It's not a matter of using math or getting used to the acceleration differences. It really just takes a lot of mechanical skill. The generally understood theory right now is that you can get good with many different sensitivities and sticking with one sens forever doesn't make you better. Using a variety of sens over the years can help build up better mechanical skill in general by working different muscles groups for aiming. That said, it will take much more effort to adjust to using mouse acceleration at a high level in actual gaming, and for a lot of people, that extra effort likely isn't worth it.
This isn't entirely true. Didn't actually watch the video yet, no idea if they're right, but a large part of mouse accel is math. I got a friend (StarkLN) who's top 10 or so in the world for dynamic clicking. He never uses mouse accel as every scen he runs would require a different curve, or else he'd be at a disadvantage, and he's "too lazy" to change it every time. Basically, your speed and sensitivity are the two factors that affect your ability to hit a target. In static, and most cs, val type games, you can get to a target with a variety of ways, just depending on how fast you move. But when you're adjusting to/tracking a quickly moving target, there's a certain sensitivity and speed combination range you have to stay between to stay on that target, based on it's speed. Accel will end up warping this range, and often times a certain curve will make a certain target incredibly harder to hit. I have one curve that's basically op in ground plaza, take it into pgti and it'll kill you. It accelerates too quickly for when the bot isn't at it's apex and makes it super hard to hold the target. However, in ground plaza, it gives you a great sens for quickly tracking the bots that circle you and precisely tracking the far away ones. The adjustment period is highly overrated. If you're already use to sens changes, you'll be fine on it in a day, better in a week at whatever that curve is optimized for. But optimization is a huge part of accel. Obviously it's not granting you mechanical skill, but it let's you essentially trade in skill that you won't be needing for skill that you need more of in that scenario. Like I don't need much pgti level tracking in Val, so I use a really nice static curve. Debating editing it to account better for strafing enemies.
I HIGHLY recommend trying out natural gain (the one that looks like a log graph). The reason is simple. At slower speeds (wrist aiming), it's must easier to be precise. At much faster speeds, such as when you are swiping your arm across the mousepad, it's harder to "control" the mouse. Thus, as you increase the mouse speed, the acceleration is less..
Hi as someone who plays mobile games like cod ,pubg,Apex legends mobile,i have tested a lot on this Acceleration has always been a part of sensitivity settings in these games as touch area in the device is low depending on your screen. Two different acceleration are distance and speed, distance means as the distance u move the finger the faster ur cursor will be. speed is the more commonly used as explained in the video The advantage is u can use very low camera sensitivity for precise aiming and Speed accl for flicking 180 It is more useful for assault rifles, for snipers u have to get used to it more ,as the speed accl is also applicable to your ads sensitivity, in ads too speed accl comes in.nice to see pc gamers are catching on.😁
Yes. Custom mouse acceleration is completely viable. I have been using RawAccel linear curve for almost 2 years now and switching to regular sens feels wrong. However, using a premade acceleration, that is an option in windows or in a game is not recommended. Do not listen to anyone, who has not used acceleration seriously for more than a month or two. The best advisors to listen to in terms of acceleration are the people at r/mouseacceleration, because most of them have enough experience with different curves. All the talk about "it will ruin your muscle memory" and "You cant be precice" are false in terms of custom curves. Most of these statements exist because people dont know about custom curves, but instead are only familiar with Windows enhanced pointer precision etc. I highly recommend trying a RawAccel linear custom curve. It does not destroy your muscle memory, because humans are good at adapting to change. Just pick a curve you like and stick with it. It will feel weird for the first few days, but it is worth it in the long run.
I also used to use RawAccel but at the time Faceit wasnt sure if is allowed ot not so they said they wouldnt ban me but i wasnt allowed to use in officials now im not planning to play competitive but at the time this break my heart
you could have a specific curve that is constant,Jumps to next sens and constant like astair to essentially have a dpi toggle. wanna be precise? aim slow wanna flick ? aim faster
@@LoneBeastYT exactly, I didn’t know about rawaccel and was going to try the windows one for this exact reason but I found out you can customize all this stuff and it’s perfect. You can even change the rotation of your sensor to match how you naturally move left to right and make the lines perfectly straight. It’s crazy what you can do you can make it feel very life-like and that’s exactly what’s needed. You can have the best of both worlds, fast turns and precise flicks / movements.
