I rewatch the soul reaver intro sometimes, and the animation of the lipsync still amazes me to this day. In the year 1999, they did a better job than some movies today

Yet it was the only way of explaining why him and the sword shared the same name, couldn't be destroyed by another, and had a symbiotic relationship with it's astral projection. You don't really think about that in the process of playing the game, you just write it off like "pfft, protagonist plot armor" but when all these plot points are gathered by plot itself you start to see the big picture. Superb writing.

When we do get a Remaster Hopefully it won't end up being a Watered down, Censored Embarassment of it's Original Self, rather prefer it be a True Tribute to the original Franchise.

A new Soul Reaver game would be a reboot.There is no way they would continue the story which kinda ended for a new generation of gamers who have never even heard of the original games.They might retell the original story in a different way but I really forsee something new.Hopefully Bell will still be alive to voice Raziel and Templeman for Kain if the choose to use him in the story.I still hope every year for a new game to be announced.Maybe 2018 will finally be it.
Considering the ATTEMPT at a LoK game (Dark Sun) that got cancelled, the footage that was there before production was stopped? I am FUCKING GLAD we didn't get another game in the series. I wouldn't be opposed to a Remake, maybe fix the gameplay (which had always been the WEAKEST part of the games...maybe a combination of Blood Omen and Defiance combat? Mixed with genuine puzzles) keep the voice clips (if its possible) or get damn good soundalikes (do NOT half ass that please)

Why does Raziel have boots on? Why does Kain?! The are supposed to have clawed feet. One would think that would be even easier to draw as well. I'm just so hung up on that visual quark...
Making a remake with new voiceover would be problematic since some of the cast members already passed away.. Michael Bell (Raziel) is 82y old so I don't think he would be making a new voice over.. Simon Templeman (Kain) 67y old - probably still would be able to voice aged Kain? Tony Jay (The Elder God or the giant squid god) - passed away and that is a shame..can't imagine a different voice for the elder god.. Rene Auberjonois (Janos) - passed away So many good voices that would be really missed. I don't think we will ever get a new entry into the LoK series. It has a little loyal cult following, but nothing big worth waking this game series from the dead. If they somehow manage to do a ''remaster'' of blood omen 1 for example, that would be nice.

The comments are amazingly witty. I grew up and watched my mother play the first Kain game. A different and dark dynamic that I was used to seeing but feel in love with the vampire genre. When Soul Reaver came out she got so frustrated and wanted help and I took over. It became a silent understanding which game we both loved. When Defiance came out, we both knew who would be playing who. One of my favorite gaming memories with my mom.

They never did defeat Cthulhu though, they left that open for future games. They dealt him a severe blow. They did not vanquish him entirely.

Making a remake with new voiceover would be problematic since some of the cast members already passed away..
Michael Bell (Raziel) is 82y old so I don't think he would be making a new voice over..
Simon Templeman (Kain) 67y old - probably still would be able to voice aged Kain?
Tony Jay (The Elder God or the giant squid god) - passed away and that is a shame..can't imagine a different voice for the elder god..
Rene Auberjonois (Janos) - passed away
So many good voices that would be really missed. I don't think we will ever get a new entry into the LoK series. It has a little loyal cult following, but nothing big worth waking this game series from the dead.
If they somehow manage to do a ''remaster'' of blood omen 1 for example, that would be nice.

The comments are amazingly witty. I grew up and watched my mother play the first Kain game. A different and dark dynamic that I was used to seeing but feel in love with the vampire genre. When Soul Reaver came out she got so frustrated and wanted help and I took over. It became a silent understanding which game we both loved. When Defiance came out, we both knew who would be playing who. One of my favorite gaming memories with my mom.
