I play NRS game and going to SF and having to react to my own string every time takes some getting used to lol. So your opinion is 100% valid - MK1 launch and missing features is definitely unacceptable. no practice rank? wth?? - The block button is just different. you need to get used to it. I don't see it as an issue - Rewind's bit on dock os and tek throws was great. More of those please - regarding your opinion on end of round not resetting position, I get it but it's also a mind game. And MK is not the only one doing it. KI 2013 has something similar but with a twist. At the beginning of your second health (KI does not have rounds) there is a transition and you have like ~1s you can move BUT you can't input any attacks, just move and jump. I like that in KI You got yourself a new subscriber. I'd like to see different pros from different fighting games cause I love all fgs. If your content is just SF I probably won't stay long lol. And please if you get Sonicfox, let him talk about DOA cause I heard he started with that game and not many people cover it on a pro level. Maybe a KI episode also would be great. His height i believe was MK9 and Pig Of The Hut and MK Tom Brady's heights were there too. The twins (I'm assuming Ketchup and Mustard and not the Chilean Twins) are regular MK commentators, so is Mr Aquaman.
MK1 is turning out to be my favorite of the big 3. It keeps getting better and better. By the time Kombat Pack 2 is finished, it's gonna be a beast. The love letter to MVC will be completed.

Love this content I can tell you a real one that doesn't speak in black and whites. I'm mainly an NRS player who enjoys anime fighters like GG and DBFZ. With Akuma coming out Im gonna try SF6 because he's been my favorite capcom character. Glad to see more people trying out MK, and I feel you on some of your challenges with the game because I've been playing MK since 2013 or so and I still can't react to throws all the time 😂

This one is a longshot, but NRS needs to split from WB. I dont think NRS has the true creative freedom to make fully fleshed out games with longer lifespans. Capcom and Bandai Namco arent held back in the same way because they're not tethered to corporations that have no real ties to gaming.
The only issue with that is budget. No other company out there will front that check. NRS games are insanely expensive to make compare to other fighting games because of their cinematic approach. No other fg even come close in terms of production value for story mode. That's why they want to milk us and they cannot abandon casuals in favor of competitive. They are the ones bringing in the money and that's why MK remains the best selling fg franchise

The WB to NRS is like what EA is to sports games. Worse even, because at least EA is a gaming publisher at their core. WB is there to put money into NRS's projects and get a ROI from them, that's it.

There's no such thing as "potential", the only that exists is philosophy, and NRS/WB games already had the right one, unlike Japanese fighting game, who couldn't get the right philosophy since Soul Calibur 4
Yo Chris, Quick idea: ever thought about doing like a podcast wit rewind...fgc is always mostly divided based on their fav games...so the idea of an MK pro player and a SF pro player coming together and discussing things about their games on different topics...the sames the differences maybe even what would get u guys to come back to those games since uve both are really considered "casuals" to each others games. Not only that you guys are the few pro players that dont fit the stereotype of gamers who "dont have lives and play games all day" which is typically frowned upon to the outsiders, so ur able to talk about balancing being a pro player/content creator and real life wit jobs, relationships, familes and the pros and cons etc. I even thought of the name The "procasual" (or "pro-casual") podcast "a podcast with pro players who live casual lives"
I strongly believe MK1 was SUPPOSED to be Injustice 3. There are things about it where you can just tell. Look at it's animation, pre-match interaction, fatal blows look like Injustice supers etc. It has an Injustice skeleton, with MK skin. It's unfinished because it wasnt supposed to be MK in the 1st place. But they switched mid development to change it to MK1.
Just fyi for you new Tekken players. You can micro duck grabs in Tekken games too. Most grabs are highs and after successful duck can usely be launch punished.

I LOVE dial-ins. It's made the crossover into Tekken easier. I like being able to figure out combos by pressing button combinations. I think the ONLY issue with it is that you have to commit to certain combos. I think a combo system like Melty Blood: Type Lumina is a nice compromise between the command input system and dial in system.
I can't say this is true but my theory is that Warner Bros lost a ton of money because of their movies. Like Flash bombed, Batgirl was never released. Only Barbie was a huge success for them and they know that MK games sell like hotcakes. So they were trying to recuperate some of the money loss through the MK games, which explains stupid stuff like $12 for a fatality. Normally NRS games are released in April but this one dropped in September like 6 months after it was leaked. The first time we found out about MK1 it was leaked from a WB business call in March talking about the things they have planned For release and sales. That's even more funny because the Ermac patch that just dropped was the first time I have seen majority of the MK fan base genuinely happy with the game. Its missing a lot of stuff still but people are happy with The improvements the game has made. So its weird how a game franchise thats always released in April, released incomplete in September and the first patch people are happy with is an April patch almost as if the game should have been released April 2024 but needed to be rushed out in 2023 for the financial year. I genuinely believe they said "Put the game out in 2023 we need to make money for the 2023 fiscal year and we'll fix all the missing issues after release", because Warner Bros lost a ton of money 2023 with their shit movies
MK1 was also a huge downgrade in character customization from MK11 and INJ2. I can play 75% of the roster in both those games because I wanted to go unlock stuff for them. In MK1, I don’t have any desire to learn the other characters outside of matchups, so I just stick with the 5 characters I like playing. Just cut the INJ2 gear stats and we’re money.
Idk if you play Tekken the strings are not new. It’s just a whole diff thing with the strings and whiff punishing in NRS is very weird but good players can do it REALLY consistent. There is a big big skill in that you can change your play to TAKE ADVANTAGE of this mechanic and it’s what good players do. Taking that away is not that good
The thing about the strings in mk is that it makes cancelling into specials weird if u played any non-NRS 2d fight. Tekken dont have specials so u dont really feel how weird it is when u trying to buffer specials.

