You inspired me to try this Better Natured hair color, because I regularly struggle with unwanted copper tones in my lightened hair. I used the 6A and 7N, along with the Better Natured 20 volume developer and I added the Ardell Red Copper corrector purple liquid packet. This blend worked so well for me! Before coloring my hair, it was between a level 6 and 7. This covered ALL of my unwanted copper and gave me a beautiful ashy mushroom light brown!!! 👏 ❤
Used this line for my base color before highlighting and it worked so well! Even color and no line of demarcation with my old growth and new grey roots. No brassiness. Lightened well with my highlights. Will definitely keep using.
@@belasgirl6even my salon colors my hair with red tones which I hate…. I just paid 300 and I hate the red tons but she saids it doesn’t have red tons ,….i feel like I could do my highlights myself if I could get my nerves built up to try.
Hello Silvia!! Did you touch up your highlights after doing the roots? I see no line of demarcation!!!! How is that possible!!! Thanks for another great video.
I've been watching you for years... I have never had my hair professionally colored and you give amazing tips with a very simple format that's user friendly! Thank you.
Hello as a hairstylist, you highlighted your hair, after you did your roots, when you were showing you before and after pictures What brand did you use for your toner,
I would love to see a video about turning overgrown highlights/lowlights into something more like your current hair. I love your hair but I don't know how to get there from here. Thanks!
This exciting for us DIYers. You make it so much easier with simplified teaching techniques and products that are available to the average consumer. Thank you Sylvia ❤ I don't normally comment but I just wanted to sincerely thank you!
I go to the salon for single process (my natural color is light brown) and blonde highlights. I saw this video and decided to try and color my roots & gray hair myself. I usually would have used a 9N wella color charm, but it always comes out looking brassy. I used the Better Natured, level 10 and it came out great! Not brassy, no orange, and the color kind of blends into my highlights. The only negative is I still see some gray, but it's not that noticeable. Thank you for this video and for recommending this product.
This would have been much more beleivable if you hadn't grey wash filtered your entire video except for the pre-dye section. I wish I could see your color in natural lighting.
I have watched so many of your videos in the last few weeks. It has given me the confidence to do a timer at home to blend my blond going grey hair. I used the Wella T14 and T18. Love it!!! Thank you so much for what you do.
I Have completely gray roots. Would 7A be the same formula to use without turning a greenish color? Currently I use 2 parts 7nn to 1 part 7 A. Looks good for a while, but by the end week of washing my hair every other day, it has turned to a reddish cast in certain lighting. I typically do my roots no less than 4 weeks, Highlights less often. I do like a golden tone to my hair, but not brassy roots. Any thoughts would help? Your hair color turned out great, though you are certainly not solid gray as I am.
I used to be blonde and decided to box dye my hair chocolate brown. It turned a weird grayish green color at the middle to ends where hair was lighter. I was on vacation and googled "how to fix" I put ketchup yes ketchup all over my head. Waited 40 mins then washed it. All that grayish green was gone. Hope this helps ❤
Thank you for your expertise!! It makes trying a new brand way less scary & I feel so much better knowing it has your seal of approval. I'm a natural mousy level 7- looks naturally neutral with golden baby hairs framing my face. I have red heads in my family & my hair pulls slightly strawberry when lightened- it's pretty but NOT what I'm after. Wish they had an ASH in a level 8 or 9. In some brands, natural means golden tones. In others natural seems more neutral. What is the tone in their "natural" shades? I can always add a dab of their gray/silver shade. That is more effective on my hair than pigment drops
Sylvia you are the best! You taught me how to do my own highlights and I get SO many compliments. Learning to do my own root touch ups would be the next level for me. And I absolutely need to be ashy so I have always been afraid of root touch ups and getting hot roots. So just want to clarify, this product both lifts and deposits the ashy color simultaneously?
thanks girl! always love the color of your hair... hair goals for sure! brass and warmth is my NEMISIS as a natural strawberry blonde, no matter what, within 3 weeks of a salon visit... im warm again! Cant wait to pick this up tn at sallys, hope they have it here in Nova Scotia Canada
I am naturally a level 7A and used this product before finding this video. Ugh I do see warm orange color, and I only used a 10 vol. I am going to try a level 6 root tap, with ardell red gold color corrector. I hope it takes out the orange.
