Agree, your friends and family will love to see all the new reno’s and updates you have made. But more than that, they’ll just love spending time with you.
I love how much family is such a part of your projects. Whether it is your parents helping or lovely mementos from your grandmother, family is a beautiful reminder that makes life lovely.
Setting the record straight: the napkin rings are my Mom’s! She and Grandma Shirley were shopping together and both got some… and I remembered them from my Grandma’s house so I thought they were hers! So shoutout to mom ❤️
Oh wow I really felt the emotion at the end there ,you are so right life is too short to keep putting things off until things are perfect. I love your family's approach to DIY and that you've used so many of Grandma's things.
Ooof, didn't expect to tear up at the end of this video but you got me. When that moment of realization about time hits you, it's a huge wave to take in. I think about it a lot so you definitely aren't alone. Happy Holidays Andrew and thank you for bringing so much beauty into this world!
Thanks for the touching reminder about the passage of time. You are blessed to have discovered this while you are young. Enjoy your time with loved ones.
You are correct! Time is spinning past us and the older we get, the faster it goes!! People are coming to visit us, not our house! Although it is exciting to show off the work we have accomplished - well done on all your projects!!
I love that table!!!! Great idea to cut it down!!! I also saw your old sewing machine in your studio! I love sewing with mine!! I collect them and have like 20 in total! The candelabra and other "Gma Shirley" things are such a special and personal addition to your decor! I love the napkin rings! Never worry about the state of your home, just invite people over! If they judge you wouldn't want them in your space anyway! It doesn't have to be "done" or "perfectly clean" it isn't "too small" or "lived in" it's your space!
Grandma had good taste! Love how your dining area turned out, really beautiful! I get what you mean about time going by quickly, as you get older, it just moves even faster, I would know, since I'm officially ancient this year. The hardest part for me is seeing my parents get old, they are 83 this year, and I have to spend as much time with them as I can because I will never know if it will be the last Thanksgiving, Birthday, or Christmas we will spend together. You had me in tears at the end.
do NOT spray paint the mirror!! the touch of silver is so nice in your space and I find that mixing metals is a great way to make things more visually interesting, open up possibilities, and avoid trend cycles. I think it looks stunning as is! Also I hope you and your family have a wonderful holiday season! It always warms my heart to see your parents helping with your projects and supporting you ❤
I can imagine him and his parents on the weekends when dude was a kid. All of them piling up in the station wagon looking for project pieces someone left out on the curb 😅😅
Love how you used the oak shelf as a window seat. I saw the most amazing "ebonizing" technique for oak. You dissolve a steel wool pad in a two liter of white vinegar. The oak instantly washes black but still works with the wood grain. Thought it would look great with the black and white tiles! Thanks for all the great videos!!
I have been known to hand dinner guests a festive hard hat as they arrived to sup in my construction zone. Your friends will remember the fun, not the mess, and they'll love being privy to the process. Not knowing your Grandma Shirley is shaping up to be one of my big regrets. Those napkin rings are the living end! All these projects were so satisfying to watch, and the end result is magical. Well done, Andrew! Happy Thanksgiving to you, Matt, and your absolutely fabulous Mom and Dad!
Earlier this eve I watched a home tour. The couple had painted their thrifted dining chairs a beautiful pillar box red in a gloss enamel for Christmas, and then loved them so much. They now a permanent fixture. Take it easy. Thanks for the great content.
You made me tear up Andrew! Thanks for the reminder, thanks for the vulnerability. The DYI stockings, the table, the decorations-Everything looks great, and beautiful, and festive, in this video, but you're correct, we shouldn't waste time on making things perfect, our family doesn't care, and our friends love us just the way we are. As a slightly OCD and perfectionists, I've struggled with remembering this over the years. Have the people over and don't worry about the dusty baseboards!! Happy, joyful Holidays to you, your family, and to Matt. 🎄♥💚✴
Using a slice of the off cut as a template for the dowel pins!? Genius!!! going to file that away in my mind for future. That table turned out quite well. But before you get in a big panic to refinish it, try a wee drop of olive oil, and the finest synthetic steel wool or scouring pad you can find, and good generous amount of elbow grease. Old English scratch remover works as well, but not sure if it is available where you are.
