    My neighbors recently trimmed their robusta's and I thought "hmmm, maybe there are some seeds that fell on the ground from the robusta." so I checked and sure enough there was like 5-10 seeds all over the ground, so I picked them up and burried the seeds in indivitual pots, 2 weeks later (present as of typing this comment) they have sprouted! So I went to this video, not for a tutorial, but to see how they grow from seedling to tree, I am excited to see mine grow and grow over the years to become a giant tree.

    Excellent job, I have 20 Washie seeds in soil, awaiting shoots! My oldest is 1 year old and it's amazing how thick the trunk is getting.

    I have a Mexican Fan Palm and during the winter I brought it inside and then the crown of the palm got rot and the leaves all fell of then I put it outside and the center Speer came out but the trunk of the palm is not mushy. Is there a way I could bring it back?

      Try copper fungicide and/or hydrogen peroxide

    • @TheJames2929
      @TheJames2929  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      All I use is hydrogen peroxide. Try that and just give it a time sometimes they take a few wants to start growing if it’s still hard it might be alive

    Mine took 5 whole weeks to sprout, even though I was doing everything right. I was about to throw them out when I noticed the seedling!

    Great instructional video. Can you use a regular heating pad instead of buying a heating mat? I have some Californian Fan Palm seeds and wanting to grow some in my living room, I have a fluorescent/sodium grow light that I use for my indoor tomatoes can I use it with the palm trees?

    • @TheJames2929
      @TheJames2929  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes the light will work fine you do not want to use a heating pad like for your back the temperature will be too hot and will cost you too much money running it the ones that are designed for plants are very cheap as cheap as $20 Canadian and do not cost much power to run

      @@TheJames2929 understood and thanks for the swift reply. I’m excited to begin. I just my seeds yesterday and will put them in water after work. I guess it doesn’t matter using tap water vs spring/distilled water. Thank you

    Where did you get the seeds from?

  • @davidtomanec

    what kind of sprouting clay do you use? what temperature is your greenhouse? and how wet is the clay in the bag? please advise, my seeds get mold every time, I'm desperate, thank you very much for your advice

    • @TheJames2929
      @TheJames2929  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Do you not use clay by a brand new potting soil that is designed for germinating seeds there will be no organic matter in there if not take your potting soil and cook it in your oven to kill all of the organic material The temperature of the baggy should be around 75 to 85 Fahrenheit

      @@TheJames2929 Thank you very much for your valuable advice, I ordered a special clay that is designed for germinating sensitive seeds, it is sterile and has a balanced Ph in it, the seller claims that it is the best product on the European market, I will try it and see how it goes . The biggest problems I have with Johannesteijsmannia altifrons seeds are very sensitive, they germinate quickly but always the sprout gets moldy, I have already lost 3 seeds like this, I am desperate, I also reduced the temperature to 86 degrees fahrenheit, I still need to reduce the humidity, now i have 96% humidity but i think it is too high humidity.

    Do you declare the seeds on the plane back to Canada or just hide them? I’ve always wanted to but too scared with customs

    • @dailyfactcentral
      @dailyfactcentral ปีที่แล้ว

      you can bring them back no prob. i brought some foxtail seeds back from miami to southern ontario🇨🇦. and those foxtails are about the size of a walnut haha

    Do you leave the seeds in the dark to help germinate

    My seeds are floating! 😲

    • @TheJames2929
      @TheJames2929  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Usually that means that they have gone bad, or that they have not had the outer shell removed the outer shell can float. You might have to crack them off and get the tiny seed out of the center.