First, you are stunning. Second, you are so generous to share your knowledge with us. This came at a perfect time, as I'm trying to transition colors. Thank you!!! Hugs from across the miles : )
I didn't lighten my hair after the root color. You can see ho high my highlights came up to on my part line as I was applying color. The areas below my part I have far less highlights, I think this is where the confusion is coming from.
haha the collar is actually loose. hte problem for me is a top that doesn't have buttons. This shaket did survive this color session however I do recommend wearing black or a proper color drape.
I used this brand on my level 6 hair. I used 8N (natural blond) with 20 Vol developer for 35 min like it said. Only 2 levels of lifting but my hair turned out so red, practically ginger...not sure what went wrong. I never had this issue with box colors used in the past (years ago, already grown out before this application)
Hi Silvia, love your videos! I am giving blonde a serious go for the first time. I saw your video talking about how you had arrived at your blonde ends (before you got the bob) but I didn't see any recommendations on how to get there if you're looking to replicate the final look directly. Maybe I missed it? If not how would you recommend blonding the ends of your hair to melt all the way into a darker root?
I love all the videos and info you share on how to take care your hair at home. Can you tell me please between this product and the e salon color home kit that you mention in other videos, do you like this better or both are equally good in term of not damaging your hair or you like this one better ? Thanks for the help❤
ELLE, What if my sylist uses a level 5/6 smudge root covering really gray hair roots (white) she’s doing baby lights to transition me towards going blond. I’m naturally a level 5 but used to do a level 3 at the roots. And she is wanting to wait until the box die is out. My hair is medium length. She does get my highlights to a 8/9 but then covers them darker with a toner. I’m frustrated because it seems I’m going darker again verse going towards light . Wondering can I color my hair all one lighter color and then add highlights?
I so appreciate you sharing your knowledge with us. I do have a follow-up question though.. My hair is colored with the balayage technique, I am trying to prolong this process before going back to a stylist. My hair is also very porous. I'm worried that if I try this application I will end up darkening the blond portions of my hair. Do you have any suggestions that will help prevent this from happening???
I need to color my whole head and keep ash tones in my roots. Will this work without turning my hair green? I have 80-90% gray. Thank you for answering my question!😊
Best thing you can do is drop down the level and bump up the developer strength works perfectly for me. I actually used better nature's recently! I loveee it
Really so you are suggesting dropping the colour to a six a and then bumping up the developer to 30 volume, you are obviously not a hairdresser because that makes no sense
I have black hair naturally with grays in my roots. I get “hot roots” that are really orangey red. The lady at Sally told me to use volume 10. What is your advice for this. Just have grays at roots and want to have level 4 dark brown, not black hair color.
I have been doing my own hair for ages I have the stubborn grey roots so obviously I will be trying this on them. I usually go in the next day and do my highlights, I have been using schwartzkopf bond enforcer and usually use 30 dev. Past couple of times the bleach and developer almost seem like they are not lifting to my usual color. I actually bought new product as I had no idea that bleach expired. However, this is exactly the same... I don't understand it????? It's been all good for the past 3 years - now it seems like it isn't lifting and I don't want to leave the bleach too long in case it frys my hair!! What should I do???? HELP!!! Can you do a video on it or offr any suggestions?? I see no expiration date on my purchases.
The very first time I did my hair I used E Salon for my roots which I liked as it was a lovely shade but it ran through all my hair - which tbh I think is better as my blonde came out good lol when I hilited it the next day - but since then I had put conditioner on my blonde so it would not penetrate. After using E Salon a couple more times after that - I didn't like the color they sent to me it was never as good as the first time.....I didn't like it..... anyway my point is how do you prevent the color from going on your blonde???? you never mention that?? I just use "Just for Men Beard color" now lol lol and it had been great..... but my blonde is just not lifting at all., even after leaving it on for 50-55 minutes - I don't want to leave it any longer.
I'm new at this ! Im 43 and have gotten a few short pieces of gray hair. I do have a birth mark on the back of my head that has no pigment in the hair there. Hair dye has always washed off of this birthmark grey hair, when friends dyed my hair as a teen and early 20s. I do have some red tones in my natural dark ash blonde hair. Even though I don't think my hair is blonde thats what people have told me that my hair color is. 🤷♀️ Blonde dye used to turn orangey reddish. I'm not gonna lie , I am worried im going to mess my hair up. 😢
I could see some red in her results as well. Anything that only lets you stay within 1-2 levels of your natural color will almost always yield some red tones, especially if you veer to far from your natural shade.
use 10 volume not 20. 20 volume will lift the hair color into the warm tone then it deposits the color on top of that. The problem is that the hair is lifted into the red orange tones so it shows through the deposited color. Either stick with the same level of hair color you have with 10volume or expect some warmth if going lighter. The exception would be those who are already a level 8 blonde.