@@LoneBeastYT that could make tracking targets that suddenly move faster or get closer really weird and uncomfortable. Imo a gain graph with a jump curve is better as it smoothes out the cap, making the jump a lot less uncomfy.
The best way i can describe understanding mouse acceleration is: when you throw a ball in real life you instinctively know how fast to move your arm to get the ball to the exact distance you want. throwing a ball precisely takes practice but its not impossible to throw consistently eventually. it's as if some of these people never played physical sports.
exactly, if you want to go fast in real life, well, you go fast. I kind of expect to turn faster then normal when moving fast lol. If I want to be precise I move slowly / slower. Simple enough. If you want consistency and are on a lower sens you can do that but have fast 180s / 360s to. Best of both worlds. It’s a very welcome customization that everyone should play around with if they are serious about getting better. As this is something that can help immensely, you can customize your mouse to you. Less adapting to it more time to actually get good.
I think the benefits of mouse acceleration diminish greatly when you have adequate desk space (and the resulting mousepad room). You get the best of both worlds. You just use your arm for 180s.
I main a 75cm and I use accel, accel is best for low sens as you can retain speed but keep precision. I got my voltaic nova 1w4t score on accel and was getting 1600 10 sphere hipfire extra small scores on 103fov.
Not necessarly, I personally considered using mouse accel because i used to struggle at having a wide range of motion, even tho i have the space for it. Like I could control small ranges of motions, I could control large ones too, but the mix of both, nope. What I mean is I could either be snappy or smooth in my movements, but I struggled to be consistently both, like if my brain couldnt naturally make the switch. However, I thought using mouse accel would just be a way to mask an issue I should just properly fix, so I just worked on that, and now Im starting to be satisfied with the state of my aim motions, without mouse accel.
There are a lot of accel users on big pads as a lot of people use it as mostly a comfort option. But there’s always exceptions. The aimgod above me, Paytrolah, Uses accel because he has developed rsi in his wrist I believe and it hasn’t fully recovered afaik.
Many years ago when I still played 1.6 and was a young teen I used to play super low sens with mouse accel. I wen't from average aimer to good in about 1-2 months. It won't suit everyone and I think majority people will hate it, but it did fit me very well. I used to play something like 1.1 sens on 400 dpi basically without mouse accel I had no chance to turn 180. However since I came back to FPS few years ago after not playing any for over a decade mouse accel does not feel the same. And currently I play with mouse accel off, but my aim again became avarage and I have to play way above my comfort zone low sens. I'm currently at 0.377 1000dpi in Valorant. Not sure how many times faster that is but I can do 360 on my mouse pad with no issues.
I've done the things, and I've been using raw accel for over a year and it's been amazing. I can still learn movement while having a slow sense to track enemies. Once you fine a curve you'll have some unstoppable aimbot momemts.
I believe the main reason everyone turned off mouse acceleration was for the flick shot. With not having to deal with acceleration, you can have an easier time perfecting flick shots. But for a player who doesn't flick shot, I believe linear or logarithmic acceleration could be beneficial.
No the reason is because the windows accel is utter trash. Mouse accel is good if it is linear. On windows it is not only exponential but isn't one curve but multiples with arbitrary points where a new exponential curve begins
I turned off mouse acceleration as an experiment, and I feel like i'm using a windows 3.1 machine. Overshooting, looping, etc. I think my mind has adapted to the inbuilt acceleration CERTAINLY for productivity. In games, (of which online competitive I rarely do) it feels intuitive as well. HOWEVER! I will try it without, but the style I use the mouse (full palm on desk, highish sensitivity, mouse never moves more than ~2.5 inches, fingers flat on triggers, mouse never touching palm) I really appreciate the acceleration.
I was an acceleration naysayer for years, but I've been using the linear mouse accel with the RawAccel program and loving it! I developed a lot of RSI with my 60cm/360 and mouse accel is saving my wrists.
I’ve been using mouse accell for a year or so and making content with it, it’s a great thing that allows me to aim with a low sens without putting strain on my shoulder with my torn labrum.
