Another great Bimble. I've been through Knutsford 100 times, but I must have had my eyes closed !

You passed the water tower converted to a house in High Legh. Always fancied that . Lived in Knutsford for a few years myself. Fond memories of some of the pubs 25+ years ago

That's a really well made video Mr Bimble.! I was born in Knutsford but left when I was still young. A trip down memory lane.

Great video, our Keiron . Educational as always . Every day, a school day . I learned not to buy coffee . From the cafe on the car park off King Street Knutsford . 2 small coffees in paper cups £12 . Keep pretending you're a Spitfire . Keep them German Fokkers -Wulf away

l love local history. From local history you have national history and international history. It takes a village to raise a child? local workers, teachers and builders. Then there are those that build nations and countries. That said it all starts locally! Adventure and an open mind helps. then the trick is to never stop learning! or Bimbling!! love the music!
What about a National Bimble Day!

Blackcap is still a bit as I've seen small planes landing there when cycling recently. It's owned by one of the Money Supermarket founders who's got planning permission for an underground car storage facility for all his classic cars apparently.

Shell oil owned it at one point . They did vehicle trails on it .

    • @davidlawless5312
      @davidlawless5312 ปีที่แล้ว +1

1970s, I think . They used it for trails for vehicle distance records . Ie MPG . Not vehicle we would recognise . It's more like kids' trolleys with one pint petrol tank . Do a measured distance. Tank taken off . Measure fuel used . Calculate how many yards are covered on fuel use . That gives you MPG . Claim record . It's not a real vehicle, but it's a PR exercise

The Airfield was closed on the 4th November 1958. In recent years, Oil Giant Shell, used the Airfield to test engines, and they built a control tower, this is not to be confused with the origional tower, as that is now long gone. A few of the origional building are still standing, but you need to keep your eyes peeled for them, as many are within Appleton Thorn Industrial Estate. The Runway is in remarkably good nick, as are 2 Air Raid Shelters and a Water Resovoir. Any way, on with the Pictures.

Would love a port sunlight and surrounding bimble 👍
I used to be one of the port sunlight and lever bros gardeners. We won Britain in bloom when I was in charge👌 it's all a bit lame now levers don't put anything in the pot to make the village look nice so hardly any flower beds now and everything overgrown. Every year We used to do a ten foot working clock in flowers outside the theatre, the LFC logo in the Hillsborough garden in flowers ,and with all the trillions levers make they pulled the plug on it all 👎 now it's a trust .

I am surprised that you believe that there was a moon landing.
My first car was a Reliant Robin it was blue so I called it the blue pig.
I have sat in a Spitfire which was parked up at an air show it looked far easier to fly than it is to drive a car.
I had an uncle (he was the general manager of Greenings on Bewsey Rd/Lovely Lane Warrington- he used to sound the air raid siren at 1pm) who lived in central Knutsford in a 500k house, he then got giant knotweed which seriously devalued his house.
I worked hotels in Mere Knutsford so I know the crack around there!
Sadly my best friend PC Leach was killed on the A50 on his way home from serving on Knutsford Services on his Suzuki motorbike as it hit a car overtaking a tractor on a bend. His funeral included 3 police forces which he had served with so it was massive.
I used to shop in the small Waitrose there and they gave out free coffee. I drank two litres of it one day and the strong caffeine damaged my heart! I have drank decaffeinated ever since.

@ mate I’d like a cd with your greatest hits on it ‘she loves the rain’ ‘could have done more’ ‘take off your shoes’ ‘extra ordinary lives’ ‘maybe it worked’ ‘as if this was love’ how about it?
There are certain people on this planet(my dad was one of them and so was my father in law who was an engineer like Fred Dibnah) and when you are with them they give off a sort of an aura of greatness like they are demigods- your many talents make you fall into this same category- exceptional- what a guy.
