I remember this TV show also. I remember among the clues they gave us: "BUSH and KATE BUSH" -- England "CRIMSON and DIANA" -- King (as in King Crimson and Diana King) "JEFF LYNNE, BEV BEVAN" -- Electric Light Orchestra
I was on this show once. I was part of the the class of 1990 team, and they paired us up with the class of 1968 (give or take, I forget the exact year). They had a written test to screen possible contestants that I aced. The actual game show questions were much easier and I knew all the answers, but could never buzz in first. The one exception was a question about Debbie Gibson (who I was not a fan of). I swear it was rigged! I never watched the episode when it aired. I was so embarrassed by it that I didn’t tell many people about it. We lost pretty badly. My dad later said it was an unfair game because the older generations had lived through our music but not necessarily the other way around. I wish I could find the episode somewhere today. 30+ years later it would be a hoot to see.
Let's give Craig Shoemaker credit for being a pretty good game show host- I can definitely see him hosting more game shows in the future. After the recent passing of Alex Trebek and aside from Steve Harvey, TV game shows can use more hosts with mustaches!!!
This is almost a quarter century ago, I don't think he'll be back hosting game shows. Craig told a story on Bergeron HS about his mother being a single mother and wanting to hook his mother up with Paul Lynde, not knowing why Paul was single.
This was absolutely embarrassing to watch. Everyone has been instructed to behave in such an embarrassingly, cringey, over-the-top manner that makes it extremely difficult to watch and enjoy.
This show was ahead of its time.
I miss this show and this version of VH1
