A year or two ago I posted on this video that this song saved my life. Well, I'm still here and doing better than ever and I have tickets to see Sufjan on April 21st (a week from today!) I know it probably won't happen, but I really hope I get to meet him, so I can tell him how much his music means to me. Sufjan Stevens is the real deal.
This is reaching crisis proportions. I am learning that there is a whole lot of Sufjan that has not been published for me to collect and treasure. Why not??? Please Sufjan, this is so beautiful.
It’s a very common thing for musicians, especially those with a vast discography, to toy around with recordings for years and years, until the time comes when they feel like the song is ready to be released to the world in proper form. Perhaps one of the best examples of this is Radiohead - so many songs you know and love today were teased and played at shows many years before being officially released. So, that all being said, bask in this recording that we have and just be patient. We might get it some day... but at the end of the day, all I can think of is how grateful I am for this exact recording itself.
I just began listening to Sufjan, so this is the first time listening to this song without a doubt. But damn... i feel like i've heard it in a dream or something... It's unnervingly familiar to me. Hauntingly beautiful piece of music.
+Jim Lahey You are in for such a treat. Sufjan gets better over time because the nostalgia of his music builds up on itself and he will haunt you forever.
You are so lucky! My sister introduced me in 2009 but I was too into Daft Punk and the Killers to care. Luckily over time with the help of Seven Swans I built up layers of nostalgia for his music. It's so hard to introduce people to his music though.