You’re artistry and creativity boggles my mind. Absolutely love that you have your grandmas things incorporated into your designs. She would be so proud I’m sure. Shout out to mom and dad for their unwavering support and help. ❤
Dear Andrew, thank you so much for being willing to share some more vulnerable emotions in this video. I think your message here is (1) true, and (2) timely! I deeply appreciate all your hard work and your openness.
you made me nervous when you said you were hacking the table, but it turned out beautifully. yes to gold for the mirror, & yes to the velvet cushions on the new bench! i'm glad you left the emotional bit at the end in the video. so many of us are feeling that too right now. xo
Thank you for sharing this, i too have been feeling the weight of time passing by this year and I'm like "girl you LITERALLY cannot wait to live any longer" i don't know the first thing about hosting, but i can invite people over. 🖤
Beautiful advice. Life is short to wait till everything is perfect. You are a wonder. Thank you. Here's to you, your family, and friends for continued joy and love, many gatherings, and endless creativity. xox
Those small, homey touches add so much. A lovely table setting. Wishing you and family wonderful holidays together, remembering to be mindful and enjoy the little moments.
Love how simple, but elegant the tables scape came out! Always an inspiration!!!! You just gave me a push that I needed to get things done… being busy working, I don’t host or do the things I love, like decorating or cooking… I needed this reminder to take time and enjoy!
A bit late to this video but I want to thank you for what you said at the end.. you couldn’t be more right to encourage others to just throw the party, invite the friends, finish the project because if not now then when? I really felt your words and emotions. It all just speeds up and flys by. Hold onto every moment now and save the regret of chasing it later. ❤
Pero que bonito eres ! Que sepas que me has hecho llorar , yo también me siento así , es un gran tesoro contar con la familia y amigos ,un abrazo desde la Costa del Sol 🇪🇸🤗
That hit in the feels. I had tears at the napkin holders... you've a beautiful heart, thank you for sharing. I hope your get-together went very well and a lot of beautiful memories created. Also, paint it gold 😉
Happy Thanksgiving! I'm enjoying all your videos. Love, love seeing you work with your parents! Cherish these times. I'm a 57 year-old lady and still do woodworking and crafting projects with my 83-yr-old father. I imagine you, like me, walk around your home and see all the things, places, and projects touched by the loving hands of your dad and think, "how very fortunate I am!" Please consider getting your pop a 10 million dollar push stick for his table saw!
That was deep!😂 you did a great job on that table and stockings! Don't worry...I've lived in my house for almost 25 years and you never stop renovating! I've have yet to host at my house only because my mother at 87 still loves to do all of it and maybe someday I'll host for all of my senior citizen friends and our walkers!! Right now I enjoy letting my mother enjoy every holiday that she has left before she joins my father upstairs !! ❤😊 Merry Christmas young man!!
Great video! So many great ideas for an affordable gathering. Didn't expect to join in your emotions at the end but I'm with you....great advice. I need the link for the origami stars video but don't see it in the description drop down...please!😊
I'd call that velvet color 'buff' or 'fawn.' LOVE the Christmas tree candelabra! Those origami stars are fabulous, my son taught me to make them when he was 10 years old and we were pretty poor - we used colored construction paper, added some glue and glitter and used them as ornaments, the tree covered in these was really wonderful and it was a great family project. Not at all as sophisticated as yours - but for kids, color and sparkle do the trick. I think I need to revisit those stars now that I'm in my 60s! And your dining room is amazing.
