James, THANK YOU for this tutorial. I was very frustrated after only finding videos from years past that only provided out dated information. This video will save many people some very precious time and energy. I know it did for me!
GUYYS!!! You have to switch to business mode. I found it on my laptop. Once you do that click on top on the three dots > settings and variations shows up
Why did every video I watched leave this out and why didn’t it ever come up when I googled it … Ai doing all sorts of crazy shit and the internet can barely help my dumbass figure out how to use a setting on ebay 🤣
Thank you sir! You are the only one so far here on yt that gave the correct explanation on how to find variations and it was as simple as changing the setting on the sellers page. Thank you again!!👍👍👍👍👍
UGH, I have been pulling my hair out for the last hour+ trying to figure this out... THANKS! For some reason variations were not popping up in the 'antiques' category for bracelets & charms, but it works in the 'fine jewelry' section for bracelets & charms. I'm trying to sell vintage sterling silver charms. I was getting sooo agitated!
Thank you so much! I thought I needed a store in order to create a variations listing. I was this close🤏 from purchasing one. Good thing I watched your video first! It was the third option that helped me. ☺
Hi, yes it could and I know I had this issue when I started a new account. I think it's worth trying different ways of initiating the listing form ie try going to an existing listing like Tshirts (where you know variations are allowed) and doing "Sell Similar" on it. If that doesn't give you a different format, try going to MyeBay>Selling>Listings>Create a Listing and if that still doesn't work, try logging out, deleting cookies, or even loggin in from a different browser (I use Chrome). Hope this helps!
when I create a listing on eBay I cant find the 3 dots on my eBay, and my screen display looks different than yours just wondering if I need a buisness account to get variations and fixed
Hi, you definitely don't need a business account but there are some different interfaces for making listings - you could try logging out of ebay and either starting it up in a new browser and/or deleting all your cookies to see if it gives you the standard interface, rather than the reduced one, assuming that's what it is. I will do some more digging.......
I’m starting to feel jinxed. I have been into my seller preferences which brings me up nothing I saw on your screen. I’ve cleared cookies etc on my laptop and my mobile, it isn’t on auction and yet i still cannot find anything that says variations. Is it because when I list i have to “find a match” to list rather than it all being blank?
@@theplantlady2024 it might be, try starting from scratch in 'My eBay' and start the listing as if it's a T-Shirt and see if you can see it then. A few years ago I started a new personal account and it had a completely different listing interface with less options, but later it changed back to the version I had been used to with more options. I don't know how to change between the two.
Hi i am new to this selling items on Ebay, i am in the middle of trying to tell my handmade wooden coasters. i have filled out all the correct additonal and recommed and required. and i still can't find variation. I don't know what i'm doing wrong
Hi, no, I'm in the UK and I have the dots. It might be if you're running it from the app, rather than in Chrome or a web browser, or the option might be in a different place on your listing page - I would try the following: 1) Try logging in to eBay from Chrome on a laptop or desktop PC, not a tablet / phone. 2) find a listing which already has variations in ebay and click "Sell Similar" and see if that looks any different. 3) There might be an option somewhere else to enable it, so try everything which looks like it might be an options or a settings button. 4) Sign out of eBay, delete all of the cookies in your browser and then log back in again. Good luck :)
@@NabilAmenchar the only other thing I can think of is to change category to Tshirts or something you know has variations - you could even try finding an item with variations and clicking the "sell it yourself" button which is just below the main picture when you open up someone else's listing, to see if it gives you more options......
Ive been using ebay since 2004 and never had a problem writing a description. Recently i wrote a description, and instead of coming out exactly the way i typed it, with *bulletpoints listed vertically, its blended all my writing into one. So instead of looking down the description, its making me scroll horizontal and its just a mess. Any idea what im doing wrong? I think its a text formatting issue. Im also using a smartphone to list it instead of the pc.
I've had issues with the formatting before, not exactly that issue but I find that bullets will sometimes change font or ignore the fact that you've changed font or text size and stay tiny / rubbish - I find that it's worse when you write it in another programme and paste it in to eBay after. I've not listed an item from my phone for ages, so I'm not much use for this one I'm afraid. I think it's best to send feedback to eBay and if enough people do it, they might change something. It's definitely the weak link in the listing process. Good luck :)
@@JamesDoesThings Since writing this, i done a bit of research and it was a hassle! The formatting on ebay automatically switched wordwrap on, so i had to copy and paste my description into a Word Doc, and switch wordwrap off, and it changed back to normal. Then i copied and pasted it back into ebay. That worked! Thanks for taking the time to reply.
@@reflux043 thank you for commenting, especially with the solution! Most of the times I had an issue it was when I wrote in word and then pasted into eBay, so it's ironic that you solved it using exactly that method :) Cheers
@@JamesDoesThings Well i did try copying pre-written text from a notepad into the description on ebay first, and it didn't work. I also tried cutting it & pasting it into google docs and back to ebay with no luck either, so the word doc is the best way. I'll need to list something else and see what happens. Maybe try it on the phone app and my tablet app, and see if there's any difference.
Are you on a tablet / phone or an app version of eBay? I'm using Chrome on a windows PC. If being in a browser like Chrome or similar doesn't work, maybe try finding someone else who has a variation listing and clicking 'Sell one like this'. On mine I get 3 options when I click the dots: -Settings (the one you need) -Feedback -Latest Update In settings there is only one option - Variations ;) Good luck!
Glad it helped you and thanks for letting me know as it's good to know what the actual problem & solution is for people, because it's not the same for everyone. :)
Variations are unavailable for this listing. Eligibility is limited to qualifying item categories, Buy It Now pricing formats, and other criteria. It says this FOR ALL OF MY LISTINGS! Buy it now is enabled... variations are enabled.
It's a strange one, some people have the option there without trying, some people can't have it no matter what they do! If you've already tried using a different browser / app, I'm not sure what else you can do. Good luck!
It's actually a simple fix for new accounts on pc act like your starting a new listing search for what you want to list and it show prompt you if you want to use business tool for listing click this and all your troubles are gone.
I think you might need to do it on desktop - I don't have the option on my Android eBay app and honestly, I don't think I'd want to do it on my phone because the variation interface isn't great. Try it on desktop if you can. Good luck!
Hi, I noticed even more changes to the listing screen recently, so I don't know what yours looks like but all I can says is check the following things: 1) Buy it Now , not auction 2)Pick a category like Tshirts (which you can change later0 3) look for 3 dots or a slider or some other options at the top of the screen or the top of each area in the listing which might allow you to unlock more options. 4) if that still doesn't work, try a different browser (chrome) or different device (Desktop PC, not tablet or mobile) I hope this helps!
