    Thanks for the video Jason. Successfully removed my celestron 130 primary. Slight problem to start with as the thumb screws are the adjustment screws on mine and to remove the mirror you undo three small black screws separate from the locking and adjustment screws. Just incase anyone else has the 130eq as a beginner like me. Off to watch more of your videos now.

    My friend , what is the use if the small cap in between the telescope dust cap...?

    • @smalloptics753
      @smalloptics753  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello there friend. The 2 small dust covers that are on the main dust cover are quite useful, for instance, If you haven't got a moon filter you can use them to cut down the moons glare when viewing it with a telescope by keeping the main cover on and just remove one of the small dust covers. This will act like a aperture stop cutting down some of the moonlight so that it is easier on the eye. Another useful thing you can do is use them a focus aid...I will leave you a link to a video I made on how to do that.. Take friend, clear skies :)

    Hi, great channel!
    I have an quastion. I bought an used teleskop, very cheap. My teleskop has only 3 screws instead of six. Its an older sky watcher 150/1200 N, a blue one. Are this adjustment screws only without lock screws?
    Best.
    Edit: I found it, it is the protecting cover :)

    is it common for a brand new newtonian to come with an already pinched optic from overtightened mirror clamps? I been collimating mine over and over, and the sight always seems to be blurry or never seemed focused. I feel as if my $80 dollar refractor has a better view than this 400 dollar solomark. Idk, I been researching many hours, am starting to regret getting a newt as one of my first telescopes....

    My telescope didn't come with a center marker on the primary mirror. What would you recommend I use to mark the center. I was thinking about using those little white donut shaped hole protectors or just a small dot with a Sharpie. Thanks a million for sharing.

    Hello Jason! I don't think you are using SCT. I haven't seen any in your videos anyway. Nevertheless, I would like to know how the primary mirror can be removed with this type. Do you have any experience with this, or anyone in the community? Greetings from Berlin, Germany

    Hi Jason! Another great video! Should we mark the position of the mirror cell with respect to the tube before removing the mirror cell? I have heard that it helps in collimation a lot. What's your opinion on this? :)

    • @smalloptics753
      @smalloptics753  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hello Irfan, thank you friend. To be honest, a mirror usually needs a full collimation after removal anyway...So I don't mark it...Some do..I don't... Marking the cell/tube does help a little...But you've still got to collimate no matter what. :)

    Hi Jason can I ask a question please, if this mirror has damaged to its side where the brackets are should it still work or would it just be black? Any help would be appreciated thanks Deby x 💜 🐾 🐞🦔🐿🌠💜

      If I had a blotch of mirror damage, I'd take a scale modeling paint brush or Qtip and cover just the damage with flat black paint and steam on.

    • @stanleybest8833
      @stanleybest8833 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't think all mirror caps disassemble like Jason's. Some are permanent collimated and I believe a lot of production caps are just those 3 side screws to lift off the whole plastic cap.

    I wish someone would do a video on how to remove the primary mirror in a reflector telescope that does NOT have two sets of screws in the primary mirror mount. I have a Solomark Polaris 130EQ and this telescope only has the adjustment screws on the mirror mount, and no locking screws. And it appears that the mirror mount doesn't just slide out of the end piece with the trim. It looks like, to get the mirror out of this telescope, the entire trim assembly has to entirely come off by removing the screws that Jason mentions in this video are nothing to do with mirror removal. And I have watched so many videos on removing the mirrors, and adjusting the mirrors, and cleaning the mirrors, and there doesn't appear to be any other telescope on earth that shares this same design in the primary mirror mount as the Solomark Polaris 130EQ, which probably doesn't bode well for the quality of this scope, but here we are. And I'm scared to death to just start unscrewing things... lol
    I just want to find one video of someone removing the primary mirror with a similarly designed mirror mount before I just start hacking away...

    Well, following your instructions to the ‘T’ , and while unscrewing the last screw, the mirror assembly fell to the bottom. So I’m gonna SUE; I’m gonna get my bully boys to visit ya; and worse of all; I’m gonna sic my wife on ya.
    Not really…. The mirror and assembly it’s attached to seem to be intact. … I just had to tease you a bit. Now returning to the video.
