He’s not like his character, he’s more fun and energetic than Fez tbh… he’s more lively. Yes he brings a lot of himself into the character, but that’s how acting works. Everyone brings a bit of themselves into their characters. Look at Zendaya for example, there are aspects of her in Rue and in MJ.