If you wanna practice on a pro level you should be inviting people to matches and switching characters. I took almost 3x the amount of time to do ONE Ranked match compared to SFV between character switch, fatal blows, fatalities
No, just no on seeing your opponents character at select. All it does is create a standoff at character select where the first person to choose looses. If you want to switch after then maybe. However, they just need character based ranks like sf6 where it’s about learning to adapt and overcome challenges with that character, keep that counter pick shit in tournament. If you are going into ranked with idea that it’s not about being the best with your specific character or you don’t think your character is good and that matters to you then pick someone else to begin with.
MK1 is NOT unfinished, it is a PHENOMENAL game, Rewind just talks out of his butt like the rest of the NRS/WB interent community do. The mechanics in MK1 are not handholding at all, unlike Heat in T8 or Drive system in SF6.

The treating of content in general, what was it? season of mileena and it still had the havoc logos? Fatal blow and rage art / rage are lazy and flat mechanics. I love tekken but man… what capcom did with the meter. Yea its also a comeback mechanic , but its so mich more diverse. Its a literal skill to manage meter on street fighter and pick the right spots to use it. It even interacts with the burnout mechanic, cause if you’re burnout and you do not even have invincible lv1 , you are fked. Capcom really thought about a comeback mechanic that is not ONLY that. I wish tekken would rework rage completely and make it a resource that can be managed and used.

No, just no on seeing your opponents character at select. All it does is create a standoff at character select where the first person to choose looses. If you want to switch after then maybe. However, they just need character based ranks like sf6 where it’s about learning to adapt and overcome challenges with that character, keep that counter pick shit in tournament. If you are going into ranked with idea that it’s not about being the best with your specific character or you don’t think your character is good and that matters to you then pick someone else to begin with.

MK1 is NOT unfinished, it is a PHENOMENAL game, Rewind just talks out of his butt like the rest of the NRS/WB interent community do. The mechanics in MK1 are not handholding at all, unlike Heat in T8 or Drive system in SF6.

@@finnTekken Crossplay isn't as mandatory as rollback netcode. Also you got Tekken 8 which also had added features for online post-launch. That doesn't make the game "unfinished" LOL.

Mk1 has it (i think), street fighter 6 has it (its really good in comparison to v) , tekken 8 now has a really good netcode. i played tekken 8 since launch, i dont know what online features they added, after launch. Its not a controversial opinion mate, i LIKE mortal kombat, i really do. But the game WAS unfinished , and if it was not, its just lacking basic stuff. No option to search out of training mode, it was advertised as HAVING crossplay and then they removed any mention of it and added it like ? half a year ? later , real Character tutorials like the Street fighter ones (tekken is dogshit here aswell) . The treating of content in general, what was it? season of mileena and it still had the havoc logos? I just do not understand people like you, i play all fighting games, i have hundreds of hours MKX, but this shit is not good enough, we are talking about the dev, with the biggest budget available, MK should set GOLD STANDARDS, it should have the BEST training mode, the BEST netcode, the BEST lobbies, hell... even like the guy says, it should HAVE an additional ranked mode thats called... "Tournament" or something, where you CAN switch characters after a loss and it SHOULD be BO3. And (sadly) the numbers in the scene (not SALES) are speaking a CLEAR language. GG strive (release 2021) 2.000 entries in evo, Tekken 8 (2024) 4600 entries in evo , SF 6 (2023) 5200 entries, MK1 (2023) 645......... what is THIS!? dude Third Strike ( release 1999!!!!!!) 1.100 entries. THIS IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH. (sorry for caps)

Mk1 sucks for casuals. That's why I moved on to tekken like most people. Hell even some pros jumped ship. Can't agree with rewind or sonic.

Fatal blow and rage art / rage are lazy and flat mechanics. I love tekken but man… what capcom did with the meter. Yea its also a comeback mechanic , but its so mich more diverse. Its a literal skill to manage meter on street fighter and pick the right spots to use it. It even interacts with the burnout mechanic, cause if you’re burnout and you do not even have invincible lv1 , you are fked. Capcom really thought about a comeback mechanic that is not ONLY that. I wish tekken would rework rage completely and make it a resource that can be managed and used.
