I found your vlog because I live in Austin also. I moved here 15 years ago for a job! Try not to get too bummed by your corporate job, I've been at the same job for 15 years and what I know now is that my (very comfortable) corporate job supports my lifestyle. It pays for my free time and supports me financially so I can do my hobbies. Sometimes the job is great and sometimes its sloggy, but I've had many rewarding experiences at work. It's interesting to see you experience everything in Austin the exact same way I did 15 years ago! Especially the saying "yes" part.

A very easy, cute, fun read - "Falling Hard for the Royal Guard" by Meghan Clawson... takes place in the Tower of London and she lived in the Tower!

Izzy, you have to read “A Very Nice Girl” by Imogen Crimp - it takes place in London!! It really perfectly captures the experience of being a girl in her young 20s living in a big city on her own (from a bit of a more bleak angle at times, but so much of it resonates that I don’t mind). I’m about 2/3 of the way through and I love it!
I think you would also love “The Odd Woman and The City” by Vivian Gornick - it’s sort of a memoir but doesn’t necessarily feel like one because it’s told through many different random stories; it doesn’t necessarily have one plot line you’re following, but I have never tabbed a book so many times or written down so many quotes in my phone from one book. I go back to it all the time to re-read passages that were super wise. It’s also Lorde’s favorite book I believe lol which is just a fun fact!
Also, not sure if you would be into these books, but I’ll share just in case you’re in the mood to switch it up: Julia Fox’s memoir “Down The Drain” was my favorite book of the year so far (it gets a little slow/repetitive at times but definitely was worth it for me); and I also really loved “Sharp Objects” by Gillian Flynn (she wrote Gone Girl which is my favorite book of all time - it’s a crime book and it definitely gets pretty dark at times, so not sure if you’d be into that, but if you do like true crime then I highly recommend). You potentially might also like the book “Yellowface” by RF Kuang - not sure if it would be your taste but just look up the plot summary! It’s one of those books that has a really unique premise and afterwards makes you so aware of certain thought/behavior patterns in yourself and other people that didn’t stand out to you as much previously.
Anyway please excuse my insanely long comment lol! In a vlog one of these days, please share some of your book recommendations as well 🫶🏻 I remember some books you’ve mentioned in vlogs before while you were reading them but would love to hear your top favorites :)

200 vlogs Izzy, amazing, but think I've missed some! (I only started watching around when you started the first London study abroad). Not to make you miss London 😉, but I went to Dishoom (Carnaby St) on Sunday with my girls (I expect you "did" Dishoom at some point?) and then to ABBA Voyage, which was a treat for me! They are getting excited as it's only a month till the TS shows in London now. Bet you wish you were here for that.....sorry😆