I dove deep into using RawAccel a couple months ago. Gave each curve I tried a few sessions to feel it out and the ones that felt best I spent some time tweaking til I found a curve that works for me. I’ve seen my avg dmg go way up in Apex. The biggest problem imo is that anyone wanting to compete at or near pro level really shouldn’t be getting used to it because most of the time u won’t be able to install any custom accel software onto LAN PCs
I’m a high Sense wrist Aimer. My reason for using it is to be able to flick at a high speed but track at a low sens after I flick onto a target. I made sure I understood mouse accel as much as I could before I tried it. It was a very smooth transition, and I can still play with out without it.
Hey, i am the same type of aimer u. Was searching for help to set it up for me but found non as the majority of players seem to play low sense. Would be great if you provide me with some more information
@@ovithegreat8817 bro i too use high sens( eDPI 375 )for Valorant. I plan to use Raw Accel but, in the reverse way. Micro adjustment is difficult with this sens. Is there a way where if i move my mouse fast enough my dpi decreases instead of increasing? You got any tips or settings for that?
I actually used mouse accel essentially as training wheels, as I struggled to aim with windows pointer precision either on or off Now that I have a large mousepad and have learnt how to aim on low sensitivity, I use no accel
As someone who had played for many years with windows acceleration before I even knew what windows acceleration was, it just became natural overtime and you just do the math in your head subconsciously to where its just natural to know how hard to flick, how much to adjust and at what rate. At a time before raw input kind of wrecked that, my sensitivity in Source from 06 to '15 was 600DPI @ 0.93 sens with 0.9 zoom sens. In CSGO for some reason, I needed to increase the sens from 0.93 to 1.15 and it felt identical. Before I took the game really seriously, I was just bumbling about with the setup and able to fight on the level of, and I quote a friend who was an ESEA Main player, "On par on most ESEA Main Players" in terms of raw aim skill. Sometimes, I'd tinker around with the in-game acceleration just to screw around and have more fun but then I'd revert with no in-game accel but have windows accel still up. Needless to say, I switched over to raw input since mid 2015 and never gone back, though with this video, I'm starting to entertain the thought of coming back and adapting to it again just for the lulz and giggles. Yeah, it screws up built in muscle memory but I barely had that after 2019, cuz you know, ya get old, get a job and stuff and just lose practice. Thanks for the content once again theScore \o/
Just realized that I never turne off the windows mouse accel, which explains something like why I am constantly over an then under flicking targets, so now I'm switching to raw accel instead, wish me luck!
I Love Mouse Acceleration because I can literally do anything with it. I use RawMouseAccell. It is possible to play high sens and have a slower sens for micro adjustments and anywhere above the 0.5 cm your normal Sens applies. It is also possible to play on low sens and only let the Acceleration kick in when you flick out of your FOV. Ofc that takes a couple of minutes to set up but it is so worth it. I can also set a limit to the mouse accel which basically means I can max the sensitivity at 1.5 of what my normal sens is. Raw Mouse Accel is literally the perfect programm for everyone who likes playing with settings and is all about aim. However I do not recommend it for casual players because you do need to be able to have fairly good control over your mouse.
The problem is getting reliable answers from any games tech support regarding interaction with anticheats on mouseacceleration drivers imo. I've tried this for valorant and cs support without getting any clear answers to if it's safe to use for people who've invested alot of money in their accounts. Some accels get blacklisted from being used due to interactions/modifications done in the past to make different types of aimbots for instance. I'd love to use rawaccel as it would provide better curves for me due to a shoulder injury. Also I've got different types of sensitivity stages I feel comfort at but not 100% for all situations. Custom accel's in some games are not the worst but they don't let you monitor or look at any drawn lines or curves done, so messing with min to max scales and ratios is not the easiest thing to do or understand. For years people have been sceptical of higher dpi's as well, and recently it turns out it's to be preferred regarding input lag and pixel-skipping & jitters to mention one thing. Any FOV-zoom seen in slow motion will highlight the benefit of a higher dpi. Although some grips, techniques, sensors and hand-eye coordination will maybe have a bad impact for some, but that's more of a frequency of movement issue (how often you actually move inches and your sensitivity to dpi realationship. So for a low sens gamer that can't flick effectively or a high sense aimer not being able to "fine-tune" micro aiming mouse accel would indeed place as a benefit to both. And from spending thousand of hours in console's and aim maps I can say that adjusting to a few new numbers does not really take that long. But no such driver og program can be used without being afraid of it having some sort of fault-detection rate in anticheats, so getting one that is advertised by or for the biggest FPS gamers would be a must for me. A lot of people say RawAccel is not a problem to use, so why can't I get a "YES, good to go" from any technical support of the games? I'd love to try it for myself without taking a risk of loosing 1000's of dollars in in game content for games that hold a one-strike-out policy.
