed.
