Once you target the ability of Rotpriest goes on the stack. Doesn't matter if it is around for resolution. The ability still goes on the stack to add the last poison.

Game three guy knew he was at nine poison and changed it to 8 because the other guy forgot to add a counter that’s dirty smh

Game One, the fight spell has two targets, "Target creature you control deals damage equal to its power to target creature you don’t control. Each opponent gets a poison counter." He would have to kill both to counter the spell and not die.

I think the guys on the right playing waste not knows this. Also when you push rotpriest you get a counter as well. That game was over when the rotpriest hit the Battlefield.

Yes. I'm kind of surprised none of his opponents said anything. If a discrepancy had come up the judge would 100% side with whoever is tracking on paper. If they know that, they can use it maliciously.
