Thanks for these videos. I had Seen the video for Sun Sun Babae before, but your videos include the title cards for the performances. Do you have any more information about how or why these videos were made, or when and where they were originally shown? Early TV programming perhaps, or as a short before a movie at the theatres?
@@aeichler The Studio Films shorts (and their predecessors, the Snader Telescriptions) were made for early TV. They were used as "fillers" along with feature films or with other short films such as Laurel & Hardy, cartoons, etc. They were also used to create local "variety shows" with a local announcer acting as a sort of film disc jockey. After they were no longer in demand for TV, the surplus prints (16mm) were liquidated by Blackhawk Films, the home movie company.
I managed the DeCastros in their last years and loved them all. Check out the other videos of them i posted.

Probably in various forms of "soundie" players, which were like video jukeboxes.