Rawaccel will not get you banned, it has gotten explicitly whitelisted by faceit, vanguard, esea and some other russian anticheat, plus it’s a proprietary signed driver meaning it should not get flagged by any anticheat.
@@Healp145 Every response I get from valorant support can not give me such a whitelisted view on it. No matter how hard I try, how much Information I provide or try to clarify upon I'm not getting these answers. So where does these statements come from? Other then on one post from the creator on their official discord server? I can't find it, and I certainly can't get the answer from a technical team in riot/vanguard.
In my opinion, no acceleration is syncing up your fast and slow twitch muscle for precise flick while with acceleration is using slow twitch muscles for micro adjustments or micro flicks & fast twitch muscles for fast bigger flicks like 180 turns
When you mentioned that windows enhanced mouse precision, I remember turning a setting on like that, went, checked, its on, oof. Turned it off and CSGO feels so much better.
I feel like it would help if we had an aim trainer that records your mouse's velocity per flick. If we had an aim trainer like that, we can more easily find how to limit the value of mouse acceleration. I still feel like having no mouse acceleration and just having bigger desk space is much more easier to get more accustomed. It does sound cool to dual wield sensitivities and in theory, it sounds powerful. In the end, it's all about preference. Most of the time, it's not your peripherals that give you a high hurdle to jump over(unless it's your monitor or CPU god don't play on 60 hz trust me), it's your mind and mentality.
i play overwatch where fast sense is necessary because the game can be rather chaotic and unpredictable. the fast sense is crucial for flick shots and quick 180°s to deal with flankers. But in overwatch fights can happen at multiple ranges, and a fast sensitivity makes precise aiming on distant targets rather difficult. with my mouse accel curve, i can slow my sensitivity down for better precision at range while still keeping a fast base sense and easy 180° turns. it lets me have a sensitivity that works for all scenarios without compromise, I love it.
Interestingly enough, i didnt start using it until i played COD Mobile, when my aim was inconsistent because of a small screen, i needed to be able to 180 while also being able to cross map snipe consistently. Took a lot of practice and still adjusting, but after starting to master it i can say i definitely wouldnt go back.
I recently switched to raw accel in valorant after years of playing raw input on csgo and valorant. It definitely has been a learning curve (pun intended) but I already see the benefits of it. I was able to lower my sens very low because of raw accel (270 eDPI - > 180 eDPI) and my headshot percentage has gone up by about 5% directly because of the lower sens and ability to micro adjust. Normally i wouldnt be able to play that low without raw accel. There are negatives though - Certain spray patterns from certain distances are drastic enough to trigger my raw accel which totally throws off my aim, however, these distances are further away than i really should be spraying anyways so its not a big deal. I think this would have a bigger impact in csgo tbh, esp with the ak. Other than that any negative impact is just the learning how to flick with raw accel. But I think with time it should improve my flicks for sure as i will be flicking faster than most other players and can even micro adjust after i flick faster than the enemy can turn if they use low sens lol. I also have noticed tracking a flying raze is very difficult now, but i think that's again just a learning process.
Im a gyro controller gamer and acceleration is a huge advantage for gyro aiming, because you can do great flicks with a low sens. When you do it with a higher sens without accel. , your aim is always jittery from your hands. And you have more stopping power after flicks.
