Thank you for making a clear and concise explanation to counter all of the fan theory that so often gets taken and republished as fact. I do wish more people realized that Forever’s story started as a Returns follow up and that there’s a darker movie in the theatrical cut trying to surface. Hopefully one day WB will allow the release of the longer version reputedly sitting in their vault.
The rumors surrounding this movie are insane haha! Robin, Riddler, Mad Hatter, Scarecrow, Billy Dee Williams as Two Face, I’ve heard that Superman was going make an appearance to set up Superman Lives. According to a rumors this was going to be a very stuffed film lol. It’s fun to think about, but obviously it wasn’t the case
Lot has been said about Tim Burton’s third Batman film and it’s nice to know the reality of what it was going to probably look like as opposed to just taking all the rumors at face value. Great video man!
Awesome - there's so much hyperbole around Burton's third when it really doesn't amount to much more than the original screenwriters meeting with him one time.
After he hired Joel Schumacher to direct the third Batman film, he met with The Batchelors and both Burton and Schumacher hire them to pen the screenplay.
That's right. Warner Bros said to Tim Burton " Tim, don't you want to make a film like Pee-Wee's Big Adventure?" And he said to them" You won't want me to do another one, would you?" And that's why Burton hired his friend Joel Schumacher to direct the third film after they had lunch.
Probably considering that's what he would do when he did Ed Wood. I know WB wanted the writers to include The Riddler. So had Tim Burton stayed on and was forced to include Riddler, he'd probably use Johnny Depp. Honestly, I can see Burton making Riddler an egotistical toy maker/professor like the dad in his Hansel and Gretel or the inventor in Edward Scissorshands and the riddles coming from small wind-up toys. Maybe their idea of Willy Wonka could've been utilized for Riddler as this weirdo manchild that has a gameshow host vibe. Not to mention his costume could've looked like the Doctors from Doctor Who with green checkered patterns and green tinted goggles.
If I could, I would combine the Batman Forever we have now with some of the original ideas that people think came from Burton. I would have kept Carrey and O’Donnell as Riddler and Robin respectively, I would have had Rene Russo as Chase Meridian and I would have brought back Keaton and Billy Dee Williams as their respective characters (Kilmer did a great job and Jones was entertaining but I would have preferred to have those two comeback especially since seeing Billy Dee as Two Face would have been awesome).
Ok, so what exactly was the reason that Burton stepped down as director?? I was under the impression that WB told him to step down because McDonald’s was uncomfortable with the Penguin puking up green slime and they couldn’t sell happy meal toys like that 🤷♂️
Supposedly WB also did that because people were bitching about the "sexual" content of Batman Returns... But if that was the case why did they OK the bat nipples, bat asses, the glowing in the dark dildo-mobile, Meridian Chase's gropey harassment behavior, and Jim Carrey grabbing his crotch?
@@evanzaremba4722 right but the main highlight of the movie is Keaton's Batman. Now of course that's not why the movie did badly at the box office. But the fact is even Keaton's appearance couldn't save it, so I sincerely doubt WB will even bother getting Burton and Keaton for another movie. Of course I could be totally wrong
THANK THE LORDS!!!! I am sick in tired of videos and websites involving Burton's Batman III. And I'm glad someone took the time and resources to shut everyone up. There was no script, no casting, no costume tests, and the concept art for Robin online was for Schunacher's Batman Forever. There was even a toy prototype based on this early concept art with spiked 90s hair. Rene Russo was for Schumacher's Batman and not Burton's. Even if Williams was considered was casted, he still would've turned it down after being heartbroken for WB backstabbing him as Joker. The only unmade Burton Batman movie people never talk about was the Catwoman spinoff from 1995.
Great Video Mate 👍 Looking over all these ideas considered for a third Batman film, it seems that Riddler was all but destined to be the main villain [Robin Williams or not] as the Studio seemed to have made the choice of villains based on their popularity in the 60s Adam West Show [Joker and Penguin were also no questions studio mandates and Catwoman was well known]. The secondary villain could of been Two-Face but as Billy Dee's star wasn't shining too bright, His return was a maybe [Harvey Dent was supposed to appear in Returns but was cut to trim down the cast], it seems likely however that another villain could of filled the role of seconds so who knows. Catwoman's return seems unlikely given the plans for a spin-off film which continued in production even after Burton left [given it came out 12 years later as the god awful Halley Berry Film it should of died with Burton's departure]. Robin was never showing up as long as Burton was around as He hated the character, having previously used Batman 89's budget blot and Returns large cast to cut the character [Burton seems to have written The "Kid" part in Returns' early drafts simply to appease Studios until He could find a way to cut the character, at least Marlon Wayan still gets payed residues for signing up for the role 🙂] The story is anyone's guess, as Burton seems to have only stayed on the Batman Forever production team to pass on the torch and give minor opinions [I doubt He would of independently come up with focusing on Batman's duality as He never really explored Bruce Wayne/Batman in either of His films, seemed to just see Him as a dark vaguely edgy character repressed by decades of morality codes, hence His Batman kills]. In high sight, I think it's unfortunate that Schumacher's films turned out the way they did, He clearly had a lot of good ideas but wasn't able to challenge the Studio like Burton, and was forced into making campy nonsensical films aimed at selling toys [though He could of cut all the weird Sexual stuff like the Bat Nips, those where Schumacher's idea]. A third Burton film would of been great to see, even though I'm personally not a die hard fan of them, but I do think obsessing over it after 30 years isn't worth, we have since had the Dark Knight Trilogy and Matt Reeves Batman, I think that a good enough amount of Batman [Can't wait to see the Penguin and Batman Part 2, hope their great!]

I never bought the whole Robin Williams as the Riddler thing. There's no evidence it was ever anything more than a vague casting idea. They certainly never sealed the deal.
I want to start off by saying that I really appreciate you sending me the link to this video. As much as I wish those rumors were true, I had to watch this a few times to accept the fact that it's not lol. Sounds silly but that's how I did it. I appreciate you informing us. However the 89 comic is definitely the closest to a third Tim Burton film that we're ever going to get and the Flash is a good film sequel to Returns. Looking forward to Keaton coming back. You of course know everything I think based on the comment in the last video, but I will say that if Burton did return for a third movie, we're certain that Keaton and Wayans would have been in it for Batman and Robin and maybe Pfeiffer as Catwoman. Who knows really. I do have a favor. Is there a way to send me a link to that Riddler book that you mentioned? If so, please and thank you. The cast that we thought was Burton's idea, I am curious how he would have utilized all those actors in those roles. Aside from Keaton and Pfeiffer obviously.
You can check out the Batman Enigma comic here: twitter.com/EnigmaBatman In an interesting contrast, it has Riddler and Scarecrow, while the Batman 89 comic mainly focuses on Dent's transformation into Two-Face. @@SuperHousePodcast It was probably obvious lol but thank you so much. And I do agree. It would have been character overload. If Burton were to make a third one, I feel like he would have used two-face. But who knows really.
Honestly, this is JUST MY OPINION, but I think Jim Carrey would’ve been good as the Riddler if Tim Burton directed the third Batman. If you watch him in Cable Guy, Series of Unfortunate Events etc. Carrey definitely can pull off dark characters with a demented, twisted sense of humor.
