4:45 I also love the depth given to Rudy (Kangaroo's son) in the 2008 version, and how it follows the film's lesson:"A person's a person, no matter how small."
And it shows that just because he's a kid, doesn't mean he has to live under his mom's shadow and can stand up for himself by making his own decisions.🐘🔭📢
OBS.: Funnily the two sons are the ones that end up saving the whos, Jojo does it by making enough noise to be heard and Rudy by catching the clover before it's destroyed.
When you care about attention to detail and realistic stuff, 2008 is the one for you
The score had no right to be as spectacular as it was for Blue Sky’s version. One of John Lowell’s best scores, I feel it’s so overlooked.
Fun fact: A lot of the animation of the Whos playing the instruments in the “WE ARE HERE” scene was recycled from the scene from How the Grinch stole Christmas with the who children making noise on Christmas morning.
Disney-I'm only recycling the Animations!!!
Chuck Jones-Hold my beer!!!!!!
I honestly think Blue Sky's whos (and Whoville) look better than Illumination's whos.
Tbh Blue sky's interpretations of the Who's look like actual ones, but Illumination's ones tho...
@@TheLazyFusspot_3428 it does seem kinda weird when you look back at the two; then again Grinch Whos and Horton Whos seem to be very different in origin since the beginning, when you look back at the books. Like, for example: the Grinch Whoville was originally small, both the Book and Chuck Jones Adaptation, whereas the Horton Whoville is bigger by comparison. Because of this, each adaptation of the Grinch keeps getting bigger to make up for the fact that the original was very small, and tries to connect to the Horton one. Unfortunately, Grinch Whoville and Horton Whoville will still be two different towns, no matter how hard they try.
Did you Chris Melendandri was the head of 20th Century Fox Animation and Blue Sky Studios and produced this film before starting Despicable Me and Illumination other projects.
Because illumination is kinda trash lowball cg animation minions is awful
If they have a mayor
Then who’s the president
They probably don't have one, after all, it is implied that the entire speck is Whoville, so their world would only have that one town, technically making the mayor the king of the world but that's digging too deep.
The older one is mesmerising to look at with the colour palettes and how the characters are staged. Almost like a weird trip.
I like both versions. The main difference between the original and remake are the characters. In the original Whoville is run by a scientist named Dr. Whovey. In the remake Whoville actually has a mayor. Not the same mayor as the one in the 2000 Grinch movie. In the original Jo-Jo is just a small boy who who was playing with a yo-yo. Jo-Jo in the remake is a goth teen and the mayor's son. If I have to pick a favorite it would be the 2008 movie. Because we get to know more of the characters, (I especially like Jo-Jo in the remake.) And they don't break into song all the time.
what's interesting about the story of this movie is, it's the best example of our existence as a whole... we're like the WHO, and we thought we're the only one existed but we never know that our universe as we believe is just a mere speck of dust to something that is bigger, like Horton's
Tell me why the mayor is the only one that looks like a human in WhoVille
In that version the mayor are substitucted by a doctor
I would like to see side by side comparisons of Godzilla, The Wolf Man, The Phantom Of The Opera, The Witches and The BFG.
The BFG is coming soon.
The Godzilla movie's aren't side-by-side able, every reboot is a very different story.
I've been working with Phantom of the Opera for a while, there are a ton of adaptations and I've had trouble whittling them down.
The Witches is a very likely side by side once the new one comes out.
I looked at doing The Wolf Man a while ago but forgot why I didn't move forward with it. I am working on a Dracula one.
@@MattSkuta what about Ben-Hur, West Side Story, The Mummy and Exodus Gods and Kings?
@@MattSkuta Hey, what about "Adventures of Tintin", "Asterix", "Dumbo", "Winnie the Pooh", " Around the World in 80 Days", "Journey to The Center of the Earth", " The Lost World" and "Christmas Carol"?!!!!
The fact that i literally watched this movie EVERYDAY like when the movie went off I would watch it again and again and again. That’s why i am glad to be a part of *j o j o* / Horton hear a who TH-cam
the remake has always been one of my favorite movies even though ive completely forgotten about it
I’m so glad blue-sky gave Dr. Suess the treatment it deserves. None of that low-budget crap you get from illumination, Blue Sky really gave it their all with this one. And it will always have a place in my heart as one if my favorite animated movies, just because of the attention to detail and comedic moments.
And yes, I thought the anime joke was funny.
I kinda wish THEY got to make more Dr. Seuss movies, instead of Illumination.
did´t know there was a previous film!
Yeah it was a short that came on after the grinch credits from the VHS
Fun fact, the mountain that Horton chases Vlad on (2008) is the mountain of the grinch as a easter egg.

In my opinion these both were very amazing and epic 👌👍 :3
I forgot about the recent one, even though that’s the one I remembered seeing over the older one.
I like 2008 better bc it’s like looking in the future about the characters.
I personally like the 2008 version better.
@@MinnieMouse-MickeyMouse_show. in many ways, it had more in common with the book.

Madilyn Carrey Well not all jokes are funny, not everyone has the same sense of humor. Some people find it funny and some don’t.
I prefer the 70s Horton I remember watching it alot when I was younger it just looks more topsy turvy and has brighter colors also I love the traditional animation compared to the cgi not saying the cg looks bad because they did a really good job making it look like the original
I liked how gentle horton was in the 70s version unlike the 2008 version which he was nothing like in the book.
@@prayingkabutops1392 horton was never crazy,it was an error adding this trait, perhaps i like the movie
Thank you for doing this film comparison. I was waiting for something like this to happen a few years later.
I like when Horton's having fun & enjoying life.
When I saw the thumbnail for a second I thought: *Since when does Horton have emo pink hair covering his right eye?*
I Like The Both Movies, But My Nostalgic That I Watch Is The 2008 One, I Have This On DVD
I love the Mountain Chase theme and scene
I would say that this movie deserves a reboot but it's already perfect
I loved how there’s several references to the original special
Wow in the original We Are Here scene, they reused some animations from the Grinch’s Noise Noise Noise Fantasy.
Yeah if you pay attention, there's a lot of this in classic, 2D animation cinema. It's called Rotoscoping. It's a tactic that they employ to save both time and money because the act of animation is so tedious and time consuming.

