One of the 500s will be my first bike. My only regret is that I didn't care about motorcycles until my 30's.
Interesting that we have the same interests. Well I bought a CBR 300R a few weeks ago and I love it. About to go get breakfast on it actually.
I'm the same way. I tried to get back into dirt bikes, but 32 years old learning to ride a dirt bike again is a painful experience(stopped dirt bikes 15 years ago) Selling the dirt bike and picking up a 500f or x. haven't picked one yet.
chillyfog2427e7738 No kidding. I'm 32 as well. I sat on a WR250R and it just seemed a hassle. I like flat-footing bikes. I've yet to sit on a CRF250L but alas...if that bike was updated to 300cc at its weight of 320 lbs wet, it would be what I was looking for.
I love the way the new 500 looks and sounds. Can't wait to drive myself. I think I want one
It was a typo when we uploaded it, thanks for letting us know!
Excellent report. Thankyou.
1:05... First time i have ever seen a bike tester minus essential gloves..
I agree. It is a very cool bike. Too bad you can't buy one yet in Canada.
I just feel like I'm missing out on something if I don't get the cbr500r (Vs the cb500f)
You think the cbr500r would be a good first bike. I saw one at the dealer right next to the kawa 650 and was impressed. I don't like how small the 250 is this bike seems to be just right in size.
@TheSuperMotoHooligan they have had 500Rs Fs and even Xs at my Edmonton Honda dealer for over a month.
The naked f and cross style x model with its more upright riding position and looks seems to fit better with the bike and engine's temper.. The 471cc twin is a low rewing, 1:1 bore to stroke ratio engine with a smooth powerband and limited top end at 48hp, not a great match with the sporting style of the cbr500r model. This engine should be very economic.
when's the 600cc shootout going to be done?
If it's a brief sample ride. Why does your title say review?
it didn't the day the video was posted. It said 'review.' They changed it after my comment.
It clearly says "First Ride" - can you read?
Review is nowhere in the title or description.
E z the 500r sport. The new front windscreen and head lights were a good design. The new gauges r totally digital..... its about time honda :-)
It did. My comment kept them honest.
Ninja 300 killer
+Ninad Ganore Of course, you compare a 300 to a 500. Do you even motorcycle, bro?
Ninad Ganore Except that even if they'd be the same price, the insurance and the fuel efficiency on a 500 will always be more expensive than on a 300. Most people don't buy the bigger bikes because they cost too much to insure and fuel, not because of their actual price or CC.
+Enigma pls go checkout Motorcycle USA .com they tested the efficiency and said it is extremely identical even though cbr is more powerful. You can trust motousa.
Ninad Ganore If the fuel efficiency of the Ninja 300 is the same as the CBR 500, then Kawasaki has done something horribly wrong. Although, the insurance is still cheaper on the 300 and it probably handles better too.
ill stick with a DR440 @ 38hp and 150lbs less.. Waiting on my MC17 250RR that pushs 50hp stock to be finished as well.. Combined still cost less then a new "budget" 500r or 500F . 2200$ DR fully rebuilt & 2800$ MC17 after rebuild ...Toss on a year of insurance for them both and still cost 400$ less then the 500R after taxes.. Seriously if your looking at a beginner bike look backwards and into rebuilding something you'll love rather then something you just wana trade in
i like the x more
Ah, but WHICH one? ;-)
Could this guy sound any more disinterested? lol
it doesnt....
i was just gonna type u sound so board then i read that.
This is an ad. Come on fellas, give me some educated opinions. How was the ride? How does it compare to similar bikes like the Ninja 300?
ROFL! :P
I have the 500R. Very quiet exhaust and easy going torque rich powerband. Its like a magic carpet ride with it soft suspension.