@@runae7368 I used this with 10 vol and also added the anti red drops and my hair still ended up with red tones and it just gets more and more orange. I let my hair grow out for so long, and this even turned my untreated roots reddish. The blue/purple shampoos tend to dry out one's hair really bad
Could you consider doing videos on achieving copper hair and various formulations. I know a lot of people want this ash tone but not all. I personally love warmth and exploring this. 🙏🏻💜🕊️
I have 5% grey all over but it’s white at the temples. I hate it!!! Stylists always try to blend it with highlights but I can still see it and it bugs me. I want it to be dark blond with highlights and a root melt like the rest of my hair 😢
Hello, if I need deposit only (no lift), would i still use this 7A permanant hair color with just a lower volume? Like 10 vol. or lower? I am naturally a level 7 with just a few grays I would like to blend only, not cover. Thanks for the inspiring video!
I was really excited because this is exactly what i need but knowing its a paid sponsorship makes me apprehensive. But I have major trust issues im working on 😂
The reason I took this sponsorship is because this is a product I have been waiting for, for years!! A formula that is salon quality and has an ash finish for gray coverage is so hard to find. Also I would not put anything on my hair that’s isn’t 👌🏽
The color you put on is not what is shown at the end. No line of demarcation with a permanent color and has highlights. Please be genuine. That is NOT the result anyone would get but using the one product you selling. Very disappointing.
@@sandybrown5396 I genuinely used only better natured color on my roots. You can see my highlights came up high when I am applying color at the roots on my part at 4:30 You can see when I show you my "before" its is slightly off my center part- this is where I have most of my grays. You only get a color of demarcation when you use an incorrect shade. The whole point of root color is to blend with your base color. On my family, this is the only color I applied on my hair for these results. Please stop spreading false accusation on my channel.
So I actually lifted perfectly on most of my nat level 6 more than 50% gray head. Except the FRONT money piece on one side lifted to a level 10 very little pigment in it. I did my roots w 6 n permanent washed it out in my highly filtered best u can get well water ( usually you can’t see any “well water issues on our hair) for out and my extremely level ten pieces were GREEN!! Is this from the well water or combo of that and my root tap permanent color touching it as washing out!?? How to fix? I do have a shdes eq 6 and 4 en here I may try that?
Hey, would you maybe consider making a video in the future covering the topic of "toning natural grays/ white hair"? I know so little about toning! Just that the colour covers the hair rather than penetrating into it. So, how might we use this knowledge to our advantage when perhaps when we're growing out our natural gray hair & maybe don't want to go blonde in anyway at all ever? Question: I have a really interesting natural gray/white hair growth pattern to my head. Basically, right at my temples I have equal triangles coming in bright white, sorta like "devil horns". This wouldn't have been my 1st choice but, it is what it is, I guess? 😂 So, I've heard of some girls having what they call a "fascinator piece" somewhere in the front _or_ off to one side of their head. How does one go about avoiding getting dark hair dye on _those_ particular hair pieces? (I'm only keeping ONE of my sides, natural bright white.) I've attempted to do this before but, I ruined it when I touched up my roots. Should/ could I saturate that whole piece with hair conditioner or some other product? What might you recommend besides just being really careful? (I'm clumsy so, the "just be careful" method alone, no worky for me. Come to think of it, *that* is the exact same method that got us our 2nd baby all those many years ago! 😂) Thank you so very much for all of your years of sharing your knowledge with us here. Your baby girl must be getting big now. Time flies when you're having so much fun. My baby girl is happily married now, squeezy hugs are an everyday thing for us anymore & I really do miss it.😘💕💕💕
Somewhat, yes. However a color that is labeled as demi has been formulated for that result. Simply mixing it with a 10 VOL may alter the pigmentation results that the formula was meant to give.
hi silvia I love your videos, I am color my own hair I am level 9ash but I retouched my roots and they are a little bit orange how can I bring them up to level 9 and also I feel the rest of my hair is almost a level 10 so how can I go down 1 level like a toner or something like that
I cant get this in the uk, is there another brand you know same that her in uk? Im a base 6to7 but have blonde highlights. So try to do roots in a 7 ash to not be to dark but it just red toned what ever ash i use...