I actually had mouse accel on for the longest time and I noticed I was able to rifle fairly decent, but AWP/OP'ing was not as easy, my flicks would miss slightly every time, when I turned it off I felt alot more comfortable hitting the small flicks and even some long distance flicks
i tried everything. im using mouse acceleration for 3 years now. eveyrtime i tried to change to "normal" didnt work for me and my brain lmao. i use a little acceleration and a lot of deceleration combined with low DPI and high sens (4.20 lol) in csgo. i kinda have the sweet spot now, and my awp flicks going well, deagle shots are a lot easier and my ak/m4a1 aim wont suffer from it as im able to do small corrections due to the deceleration im using. Fast movement => acceleration kicks in slow/little movements => deceleration helping me to stay withing the range. awp/scout: initial aim (if not on enemy) will flick easily on chest/head due to the "feeling" you get for the acceleration
it's called muscle memory... mouse and keyboard in Halo Infinite it's a must to have any chance against controller auto aim because you need to have low sense so you can easily track a wildly strafing target and land all 3 bullets from your 3 round burst, 4x times in a row, which requires very low sense adjustments from your mouse with overcorrecting leading to death guaranteed... but at the same time, with the same gun, you need to have your close combat, 180° melee abilities absolute on flick guaranteed for your complete combat ready Spartan playing with mouse and keyboard (for since reason?)
For people who have götten güd, it's never been that mouse acceleration can't be made consistent/reliable, it's that mouse acceleration is different game to game, creating inconsistency for anyone who isn't a one game player.

Came back i few months ago and its like my aim was gone. I couldn't remember my settings, and recently i tried mouse accel and it feels like i'm back in my good old days.
Excellent video, on the note of pros using mouse accel, some overwatch pros use raw accel, i know Surefour uses it, and Ster (ex overwatch pro) uses it, both of them like to play different characters, accel gives them that flexibility
Yeah, that's the thing. Hit plat in most games and Eagle in Cs go long time ago. Never once realized I had mouse acceleration on, I'm just used to having it on by now. When I turned it off, I instantly became shit at the game, a rank below my average. I think it mostly benefits those who have a lot of mouse pad space
The benefits of mouse accel are more limited in a slow paced game like Counter-Strike, but in faster games like Quake, TF2, or Overwatch it's much more useful.
Is not what your mouse sensitivity is or if you have mouse acceleration or precision pointer. 99% of people do few fundamental mistakes and is not mouse settings. -First you put to much pressure on the mouse especially during key moments when it comes to kill or be killed, most people panic and they grip mouse to hard and force it down to much causing more friction which alters your ability to be precise quickly enough to kill your opponent. -Second you have bad habits navigating in game environment, basically you just run and gun without developing good habits and logic of movement, observation and adaptation, you have to learn how to dance well, that's what makes your precision aiming that much harder because of your actions, in other words you are never ready to properly do your in game job. -Third many people struggle to decide on mouse settings, like DPI some go as low as 400 dpi and as high as 3000+ dpi, the reality is those are more directed at size or resolution of your monitor, with each different monitor you will get different results generally lower setting is better since you have better control but with that you have slower response, which brings us to muscle memory. Many people think that playing on same settings for a long time will make them more precise because of muscle memory and that is true to some extent, but it limits your ability to some extent, muscle memory is like a parabola that goes from 0 to 100 which would be your range of motion for example, by picking specific setting you only develop portion of your muscle memory, to properly train your precision and response time is to train on the full spectrum, from lowest settings to highest setting, best way to do it is to play inside game on low setting, then try hi setting and spend few hours doing that, then comeback to your typical setting you normally use, you will quickly notice that you are more responsive and more precise, try it. By doing that you will eventually start seeing your proper range that feels good, you will pin point your settings on your mouse and in game sensitivity, once you achieve this you will be head shooting opponents in split second encounters with great precision which takes time to develop. Sometimes when you watch videos of good players it's amazing how fast and precise they can sway quickly almost 180 degrees and one shot somebody straight in the head, it happens so fast it registers only on few frames sometime we observers don't even see it, is like somebody snapped a picture of a frame, to get this good you need to practice, some people make a fast progress and some will be slow but regardless you will get better then where you were before and you will improve over time. Don't run and gun, and look for magic settings, instead train and most of all think how to get even better.
When I played quake3 and cs I used mouse acceleration. I had truly great aim. I stopped playing games for years and come back in 2013 for csgo. Everyone told me to stop using acceleration (and to be honest I couldn´t replicate the exact parameters I had when I created that muscle memory). So I did. My aim was never the same. I was doing those things of doing 180 degrees and headshot someone that was already shoting me from the back. I was moving so fast when I needed it that people though I was cheating, while having low sensitivity when required, and my aim was dope (not profesional level but still), particularly in q3. I lost that because I believed all the people telling me to stop using it.