Can I drop by to give you a big hug? Though I'm in Texas, so it will be a while. You are just the most giving young man. Thanks for sharing your expertise, your beautiful home, your parents, your talent and yourself with us all.
Happy Thanksgiving to you & yours Andrew & Matt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Big bear hugs from Kenny in Ohio!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!😉😊🤩🥳🥳🍗🫕 You need to sit down with Matt & a bottle of wine & relax! The holidays create their own brand of stress!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
♥ Do it Anyway! Will anything be "Perfect"? No. Create an atmosphere that is memorable, serve good food and the memories will last a lifetime. That "perfect" time will always change, not only for yourself but also for your loved ones. Embrace the present!
I really like you and your dedication to making your house a comfortable home. I really respect the support of your family and the connection you have with them. You are right about hosting and getting on with it. Your friends would not judge your home because it is not up to your standards. They would be interested in knowing what you have done and are doing. Life goes by so very fast and the real gold in life are the treasures of friends, family and connections to others. I was not crying!!! 😢 You were!! 😅 “ life happens as we are busy making other plans” John Lennon maybe not the exact. Quote. Someone told me that 28 years ago and I hold on to that philosophy of life! Wishing you and yours a happy holiday season! ❤
Lots of us share your sentiments! Btw your grandmother's candelabra is amazing! ❤ Your decor touches have created an inviting warmth for any visitor's welcome!!
Great video, loved what you did to that table, what a great idea!! I have just one suggestion, find chairs that have lower backs. You could put these 2 on the ends but lower back one would accentuate your gorgeous window! Party like it’s 1999!! Invite your friends over to make stats ✨💛🍾🥂🎉
Your table, benches and tablescape are as lovely as your sentiments about time passing. I love watching your work and appreciate your eye and your effort. Thank you!
It all looks lovely. I agree about the lighting - it makes all the difference. I am impressed by your family's courage to take a table saw to that table top! I hope you get to use your dining space more and more.
Holy cow! The end results are fabulous, Andrew! I so enjoyed the whole video but seeing the space at the end, all put together was delightful! A few things I noted and especially enjoyed: 1. the juxtaposition of the ornate dark wood table up against the clean, more contemporary lines of the window seat 2. the warmth and coziness of the individual lamps 3. the way you created a beautiful "runner" with the greenery from your yard 4. the gorgeous fall colors outside framed by the big window 5. the ornate candelabra "tree" also framed by the big window! Your guests will be delighted by it all! Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!
Awww, honey, you are such a sweetheart. I always just want to hug you! I am amazed by how much you have accomplished in your home in such a short amount of time, and it is so beautiful and welcoming!! I am so happy for you that you are in such a good place in life and making time to enjoy your family 🥰❤️❤️ Sending you love and hugs sweetie! 🤗🤗
Andrew, your aesthetic is perfection and whatever you do with that mirror will be fab - fwiw, I think the silver contrast is actually kinda nice right now. Also…I’m over 20 years older than you, though youthful, sure. I cannot emphasize enough however, how right on the money you are to consider the role of time. ♥️ Thank you for your exquisite inspiration, video after video. Your quenching creativity has been like a soulful lighthouse 🙏🏼
I love your channel. Partially because I love your style but this video signified what I really love about you: YOUR HEART. I teared up with you about time because it is just too real. Thank you so much for this channel, your heart and your joy. 💖
The emotion at the end is exactly what I am currently going through with my own home, so I GET IT. Everything turned out so well! I hope you have a great holiday, in your home, with as many loved ones as possible. 🎄❤
I totally get having the resolve to have people over and then getting caught up with other things, letting those opportunities go by. We really don’t “have” time-it has us, and we have to seize the present. I’ve had fewer than a handful of folks visit in the years since my condo was renovated. Not enough!
You and your parents are so creative. The 3 of you should be teaching on Craftsy!! I love the dining table, rug, and banquette. It all came together so well. I get what you're saying about time, but you're a lot younger. I foresee a lot of entertaining in your future. You had a lot of work to do on the house, but it's coming together beautifully. Happy Holidays to you and your family!
