    Good video review. I have the Topwater PDL and I love it. To watch you trying to tip it over and the trouble you had only reinforced my confidence in my boat. Last week, I was fishing the St.Lawrence River in Montreal, Canada, where I’m from and encountered a decent sized Yacht that crossed in front of me. The wake was big enough that, in my mind, “That’s it, I’m screwed, get ready you’re going under, this sucker is tipping over” Lucky all of my equipment was tethered. Well, glad to say my kayak handled it like a charm. Anyone interested in this model, I say go for it, you won’t regret it. Nice job, keep em’ coming!

    I just got mine, even though they shipped me the wrong color, im still happy with the kayak. Stability is great on this thing. 2 trips and the pedal drive is getting smoother. The gear tracks it came with has enough room for my hummingbird 7" helix mega si g3, transducer arm mount, rod holders and still room for more. Did i mention stability?

      This question is impossible to answer in a meaningful way, because there are too many variables. It’s a pretty safe bet that sooner or later, we’ll all roll out, so plan on it. That means wear a PFD and dress for exposure .

    • @MooMooOutdoors
      @MooMooOutdoors  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's not if you fall off, it's when 😂😂. Like SuperBardley said too much variables. If you like to play in rough water you'll fall off more than a person who only calmer water. Falling off is not that big of an issue if you are prepared for the drink 😉.

      Not all prop and fins are made equal or can't say which is faster since I haven't tested every prop and fins. However, from what I hear, Hobie Mirage drive is still the most efficient. Boat speed really depends on the hull design of the kayak but Mirage drive takes less effort to travel same speed than prop drives is what I hear.

    When you were doing all those circles, I was thinking that people on shore were probably wondering if you had been drinking haha. The stability is really nice, the effort needed to get it up to speed maybe not so much. Do you find that the kayaks with higher seats more comfortable or about the same as the sit-in kayaks?

    • @MooMooOutdoors
      @MooMooOutdoors  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Higher seats are definitely more comfortable than lower seat but then you are more top heavy. With the sit in side, you are sitting at the water level or below water level so the kayak can be narrow (faster) but stable. With the higher seat, you need more width to compensate the top heaviness. Since I like my kayaks fast in general, my kayaks have lower seat height.

    • @ChipsOutdoorChannel
      @ChipsOutdoorChannel 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Given that trolling for kokanee is about 1.2 to 1.5 mph and trout somewhat faster, trolling for a long time should not be a problem. I have a Pro Angler 14 and both yours and mine are pigs; but pigs have their purpose. Want speed and distance instead to trolling, look for something slimmer. I know this is a 3 year old video, but just found it. I'm trying to decide now on prop vs fin drive. I haven't gotten out to try any yet, and my gut feeling is that I will like the back and forth motion of the fin drive rather than the bicycle pedal prop drive. Do you have a thought on that? • @MooMooOutdoors

      Biggest difference is weedless vs instant reverse. Efficiency wise, (quality) prop drives and fin drives are pretty much equal. It's the hull shape that make a kayak slower/faster. Some people like bicycle motion and others like fin drive motion. I think it personal preference.

    • @MooMooOutdoors
      @MooMooOutdoors  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's hard to say because there are so many different factors (height, weight, type of water...) and personal preference. What I can say is there are both great kayak. The biggest differences is prop drive (instant reverse) vs mirage drive (weedless) and stability vs efficiency. What would I choose between these two? Neither. I personally like more efficient kayaks. When I had the OT Topwater 120 PDL, I had to force myself to take it out for fishing. I like fishing out of Revo 13 much more.

    I'm actually considering this model it's so far the best in price and stability I'm 210lbs 6 feet , but wanted to know will this model be good in brackish waters Chesapeake bay area? with wake from boats and other elements or would I need to get the salty model kayak? I don't need speed but definitely need stability it's gonna be my first kayak ever! and 2nd time I'll be on one if I get it. 1st time I flipped lol hence the stability factor😅

    Do you notice any water seeping in around the paddle drive hat at high speed or rough waters? Does it stay dry?

    • @MooMooOutdoors
      @MooMooOutdoors  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I heard other people say water comes in through around the drive but I didn't noticed it. However, in most of the launches I do, I'm already wet and I most play in rough water where the water comes in over the deck so it's not an issue for me. I personally think that part of kayaking is getting wet 😉.

    why would you paddle when you have a peddle system???

    • @MooMooOutdoors
      @MooMooOutdoors  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Biggest reason is the pedal drive can fail. When you are miles from the launch and when you have to paddle a long distance especially against the wind. My second biggest reason is for surf launch and surf landing. You need to get up to speed quick in the surf especially when you are landing. You really need get up to the speed to chase the wave. There are many more situations when you need to paddle instead of pedal.
