Hi Reno! I definitely understand and have applied this hack myself, but in my experiences I’ve had to be careful about it leading to procrastination of the actual thing I’m scared of! I usually take the fear head on and rationalize exactly why I’m afraid of something down to the point where the reason seems so insignificant that the fear sort of fades away. When I’ve tried to push off the feeling of fear to be felt later without analysis, I find the feeling still subconsciously affecting my spirit.
In a way I used this too, in my team at school we have to run 3 miles every start of practice. Seems like a lot but when you start you make little checkpoints. Boom I made it to the tree, now I can make it to that lightpost. Aye, I made it to the lightpost, now let me make it to the stop sign. The continuation of making those checkpoints boosts your energy, motivating me to finish all 3 miles. So in short, small checkpoints until you make it to the end!
