I thinking of getting one
It LOOKS good, but it's a stock VVTI 2jz ge. It's not even a real 2jz, they're so weak(they'll blow up at like 400hp). If he wants to get a real 2jz on a budget, he can snag a non VVTI ge from say a Lexus sc300 that'll be just as strong as a gte, you just gotta put in a different head gasket and ARP head studs. Slap a turbo on it and boom. Get that dang clutch fixed too and it'll be muah (italian Chef kisses) so good.
All bark and no bite.
Fix the clutch and slap a turbski on it.
Maybe delete some optic mods.
I love it! I love my is300 it's stock and i still love it. I would love to turbo mine but as it sits its a great daily it's not about speed it's about whipping it around the turns and sliding it around.

@@Kingjah803 help yeah it will if it aint got like terrible problems it’ll be just fine. They are known as being one of the “ol’ reliable’s” of the car scene. The transmission is practically untreatable from even flooring it everywhere and it can run on shit fuel and will run and be fine.

That's what I love about the IS300. Its design is unique even to future IS iterations. And I love the classy and sporty look of em. I'm always looking back at mine when I leave it parked lol
My first car was 2001 is300 took that bad boi to 300k miles. Will never forget it.

Just do it, there is no question about it - they're super reliable when it comes to the power they put out. Only real thing to look out for is the valley plate leak, OEM brakes are dusty and noisy, and bushings like to go out. Also, OEM suspension is garbo, so plan to get aftermarket if you want a DD.

Thank you so much for the Is300 love. As a 9 year owner of an original manual 04 I tell you there is not enough videos or love for this car and you hit great points 👏 👍 My is300 has always been great and I promise with the clutch brand new, or with mine as a manual, you would have loved riding/ driving my Altezza/Is300

No joke they're a bit slow stock but you gotta consider the beauty! Not to mention the reliability! I've owned 2 of them (my 2nd and 3rd car). I was 18 at the time the first one I crashed "drifting" second one dui driver hit while parked! Live and learn! Own a 03 manual mustang GT now thankfully for the lives of everyone I gave up drifting after wrapping my 1st IS around a pole so crowds out there don't worry hahaha

Picked up a prime 2004 is300 from a tennis coach couple with 55k miles for 4500. Super mint.

Bought a bone stock factory manual is300 with 175k miles on it, it's been nothing but great 🙌, after coming from a 335i 6 speed manual, I thought I wouldn't enjoy anything the way I enjoyed my beamer, I was wrong. Super fun car. Cant wait to turn mine to something like this !

@@mackinglikemylifedependonit 1 year later, the is300 is now the driveway queen sitting next to my project pickup truck. The is300 has come A LONG Way, but I'm always pleasantly surprised when I work on her or bring her out, both enjoyable. Not many on the road these days where I live, let alone manual ones, Truly awesome car imo!

Here in NZ we have the Altezza scene and it's pretty big and I absolutely agree with you Alex -- the body lines of the XE10 platform hide can beautify some REALLY questionable mods.
Even the cheap skid hacks with tacked on fibreglass bodykits that are broken in twenty places and springs that slam the car on it's guts still look good because the base chassis is so aesthetically pleasing.
Still own my is300. Love it.

If you got money to play, this car will eat it
not a bad car definitely fun car to drive around the canyons or track. It does cost a lot to fuel it up cus it get terrible gas mileage but if you don’t commute far it shouldn’t be a problem. And plus they are easy to work on and mod.

Owned two IS300 Sport designs, Keeping it clean and stock is desirable and keeps its value at the top. Now happy with a GS F sport miss the IS 😢
i picked up the is200 in January nice ride to play with lots of options. i got mines with crazy work needed bad throttle body fenders banked up (haven't changed em yet) some bad bushing n shit, but after changing all those suspension parts its a nice banger lol. also my ABS and check light on but nothing shows up on the can at all.

I just purchase a 2005 with 96k i am looking to turbo it and street race with it i think it has lots of potential especially with that 2jz block.
I had an is300 that I sold a few months back. I'm not gonna lie, I do miss it. Just got tired of putting money into it,and got tired of lowness. Maybe I'll grab an altezza when the 98's will be available for import in the next few years.

I still roll my 02 IS300. I just got my other car back from 8 months in the shop. So I got used to the 02 manual IS and now after watching this video I have an even greater appreciation for that car. But when you get older like me, having an new SUV is cool too. I go from high seating cushion riding on rails Mazda CX-5 back down to a 1 inch dropped IS (Eibach springs and roll bars) IS that feels totally different. My car is nowhere as cool looking as this guys. Even if I put the full L-Tuned bodykit back on. Im missing the front bumper because I went back to stock, and the rear valence. Both are in my garage. But anyways, great video. Wish I wouldve saw it back 2 years ago. But it gets a like and comment today. As well as a sub.

This is an example of a ricer with money. Didn't spend even one penny on performance. Swapped it manual just to be "cool" and doesn't give two shits it doesn't work correctly but goes out of their way to put carbon everywhere. 🤡
I had that same issue when I Auto to Manual swapped, sounds like he needs to adjust the clutch pedals cylinder
Yea I got a tail end light failure on my IS300 but they work😭 still love it tho!
It does that if you swapped your bulbs with led ones.
i really wish we got the jdm altezza w the 3sge as opposed to the 2j, even if it wasnt the beams motor, never drove the IS300 but i imagine with the aluminum 4 banger would feel more balance then the iron 2jz due to the weight savings
2jz is literally the most balanced engine ever made

I wouldn’t daily it these do have costly repairs especially starting around 150k and only combined 18mpg is awful.