I have tried play Valorant and other FPS titles and have come to the conclusion that Mouse Acceleration f*cks your aim up and helps you at the same time. I am a low sensitivity player (800DPI 0.305 sensitivity in Valorant) and i can do 180s perfectly fine with the aid of my ginormous 3 feet long mousepad. Yeah. Insane. But mouse accel does help and can improve your aim in certain games such as Rainbow Six Siege where you need to spin around a lot.
I had mouse acceleration turned on in the original CS Half Life mod. I think my mouse was at 400 DPI with 1.25 sensitivity. It was amazing but of course, with people saying that mouse acceleration was dumb, I felt the need to turn it off. Looking back, maybe I shouldn’t have.

Debating editing it to account better for strafing enemies.
lmaoooo not the calculus book that traumatized me in undergrad making it way to theScore esports' video.
Glad I'm not the only one 😭🙏
I HIGHLY recommend trying out natural gain (the one that looks like a log graph). The reason is simple. At slower speeds (wrist aiming), it's must easier to be precise. At much faster speeds, such as when you are swiping your arm across the mousepad, it's harder to "control" the mouse. Thus, as you increase the mouse speed, the acceleration is less..
Very nice. Thanks babe, what do you think of motivity?
Hi as someone who plays mobile games like cod ,pubg,Apex legends mobile,i have tested a lot on this
Acceleration has always been a part of sensitivity settings in these games as touch area in the device is low depending on your screen.
Two different acceleration are distance and speed, distance means as the distance u move the finger the faster ur cursor will be. speed is the more commonly used as explained in the video
The advantage is u can use very low camera sensitivity for precise aiming and
Speed accl for flicking 180
It is more useful for assault rifles, for snipers u have to get used to it more ,as the speed accl is also applicable to your ads sensitivity, in ads too speed accl comes in.nice to see pc gamers are catching on.😁
I play cod mobile on phone but I use keyboard and mouse (using gamesir x1). And speed acceleration works best for me.

Finally a bigger channel covering mouse accel.
Id recommend raw accell a lot of people have had great success with it.
I came for Xantares, stayed for Rosemi behind Colten

Yes I agree but the guy with mouse accel on will turn that 180 faster than the guy with his arm.
That’s not true, you can cap ur accel, so flicking still can be consistent
No the reason is because the windows accel is utter trash. Mouse accel is good if it is linear. On windows it is not only exponential but isn't one curve but multiples with arbitrary points where a new exponential curve begins
@@bubblefishhk4336 exactly, fast turns but consistent flicks / movements. Best of both worlds. You can customize it to your liking so many options.
Linear is no Mouse accel
@@Matrix-su5co late, but no it's not. He's talking about linear acceleration. Velocity would be x^2 if acceleration is linear 2x
It's personal prefence and nothing else. You can easily get used to mouse-acceleration if you want to.

13:44 oh shit is that an index reference.
My man Accelerator is a king... Had to slip him in.

I didn’t even know about this, thank you for telling me, my sense is a bit faster but flicking is much more consistent now. Thx
Nice shots Dimitri
i play overwatch where fast sense is necessary because the game can be rather chaotic and unpredictable. the fast sense is crucial for flick shots and quick 180°s to deal with flankers.
Great thorough vid on a topic that needed more attention and consideration, thanks!
Like all settings, I think Mouse Accel is best to those who are already used to it and made it a pivotal part of their gameplay.

slow/little movements => deceleration helping me to stay withing the range.

it's called muscle memory... mouse and keyboard in Halo Infinite it's a must to have any chance against controller auto aim because you need to have low sense so you can easily track a wildly strafing target and land all 3 bullets from your 3 round burst, 4x times in a row, which requires very low sense adjustments from your mouse with overcorrecting leading to death guaranteed... but at the same time, with the same gun, you need to have your close combat, 180° melee abilities absolute on flick guaranteed for your complete combat ready Spartan playing with mouse and keyboard (for since reason?)
For people who have götten güd, it's never been that mouse acceleration can't be made consistent/reliable, it's that mouse acceleration is different game to game, creating inconsistency for anyone who isn't a one game player.
That is exactly the reason why programs like custom curve and raw accel exist, so we can have uniformity

Bruh the mouse padddddd lmaoooooo