Andrew, everything you do is such a treat to me. I particularly love the "grandma" connection you have... you know she is right there with you at the table, for sure.
Your table looks enchanting. Great job. The first thing I always do when I move into a new space is change out all overhead light fixture switches to dimmable switches. Be careful with backyard berries --I live in Minnesota so I am not familiar with your regional flora, but one time a customer at my flower shop brought in some pretty blood red berries growing on a vine and wanted them worked into a wreath. I told her she was holding Deadly Nightshade and it was highly poisonous.
I apologize in advance for the lengthy comments. 😉 The dining room turned out cozy and inviting. I love the eclectic look. I like your color choice for bench seat cover. A rich forest green would also be lovely. It's funny that I used to own the same shelf unit you made the bench with. 😂❤ Lastly, at 61 I know what you mean about time flying. Keep your chin up and know that I enjoy spending 'my' time watching your videos. Happy Thanksgiving! 😊
A lovely video and ❤ words at the end. The stockings are perfect. Add your initials at some point? A velvet cushion would be nice in the window but be aware it will fade there in the sun. A more durable fabric will last longer. I love the $20 cabinet re-use there.
Andrew, you are wise beyond your years. I am so inspired by your thinking out of the box and creativity. I would also love for you, your mom, and your dad to come to my house to help me complete some projects! What a wonderful team! Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!
Gorgeous, stunning, perfection, chef's kiss!!! Thank you for sharing your creativity with us. I also love how you and your parents work together on these projects; it makes my heart hopeful that one day I'll have it with my family too. Also, shout out to Grandma for her fabulous collection. I'd love to be that grandma when one day! Time is going by so fast, and I appreciate your reminder on how special it is to just to do things with the ones we love. Sending love and care. Happy holidays!! ❤✨🙏🏼
New subscriber here, and I love your ideas and personality. Thank you for the work you put into your videos. If you can find the origami vid of the stars, can you post? Thank you. Also, you are very lucky to still have your parents with you, and what great parents they are to spend so much time with you. They will be times you will always cherish.

fun! and thank you!! perfect timing for holiday decorations 🎄
@ absolutely! 🙌🏻❤️
The benches are SO cool and everything looks lovely ❤
Glad I'm not the only one getting choked up!! Nobody wants their tombstone to say " We didn't see him much but we heard his house was perfect".
Agree, your friends and family will love to see all the new reno’s and updates you have made. But more than that, they’ll just love spending time with you.
I couldn’t agree more. Every time you look at something you created with your parents, they will always remain in the piece.
I love how much family is such a part of your projects. Whether it is your parents helping or lovely mementos from your grandmother, family is a beautiful reminder that makes life lovely.
Absolutely agree! Thanks for watching and sharing that beautiful thought ❤️
Yes I do as well ❤️
Your grandma sounds like she was an amazing woman.
Setting the record straight: the napkin rings are my Mom’s! She and Grandma Shirley were shopping together and both got some… and I remembered them from my Grandma’s house so I thought they were hers! So shoutout to mom ❤️

I love how you and your family work so well together! You got me at the end (whew watery eyes here too.)
Haha I didn’t plan for it to go that way… but it’s been on my mind. Thanks for watching ❤️
Yep. Got me, too.

Ooh I need to check that out! Might be a great solution! Thanks for sharing! ❤️
The ending… 😭 Samesies. I really appreciate that you went ahead with sharing that authentic moment with us.
lol…the look on your face checking out your poor dining room lighting was priceless! You are so creative!
Also… good advice to do it now. ❤
Haha I hate how I look in top down light! 😂❤️
Love your closing thoughts, Andrew! Happy Thanksgiving to you and those you love! ❤️
Happy Thanksgiving Katherine! ❤️❤️
for real! thanks for leaving all the emotions out there and in the final edit ❤
Your house is becoming a treasure box. Heck it is one already. What a guy.
