When I listen to this song, it always reminds me that day, when Tsunami hits Phuket, Thailand. "Carry each other.. Carry each other" We carried each other like the same family, help, support as much as we can. I'm so proud to be thai, that night we opened the houses for everybody, share the foods, share the bed and share the fear which we don't know what's happened that time. It's no races, no nations, no skin colors, we encouraged each other as "ONE"
I love how Damien switched around the "me"and "I" and "you" part of the song. It makes it so heart-clenching, imagining someone singing this to someone else. Beautiful.
I used to listen to this song a lot before seeing The Impossible. Then I went to see it, and this is the first time I've listened to this song since. From the moment that piano plays in the intro my heart misses a beat and my stomach twists as I'm immediately reminded of that movie. I hadnt realised how much of an impact it had on me until now. Incredible song. Incredible movie. *clicks play song on repeat*
I was listening to this song while looking at old photos of my family, friends, and a girl that doesn't know how much I love her and now I think it's about time I told her wish me luck
Not only did Damien Rice transform this song musically, he completely changed the emotional impact of the lyric by switching the roles of listener and singer (i.e., "he flipped the 'you' and the 'i') -- and, for me, a Gen Xer -- listening to it rubs against my memory of the original in a way that's like putting a rash under hot water - it hurts but it feels so good I can't stop. So, um, yeah, this is awesome.
I haven't cried in a year, my heart has become cold as ice. I guess I should stop listening to this incredible and amazing song if I don't want to cry a river just right tonight.
I honestly don't know a single song of Damien Rice, that wouldn't be moving, emotional and beautifully performed. It doesn't make any difference, if it's a cover or an original song. He always makes a song an integral part of his own experience. Perfect song! And I sincerely love Johnny Cash's version! Not to mention U2 :)
Thanks again for posting these. Most of the covers, though good, remind me of how uniquely fine the originals are. This version, though, is masterfully done; very poignant and fitting for the good movie it is attached to.
Sensacional!
Trilha do filme O impossivel..... simplismente perfeita o filme e a musica e a voz desse homem. Amei!!!
I think this cover speaks to both the talent of D. Rice and the original songwriting. Its always nice to here new versions of great songs and I really like this rendition. Think I prefer original by a slim margin, but that's most likely just because I'm used to it.
Actually at the first time i was a little bit confused, but the more i had listened the more i liked it. It totally matches to evenings with a cup of tea, just turn it on and think .. Slowler than original version, and that makes it perfect.
Oh my god, I cant help the feeling it's Lisa on the backing vocals. Maybe it's super secret so that people don't start gossiping again. Or maybe my imagination has just gone too far.
I love this version, its deep and the voice of Damien Rice it´s simple perfect, but this is not a "real cover" because Damien modify the lyrics in order to put the message in a first person.. more personal. For me the result is even better..
Please carefully listen to the words in this song, because they differ from the original version. I loved his version before it became the movie trailer theme. Yes, the original was good, as well as many of the covers. However, in Damien's version the speaker or singer takes all the blame for all the mistakes made. It is beautifully haunting for anyone that has regrets about something they have done that can never be resolved. I definitely identify with this song.
It's interesting that Damien says "I act like I never had love and want you to go without" while Johnny Cash says "You act like YOU never had love and you want me to go without."
Who is Damien Rice and Gavin Friday? Not trying to be smart, just don't know where I know them from. I know I've heard the names, just not sure from where.

Chan B. It didn’t just hit Thailand, it affected most countries facing the Indian Ocean
@@arvindabraham255 Yes I knew, but I just talk about my experience about Tsunami at Phuket that time.
I LOVE THIS SONG!! like i found it off the Impossible Trailer...damn song can't be bought without buying the whole album...
4:30 is literally the brilliance, the pain, the anguish, the beauty, the elation. The summation of life.
I love how Damien switched around the "me"and "I" and "you" part of the song. It makes it so heart-clenching, imagining someone singing this to someone else. Beautiful.
Am I the only one listening to this in 2022? What a great cover of such a great song
No. Do you know what album this is on? I can't find this on itunes.

*unpopular opinions*
The impossible? Anyone?
This is a great cover of great song Long live U2!
He has just come in out of the rain and is sitting at a bar thinking out loud about the disaster of a relationship. Totally fried & done. I like it.
Thanks again for posting these. Most of the covers, though good, remind me of how uniquely fine the originals are. This version, though, is masterfully done; very poignant and fitting for the good movie it is attached to.
Spent hours searching for who was singing the One cover on the Impossible trailer. Finally found it! Such a beautiful

Just heard the original on the radio and i have to say I prefer the fact that uncle Damien has brought it right down. Makes it sound really natural
Love this song

Actually at the first time i was a little bit confused, but the more i had listened the more i liked it. It totally matches to evenings with a cup of tea, just turn it on and think .. Slowler than original version, and that makes it perfect.

Oh Damien. You done it again.
Everybody did. :)) OMG, the end of this song is just incredible!! 4:30 - 5:25 ♥
Great!
There's a way to do that to. Just create a playlist and only have this video in it. It will repeat constantly ;)
love song
What you wrote reminds me o Damien's "Cold water". Take care, Andrea!
I love this version, its deep and the voice of Damien Rice it´s simple perfect, but this is not a "real cover" because Damien modify the lyrics in order to put the message in a first person.. more personal. For me the result is even better..
Very good
haunting...
Somehow I found my eyes were leaking after watching the Lewis Hamilton Montage on the BBC today. I can't imagine him at a different team.
Please carefully listen to the words in this song, because they differ from the original version. I loved his version before it became the movie trailer theme. The song is very deep.

Best version of the song I've ever heart, without a doubt. *-*
So beautiful. But I cannot find this version to buy anywhere :(

Indeed he did; I actually prefer his version to this one.

Or what you can do@dragonfly01 is use a youtube converter.goolgle " youtube converter ".
I want to buy this song where can I do that?
Sim, muito boa também, ela é mais fácil para se tocar no violão.
It's interesting that Damien says "I act like I never had love and want you to go without" while Johnny Cash says "You act like YOU never had love and you want me to go without."
Damien-s versio is from the other partern's perspective , johnny-s version is the exact version of u2 just a cover
nice
Who is Damien Rice and Gavin Friday? Not trying to be smart, just don't know where I know them from. I know I've heard the names, just not sure from where.
@MrSineSensus
i don't know. i think it ties with jonny cash's. well, for me, anyway.
