Lol of course Tibalt would be the one that gets set in the uncommon section.
I'm kind of mad about it, since Tibalt is legitimately one of the better alternate arts.

Immediately after filming this video Rudy called his distributors and asked for all the Japanese War of the Spark
First he checked the names of the cards, then flipped the f out when he realized what the hell was going on.. then he called all the distributors of US and bought all japanese boxes
This was all a fake reseal but because it was all good cards there's no suspicion. Marketing that's good for all. Since he could tear it down the sides he never checked the glue.
This box is BONKERS!!! Even in english this would've been insane!!!

alternate art is supposedly 1 out of every 2 packs or 50%. Have seen a couple other box openings, and none of them even came close to this. That box is 11/10
the only boxes that came close to this good/were this good were boxes with liliana. that tamiyo is absolutely goddamn gorgeous.

One of the artists that did alternate art for this set (Liliana) was Yoshitaka Amano, who was one of the lead character designers for Final Fantasy (Up until Final Fantasy VI, but he kept doing promotional art for some of the Final Fantasy games after that). I know you have interest in the Final Fantasy series, so I thought I'd mention that. He's also credited with creating and working on several other popular Anime and video games.

Ok, the first Angrath is alternate, the second isn't. He also he put a normal Davriel into the alternate art pile, as well as an alternate wanderer in the normal pile that he seemed to completely miss.

I didn't pull quite as many alternates as this, but scored an alternate Lily!🤩 Love the alternate art! The Narset you pulled early on was regular art. You also put a Tibalt in the regular pile.

The reason the art has a classic feel is because for the first time in 7 years there's no agenda behind the artwork direction, they just want it to look cool.

That foil Tamiyo paid for the box on its own. I’ve opened about 15 of these boxes, and on average, you’ll get 12-18 alt art planeswalkers. The average per box is probably 14.
man i love the artworks like bankrupt in blood and deliver unto evil. the cards just come to life with such a painterly style and it feels waay more precious than the 3d rendered hybrid art that they commonly use now.

Maybe those Asian Magic cards are treated the same way, maybe because of the heat & humidity...?
3rd one is Narset not Alt art. The Davriel was also not Alt art. The Tibalt and Wanderer were Alt art, but you didnt put it in the pile. 2nd Angrath was not Alt art.

An easy way to distinguish the Japanese alt art cards is to look at the artist name. They have the artist name printed with English and Japanese characters.
The alternate art is supposed to be a 50/50, it's just difficult to get because it's only in Japanese boxes.
12:15 what you are seeing is passion going into the artwork again. something that has been missing from most magic artwork for a long time.
First I was triggered by the narset and the davriel, and then i got doubly triggered when he opens a japanese narset and it falls almost right beside the normal art narset and he doesnt notice. Then he has both the alternate art angrath and normal angrath in the japanese pile and doesnt notice.
The tibalt alt in the Uncommon pile adds to the triggers
So I live in Tokyo, and you can't even get boxes of that stuff HERE. Every time stores get restocked they're sold out within hours.
I was lucky enough to get a box day of release though.
The alternate art is 50/50. My box had exactly 18 alternate art PWs. You got a good hit rate though.
Frkm what i remember theres a few tcg shops in akiba. Would it be possible to buy cards there and sell them with a profit in us/eu ?
@@grzegorzzapotoczny6599 Probably, but it would be slim margins due to the price of shipping. The resellers in the US who have stock of the Japanese walkers (for example) are getting their raw stock from WotC and cracking them.
Gonna be in tokyo next year anyway. So even for a small commission. Guess its worth it

Hey Rudy, love your channel and I love the video. This was really an awesome experience and I lost track of how many times my jaw hit the floor over how beautiful some of the art is so thank you for opening this on camera for all of us.
One complaint, please, in the future, if you don't know if it's alternate art, please just look it up rather than trying to guess and go back and forth between saying we're getting one in every pack and one every other pack. It was just really annoying. Other than that, again thank you so much for making this video.

Nice, these actually look a lot better than i thought. I think each time you pull a planeswalker, it's 50/50 normal/alt art. So you can get hosed on a box. I wonder what the price difference will be once boxes are in abundance.

That being said, I thought it would be necessary to add that was a normal Narset and the Second Angrath was normal, and a special Tibalt, the rest were accurate reactions pm

If you are unsure, check out the artist name on the bottom of the card. You'll recognize the household names like Slawomir Maniak and Aleksi Briclot = not alternate artwork.

Yep, I was screechin at the screen. Soo many regular arts being called alternates. Gotta agree though, those alternates look nice.
Protip for the next one if you open another: The alternate arts have the artist name in Japanese.
Also, they're expensive because the boxes aren't easy to get, not because the cards themselves aren't easy to get in packs.
Truth. I spent a few hours in Akihabara looking for them and only one store had boxes and wouldn't sell more than one per customer.

This is not a negative comment. I just want some information. How many boxes do you have to buy for every new set to justify the 15 dollars a month you have to pay on patreon to get the 79 dollars shipped? Do sets come out every 3 months or less? So that's 45 dollars in patreon money. It just feels like your paying retail price for the box or higher with the patreon. Idk can someone enlighten me?
The rares are 8~10x as expensive as their normal
And some alt art uncommon are worth 10x too like narset's alter because of the value of the good looking art

Also the chance to get an alter is about 50%
And getting a foil of that alter is really rare. That's why the foil alt art of Liliana is going about 1000$ because no one has gotten one. Foil Bolas alt art, one was sold for 350$ here in my country.
I was there in Tokyo on release night opening boxes. Some dude opened 100 boxes and no foil alt art lili but I went around the shops and found at least 5 cheapest was roughly 800 USD.

I like how the alt art JP edition planeswalker from a standard set look way better than the Timmy Mythic Premium ones.
The Narset you pulled is normal art. Huatli, and Mo Yianglin was alternate art...;)

Rudy I think the reason these things are pretty darn pricy is partially bc it is like Full Art/Secret rare cards in Pokemon, which are expensive (although i cant explain how they are worth so much when they are so common in boxes, cuz in pokemon boxes you might get like 2-4 in a box)
I love the nissa, nahiri, and saheeli alternate arts. I'll probably pick them up as singles eventually

You just had some kind of a God-box for Japanese. You pulled all the good ones except for the one.They are expensive because 1; boxes are hard to get (like sold out),
2:They're ONLY in Japanese boxes
3:Only 1 in 2 are Alt (and you got realy lucky with the pulls).
Non-Foil alternate art Narset is like $26 on TCGplayer. I want to know why the supply is so low that an uncommon costs as much as a mythic.

Those alternate artwork cards are pretty cool. Most of them look like anime characters, which makes sense.