I see the same thing was done with the Disney Robin Hood and the Jungle Book
@@prestonendresmovies Yeah exactly. The dance scenes. It's a cool concept

2008 had the anime scene, therefore it wins.
This is one of the better Dr. Seuss adaptations
How The Grinch Stole Christmas, The Cat in the Hat, The Lorax and Green Eggs and Ham?
@@brianodonnell4496 L O L... Low-budget films, which mostly disrespect the reviews and stories of Dr. Seuss (Lorax) and in turn use an actor to serve as a distraction in the film "How The Grinch Stole Christmas" (2000) & "The Cat in the Hat" (2003)

who else was -38 years old when horton of the 70s happened, and who else was 8 years old when we saw horton from 2008
If we tell something from 1970 it's 50 years ago....
I know this might sound like a chore to do and you don’t have to do it if you don’t want to but I’d really like to see a side by side of the Fruits Baskets animes.
Unless they make a feature film, no. The rule for the side-by-sides is they have to include at least one movie.
2:53 the original looks like jellyfish fields
Just a Memer actually these are clover field not jelly fish field.
One of the rare few times where I'd say that both movies adaptations are extremely underrated and deserve more love and attention to them.
2008 version is better for me
The 2008 one is very well made in Ice Age style. The film was designed to look magical and like a children's film based on the book
@@laramacdonnell6304 I saw it in the cinema with my class & ate strawberry laces. I so obsessed with it & it'll always be one of my favourites.
Thanks for preparing this as it revealed to me just how much we forget over the years and decades. I saw the 1970 version when I was about 7 in around 1971-2 in the UK [I think it was on TV here rather than in the cinema - it has never been shown here again as far as I know]. I vaguely remembered Horton seeking out a golfball amongst thousands of golfballs thinking the little world resembled a golfball [I have never read or watched any other Dr Seuss stuff - I never even knew it was a Dr Seuss story until 2008]. I thus watched the 2008 version when it was on Sky TV here in the UK around 2009 and it seemed to me to be completely different to what I had seen in 1970. I don't like modern American animations with all their naff kids-in-America voices etc. trying to be 'cool'. Watching the 1970 version earlier today, I could not remember any details from the 2008 one and still though that the two were very different. Now the TH-cam algorithm's AI correctly interpreted my comment about this below the 1970 version and recommended this for me.
If I could make a suggestion, it’d be The Cat in the Hat (1971/2003). While they have their differences, they also have scenes in common, although some of which are in broad strokes. Here are some examples:
1. The kids looking out the window as it rains, looking bored.
2. Their surprise when the Cat shows up.
3. The Cat offering to show them some fun.
4. The Fish telling the kids that the Cat shouldn’t be there.
5. The Cat holding the Fish in the air (although both versions look different).
6. The initial mess made in the house.
7. The Things entering the picture out of the box.
8. Their subsequent chaos.
9. More and more of a mess is made in the house.
10. Mom is on her way home and everyone begins to panic.
11. The Cat leaves a huge mess...
12. ...but comes back to clean it up via a sweeper-like vehicle.
13. Going out the door just as mom walks in.
14. One last shot of the kids.
15. The Cat walking down the street.
What about Horton Hears A Who! (1970/1992/2008)?
Did you know that the narrators had been Hans Georg Conried Jr. and Dustin Lee Hoffman and Charles Osgood Wood III?
Rudy you’re so kindhearted
I prefer the 1970 version. The 2008 film is good, don’t get me wrong, but it does have its hits and misses.
the 1970s version is incredible but oh my god 2008 went so hard
The 08’ HHAW is probably the only Dr Seuss movie adaptation of his books that’s actually good
Yeah, and that's an understatement as well. It's actually a really fun movie that the entire family can enjoy.
1970 was good
I remember not liking the 70’s version, I always liked the 2008 version when I was younger
Que belllisimo esta la comparación de las versiones de Horton Hears a Who
Horton Hears a Who (picture book, 1954), Dr Seuss; abridged from Chuck Jones version (1970).
Horton Hears a Who (1970) is now owned by Warner Bros. Discovery since Turner Entertainment Co. merged with Time Warner in 1996.
Horton Hears a Who (2008) is now owned by Disney since the acquisition of 21st Century Fox by Disney in 2019.
The property, of which the two films are based off of, is owned by Dr. Seuss Enterprises, L.P.
Which is better, Hans Conried or Jim Carrey(when they did played as the Grinch)?

Both are very well done-

I don't know about you but at 2:24 the music crescendo fits well with the 2008 scene idk if its just me
I like that part of the soundtrack! 2:24
i can see the difference's in both of the movies but i find the new one beater than the old on it shows more character
Y la parte de "estamos aquí" tiene mucha mas tensión en la de 2008.
tbh, looking back on it, Horton could've left them in that field. No one would be able to tell which one is the spec flower and it looked like a very untouched place.
He was worried about the mayor which is why he wanted to see if they were safe.
It reminds me of energizer bunny meets Horton hears a who

I think that would be a harder comparison to do because the parts that were in the book and old cartoon are a very small part of the newer film.
When I was young, I watched the first Lorax movie. I also saw the trailer for the 3d remake.