Grandma Shirley for the win, wonderful to incorporate her treasures. I enjoyed all your projects.
Earlier this eve I watched a home tour. The couple had painted their thrifted dining chairs a beautiful pillar box red in a gloss enamel for Christmas, and then loved them so much. They now a permanent fixture. Take it easy. Thanks for the great content.
Gorgeous candelabra!!
Isn’t it?! The real hack for the video is having a grandma with good taste 😂
Grandma Shirley coming in clutch.
Haha absolutely

Thanks for the gentle reminder about timing spinning away from us. Love that you didn't remove the authentic part from that clip, :)
The world is speeding up, we all feel it. Good job with your channel, one of my favourites;)
Absolutely beautiful! Your guest will feel cherished! Good job
So glad i watched it!! I don't like holiday decor, but I LOVED that window bench!!! So good!!!
Beautiful advice. Life is short to wait till everything is perfect. You are a wonder. Thank you. Here's to you, your family, and friends for continued joy and love, many gatherings, and endless creativity. xox
please remember to bring back the red berries table decoration to the birds after use. they eat it and it helps them through winter…
Those small, homey touches add so much. A lovely table setting. Wishing you and family wonderful holidays together, remembering to be mindful and enjoy the little moments.
Beautifully simple! and did you mention the gorgeous rug under the table that gives more Christmas vibes?
Love how simple, but elegant the tables scape came out! Always an inspiration!!!! You just gave me a push that I needed to get things done… being busy working, I don’t host or do the things I love, like decorating or cooking… I needed this reminder to take time and enjoy!

Aw thank you so much!
Love it!! My parents used to have a very similar table❤
Awesome!
OMG....THOSE NAPKIN RINGS !!!!!!
OBSESSED
Your Granny sure had eclectic tastes, Andrew. Cheers

19:50 Oh man, I feel you!
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I'm a newer subscriber (and working my way through your videos) and Grandma Shirley has great taste! ❤
I love your design sense, but I especially loved your wise and tender words at the end. Beautifully said.👏👏👏
Andrew, everything you do is such a treat to me. I particularly love the "grandma" connection you have... you know she is right there with you at the table, for sure.
Your mom and dad are the best.
Yes time races past so don’t wait for perfection and anyway people love to be cooked for. Your dining room is looking gorgeous.
what brand and model sewing machine do you have to sew the leather?
I *_love_* the dining arrangement! The window seat/bench is amazing!! ❤
❤❤ love it!
❤️
Hugs to you, young man🌺
Oh you sweet boy!! Yes, please have get togethers often, squeeze loved ones often......
A lovely video and ❤ words at the end. The stockings are perfect. Add your initials at some point? A velvet cushion would be nice in the window but be aware it will fade there in the sun. A more durable fabric will last longer. I love the $20 cabinet re-use there.
Wow I’m impressed! Love all these projects. That window bench is genius!
Andrew, you are wise beyond your years. I am so inspired by your thinking out of the box and creativity. I would also love for you, your mom, and your dad to come to my house to help me complete some projects! What a wonderful team! Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!
Love it ❤❤❤
I live in a constant project zone. It’s taken me years to realise I’ll never be finished.
What a transformation so elegant and that banquet is so perfect I loved it.
That ending was very true and oh boy did I feel that emotion. Time is going to fly. Cheers and Happy Holidays! ❤
The Japanese napkin rings are so amazing. I absolutely love them❤
New subscriber here, and I love your ideas and personality. Thank you for the work you put into your videos. If you can find the origami vid of the stars, can you post? Thank you. Also, you are very lucky to still have your parents with you, and what great parents they are to spend so much time with you. They will be times you will always cherish.
Hey thanks so much for watching and subscribing! Sorry I forgot to link the origami video before… it’s in the description box now!
