If you put a coffee machine in your workplace, you will save about $5000 a year on coffee if you drink 2 cups a day. If you make your lunch in the morning instead of buying takeaway lunches, you will probably save another two or $3000 a year. If you shop at secondhand shops, the clothing instead of buying new brand clothing, you’ll save yourself another $2000. If you reduce your alcohol intake to maybe one drink or two drinks on a Friday night, you’ll probably save yourself another couple of grand a year. Yes Photography is expensive but so is life. I made some simple changes to the way I live in the last five years, because I wanted to expand my photography equipment. I simply made some changes that were very subtle, but save me a significant amount of money. And you can too.

Now that you're done hearing this guy's bs, here's some real advice on how to save money when you wanna get into photography :
    >Buy used gear
    >Cameras that are good in video are relatively more expensive than the ones that are good in photography, if you want a good photography camera, just buy an old used dslr that has a high enough megapixle count for what you need and a decent autofocus system, that's all you need (megapixles don't really matter but they do matter when you wanna print your stuff)
    >If you don't wanna invest a lot into buying lenses and don't care about the highest optical perfection, consider buying vintage lenses, they are damn cheap and give your pictures and videos a really good look. But remember you'll have to use manual focus so taking video with these lenses is kinda hard.
    >You don't need gimbals and stabilizers unless you're really serious about this stuff and you "really" need those buttery smooth moving shots.
    >Buying more and more gear will never satisfy your inner greedy animal, you'll always want more, make the best of what you already have, even if it's just a phone. Buy more stuff when you absolutely need to buy more stuff, not when you start getting ideas about how it would be better if you had all that extra gear.
    >Feel free to add anything to this

Unfortunately if you want to charge people for your photography and take professional looking photos, you need to spend over a grand to get a good enough camera. Anything less than that and it’s a beginner camera with lower specs.
Obviously you need skills too, but like any business, there’s an initial investment.

    • @jamesSevenAteNine
      @jamesSevenAteNine ปีที่แล้ว

@@yani1343 for starters, it’s over $1000. Also, it’s a great camera for a teenager or any beginner, but I wouldn’t recommend it for professional work. I’ve personally used and it was meh.
      - It doesn’t have 2 SD card slots.
      - it lacks a lot of buttons, so it’s hard to quickly change settings such as focus point.
      - the grip is absolutely tiny, it would be very uncomfortable to use for more than an hour.
I work at a camera store part time and I shoot semi professionally, so I know what people want/need for professional photography work.

Most people can't tell the difference. All you need is lots of bokeh and natural colours. My camera is 12 years old and cost £50, and with a cheap, fast, modern lens, everyone says the photos are "good quality" just because there is lots of bokeh. (The lens cost £70. My dad didn't think it was cheap, but relatively speaking it's cheap)

Man you don’t even need $1000 to do photography. The higher end gear is not going to make your photography automatically better, it may help you take better shots but when it comes to photography the most important thing is you. I know people with expensive camera gear and I’ve been able to take better photos with my Nikon D50 from 2005. Building up skill is the most important thing, not what camera gear you have

A few thousand dollars is still very expensive man and I do believe that for most of us we're looking for a camera (including lens) under 500 usd, which was still very possible even a few years ago but nowadays the "entry level" is becoming around 1000 usd.
For a lot of people using their phones will be a great option but only if they own an iphone or a pixel or something that retains flagship quality but for me I use a phone around 150-200 usd so that's out of question lol.

I laughed soo hard when i heard "entry level camera" and litterally in the next sentence "a few k dollars". If it's only photography then e.g. the sony a7iii will do more then enough and its like 1k or bit more and it's fullframe but there are even cheaper models which if you got some nice lenses, and thats the nice thing if you collect them you can use it later on better cameras, can produce great results. But even cheaper lenses can produce nice results. I only use cheap lenses and the results are great. Of course if i would invest more in way better lenses, the results will get even more share etc. but you don't have to start with few k dollar lenses f.e
