My backstory for Venus and Mercury´s moons is that Galileo did discover some but he never properly recorded them. In the 1870s astronomers re-examined the them as well as discovering new ones. I took inspiration from the fact Uranus´ moons are named after Shakespeare Characters and so I named the moons of Venus and Mercury after Dickensian figures.
For Earth I had the idea that its moons have been seen and noted by many different civilizations that all culminated into ten official terms by the 1200s. Apart from Lunar, Fecury and Pascal I gave them some names inspired by Universe Sandbox itself such as Idell, Curio and Ora Pax.
With all the planets that have moons named after Greek and Roman Mythology I decided, for my own sanity, rather than finding out the name of every single little never-heard-of Deity and then cross-checking them to make sure they hadn´t been taken, I just took the names of a bunch of asteroids, Dwarf Planets and Dwarf Planet Moons to get it right. So, for Mars we have Phobos and Deimos (probably represented by larger moons) and then Dysnomia (Moon of Eris) Haumea, and it´s moons: Hi'iaka and Namaka.
Jupiter's Moons are all named after objects in the asteroid belt: Ida, Ceres, Vesta, Pallas, Hygea, Davida and Iris. Ceres is the largest rocky moon whilst Ida is the giant gas moon. This choice was made because in real life Ida has its own moon, Dactyl, which was then the name given to the gas moon´s moon.
Saturn´s new additions may surprise you. We have Charon, the Gas moon with its satellite: Hebe. We also have Nix, Styx, Hydra, Kerberos and Chiron.
Uranus was fairly straightforward. Because there were less names to go through and I myself have read more Shakespeare than Roman of Greek Mythology I was able to select these names for its new moons: Macbeth, Macduff, Gonzalo, Sebastian and Duncan.
Neptune was probably the trickiest. Again, I don´t have the time or capability of the mind to research and find loads of other minor sea gods so I had to find other names for them and eventually a came up with an idea with a story to support it. I´d also just like to point out this is all in an alternate universe so don´t associate any of this with reality.
It is the year 1839. In reality Neptune wouldn´t be properly discovered until 1946 but in this universe a Chinese man by the name of Hai Mao discovered it in this year using a custom-built telescope. He also observed it´s nine largest moons and named them after Chinese Deities: Guanyin, Yan Wang, Nuwa, Fuxi, Caishen, Chang'e, Zao-Shen, Niu Lang & Zhi Nu. He also gave Neptune the name: Dong Shìjiè (Eastern World)
However, at the same time British Astronomer Arthur Hewson also observed Neptune using a custom-built telescope. He was not able to see all of the larger moons but did discover a world he would dub Triton. He called the planet Neptune but would also make two very important predictions about it. Firstly, it´s size as Hewson´s predictions would end up being far closer than Mao´s and secondly, the idea that it may have more moons, lurking in the dark.
It would have been an awkward surprise when the two finally learnt of each other but luckily it didn´t end up in a catfight. Both Mao and Hewson excepted each other's discoveries. Hewson agreed on the Chinese names for the nine larger moons but was told that Triton could be kept a British discovered world with its name intact. Both countries kept their respective names for the planet and they agreed that all future discoveries greater than Triton would be named after a Chinese Deity whilst all smaller would be named what the observer chose. There weren´t any more worlds found larger but multiple smaller ones would be discovered and named in the theme of sea gods.
For Pluto I named it´s 7 moons after astronomers: Copernicus, Galileo, Huygens, Cassini, Hershell, Mao and Hewson.
I decided that it seemed a little unfair that Eris missed out on the fun so I gave it two more moons. I´ll explain their names in a second, they are Quaoar, Orcus and Makemake.
Planet 9 I trialed several combinations but nothing seemed to fit. In the end I chose probes and Rovers: Sputnik, SOHO, MESSENGER, VMAP, IKAROS, Ulysses, DSCOVR, Sojourner, Spirit, Opportunity, Curiosity and Perseverance.
I´m sure you all wondering. Ewan? What are you talking about? Why are you taking the names off these innocent rocks and stamping them onto some other rocks? Glad you asked. My theory for that and for this system in general is the following: In the early days of the Solar system before water had even touched the surface of Venus, Earth or Mars, something big happened. Our young solar system, came into contact with another system.
This system was much smaller than ours, it had five planets with the three largest ones about the size of Neptune whilst the main star was a small Brown Dwarf between the sizes of Jupiter and Saturn named Flekture - 27. It arrived in the solar system around the Kuiper Belt area and already began to cause trouble. All the objects that were in the belt were tossed around as the new star took its place in orbit. Most of them fell inwards but were then caught in orbit of the Gas Giants.
A few were pushed into large, eccentric orbits whilst others began to orbit the planets around Flekture - 27. Pluto and Eris would be two of the few planets that got lucky. It might have stayed like that forever and indeed for the next 800 Earth years not much else happened. That was until a great coincidence took place. At this time Uranus and Neptune were closer to the Sun and Each other than they are present day. Uranus had just come into confrontation with a particularly large Kuiper Belt object which had the effect of pushing it closer to Neptune.
In turn, Neptune was pushed further out and that may have been it had it not been that Flekture - 27 and its system were at their closest to Neptune. What's more, two of Flekture´s larger planets were also lined up and helped the domino affect launching Flekture - 27 out of its obit. The encounter lost Flekture - 27 four of its five planets which were left roaming the Kuiper Belt. They would eventually fall inward´s bringing various debris along with them and would be captured by Uranus, Saturn and Jupiter after a while resulting in the three gas moons and the obscure green and purple moon orbiting Saturn named Chiron.
Ida in particular would cause mischief one captured by Jupiter as it's gravitational pull combined with that of Jupiter would push most of the objects in the Asteroid Belt further into the inner system. Most would fall straight into the sun but a few were captured by the terrestrial worlds. It also launched away a bubble of gas that had been orbiting Jupiter since its formation. This tiny ball of Hydrogen would only just be saved by Mercury at the last second.
As for Flekture - 27 it would continue to spiral out of the Kuiper belt area with its last planet now also in a highly eccentric orbit. It finally ended when the planet ended up in just the right place to escape Flekture's grasp. Flekture - 27 would eventually leave the Solar system completely and from there life would go on as normal, Saturn would obtain its rings, Venus and Mars would gain and lose water, an asteroid, dislodged by Jupiter, would hit the Earth wiping out the dinosaurs but paving the way for humanity to rise and discover the worlds beyond and moons.
The planet that had orbited Flekture - 27 would also come to into a more regular obit. It made off with twelve of its own moons, one of which being gaseous. Planet 9 and its moons would be discovered by humanity in the year 2044.

Make Pluto a planet in your own solar system and the other dwarf planet make all of them a planet with a lot of moons

might not be the end of the series; ypu can do asteroids, dwarf planets, the hypothetical planet 10, and even exoplanets.
edit: you can also add moons for the solar system moons and custom planets

Im gonna move to the trappist system next not doing any more solar system objects as i dont have a planet 10 and i dont wanna do more dwarf planets due to it being a nightmare lol

You can still do the series, but you can go outside of the Solar System and start to give exoplanets moon systems. I recommend the next episode should be Kepler-22b.
