Interesting. I bet the solar works great. Do you run all your electricity solar? With electric backup? What that cost to install on something like your box truck? It looks like a commercial vehicle. 💙
everything runs on solar. I ran the air conditioner 24/7 last summer in texas, no problems. I also have a shore power backup. the cost to install the electrical system is a few thousand in parts, a couple thousand in labor if you dont DIY
I think for my permanent full-time rig counterspace is going to be something key in the trailer. I just have two little fold up counters that are about maybe 14“ x 14“. While we’ve been stranded in Oregon, my travel buddy has been doing a lot of cooking because we’re combining our resources so that we can eat more cost-effectively and it’s surprising how much counterspace it takes to prep food when you’re cooking from scratch on a budget. I love to be able to use solar and a battery bank for cooking and then all the lights and charging devices not sure about the diesel heater. I’m not sure if I really want to carry an extra fuel type and have to have an onboard tank for that, but there’s not many other options other than a hydronic system running on electricity. All these sound way out of my budget but I’m open if I get to an area where there are no meds I’ll be able to trade mechanical work for other work I need.
Nice buddy. There really is so much counter space in there and it really is key. Be awesome when ya finally make it down to this area. 🤙🏽 and lots of people love the barter system
I really need to tap into this network of skilled nomads. If I ever make enough gas money to get the hell out of Oregon, Arizona, seems like the best place to go. I’m actually considering a box truck. There’s an older Chevy box truck just about a mile from the estate, had a good price fairly low mileage. My only concern is gas mileage on the vehicle compared to the jeep. Pulling the camper trailer.
That is a beautiful build. Nice video. I won’t be going with the Chinese diesel heater in my build. I’m going Eberspacher all the way. Hydronic as my primary heat source and an Airwave as backup. However I do get an incredible deal on pricing and installation. The friend who is doing the build is an Eberspacher dealer.