Definitely going to sallys this week to try this out. But im a natual level 4. I have dyed my, or tried to, grays in the front, so I'm not sure if that would affect the end reslu with this. Also, if I use the level 7, would it give me the level 6 that I'm trying to attain? My ends are dyed to a level 7 and just want to soften the transition and dont know if going higher will help get the look im going for or going 3 levels lighter to reach 2 levels is a stretch.

I have 5% grey all over but it’s white at the temples. I hate it!!! Stylists always try to blend it with highlights but I can still see it and it bugs me. I want it to be dark blond with highlights and a root melt like the rest of my hair 😢
did you wrap the ends in foil before washing off the color? Wouldn't the hilights grab and be a drab ash? Confused
Hello, if I need deposit only (no lift), would i still use this 7A permanant hair color with just a lower volume? Like 10 vol. or lower? I am naturally a level 7 with just a few grays I would like to blend only, not cover. Thanks for the inspiring video!
I use ash and neutral. Is that ok?
@@sandybrown5396 wait really??? That is so disappointing if true.

I genuinely used only better natured color on my roots.
@@Ellebangs Hello. Your roots are still too dark to dye with level 7. This is simply impossible!
No shipping to Canada 😢
So I actually lifted perfectly on most of my nat level 6 more than 50% gray head. Except the FRONT money piece on one side lifted to a level 10 very little pigment in it. I did my roots w 6 n permanent washed it out in my highly filtered best u can get well water ( usually you can’t see any “well water issues on our hair) for out and my extremely level ten pieces were GREEN!! Is this from the well water or combo of that and my root tap permanent color touching it as washing out!?? How to fix? I do have a shdes eq 6 and 4 en here I may try that?
@ellebangs if you are a 5 medium brunette would you use a 5 ash brown to cover gray roots to keep it from having red undertones?
You can use a color with in two levels of your natural level. So if you’re a level 5, you can use a level 4 or up to a level 6.
Makes no sense, I’ve tried this and get very warm tones because of going up levels.
Your hair is still quite dark at the roots, would this brand be able to give you a level eight or nine without the unwanted brass or gold tones?
How did you keep the highlights????
Oh my gosh you cut your hair short! It’s beautiful, but you look good in anything. Thanks for the video.
Thank you so very much for all of your years of sharing your knowledge with us here. Your baby girl must be getting big now. Time flies when you're having so much fun. My baby girl is happily married now, squeezy hugs are an everyday thing for us anymore & I really do miss it.😘💕💕💕
as good as Redken or Matrix Silvia?
if one uses 10 volume is would that be more a demi perm option?
Somewhat, yes. However a color that is labeled as demi has been formulated for that result. Simply mixing it with a 10 VOL may alter the pigmentation results that the formula was meant to give.
Does it has ammonia?
hi silvia I love your videos, I am color my own hair I am level 9ash but I retouched my roots and they are a little bit orange how can I bring them up to level 9 and also I feel the rest of my hair is almost a level 10 so how can I go down 1 level like a toner or something like that
I cant get this in the uk, is there another brand you know same that her in uk?
Im a base 6to7 but have blonde highlights. So try to do roots in a 7 ash to not be to dark but it just red toned what ever ash i use...
IM IN DESPERATE NEED OF YOUR ADVICE. I MESSED UP MY HAIR please help me
This is not available in the uk 😢
I’m gutted 😞
Definitely going to sallys this week to try this out. But im a natual level 4. I have dyed my, or tried to, grays in the front, so I'm not sure if that would affect the end reslu with this. Also, if I use the level 7, would it give me the level 6 that I'm trying to attain? My ends are dyed to a level 7 and just want to soften the transition and dont know if going higher will help get the look im going for or going 3 levels lighter to reach 2 levels is a stretch.
Just in time needing to do my roots ! So, using an ash tone color is the answer to no red tones?? I struggle with that!
I thought that you need some warmth to cover greys..or maybe just with a demi-permanent ??
Yes an ash based color will minimize warm reddish tones!
@@Ellebangs but won't it turn your hair green????
Im going to try better natural hair color next time i ues light golden brown 😊
What was the ratio you used for this one?
You are so beautiful 😍. I have been watching your videos for years and you admire you so much
What level developer did you use?
The bottle said 20
20 VOL developer
It would've been nice to get a closeup in the front where you had the grays.
Awesome 👏 I just ordered some
How did u avoid coloring your highlights?
