An interesting discussion. Before I move forward in my comment I will say I loved the album though it clicked only after a few casual listens. The production was a bit jarring for me in the beginning but once my mind got used to it I started humming it when it wasn't playing & really started liking the music. I do agree that their lives sound better especially lately. I think the tiny desk does have some autotune though not enough to prevent the actual texture or imperfections of their vocals from shining through so it's a genuine live. It was mostly a minor amount that most artists have on their mics when singing live. There's a vocal teacher on youtube that gets annoyed whenever she picks up effects or autotune in their non-dancing lives because she believes they just don't need it. She's seen behind the scenes vocal practice videos and she really likes their voices so the decision confuses her.
I do believe for specifically this album that the mechanical autotune effect is being applied stylistically but truthfully I'll be happy when Bts gets pass this stage in their music. Especially Yoongi. I love his work but recently he's inlove with the heavy kind of autotune that hurts the ear lol. The autotune in Yoongi's part in 'Respect' in Map of the Soul: 7...I think that's the first time I ever went on weverse just to scold Mr. Min lol. The boys have gone through many stages in their music and I feel either they'll calm down on excessively experimenting with autotune eventually or the producer in Bighit that's amoureux to the point of marriage with autotune will leave for greener pastures. One or the other lol.

Can’t fly out of your room because of COVID19. It’s a lockdown song. So you look at your room in a different light or risk going insane. Not just your physical space but your mental space if that makes sense.
