his turnovers overall aren’t egregious, i think its more so growing pains of having an offensive coordinator who has never called plays in the nfl. i don’t see a regression in his skillset or ability to perform at a high level. also the eagles had a much easier schedule last year. great vid

This 7 game stretch starting with the Dolphins is the true test for the Eagles. Dolphins, back to back division games with @Washington then Cowboys, BYE, @Chiefs, Bills, 49ers, @Cowboys. If the Eagles can come out of that 7 game stretch 5-2 ill be happy!

    • @kabloosh699

@@OutlawedOutlier yep. Washington is never an easy game for us. They could be the worst team in the league and still give us a hard time. Cowboys we generally trade with. First game with them is in Philly which is the one we usually win IF we beat them. Dallas has been an absolute shitshow for us the past few years.
That said, that is usually because of Zeke who is no longer with Dallas. When we stop their run game and force them to rely entirely on passing we tend to fair much better against them. With how we shut down the run I think we may have the advantage heading into that game. Dallas is good at forcing turnovers so if we can minimize those against them we will more than likely win.

I don't believe he truly ever had an elite skillet. The Jalen Hurts that you're seeing now and the Jalen Hurts you saw his first two years in the NFL are what you get with him.
Last season he largely benefited from their system and he is in a perfect position with the best protection in the NFL as well as two high caliber playmakers at WR and a good tight end with a top 5 defense.
He's never had a big time arm, he's been inconsistent throwing downfield, he's not super accurate, he's not great at going through his progressions and making the right reads. He is an above average passer in an incredibly good system and he's an amazing leader.

    • @kingkobra_1945

if 2021 Hurts is what we get with him, the eagles would have not made it to the superbowl. was rated the best superbowl performance of a QB ever and thats even with the turnover. there is a big adjustment coming from college to the NFL. you can be a superior athlete and win off that alone. Anticipation and Accuracy were the two things he struggled with that first year. going from the Big 12 where they don’t play defense to NFL secondaries is huge. the offseason before the 2022 season, Jalen went to Tom House, the pitching and football mechanics guru who has worked with Tom Brady/Drew Brees for years. Last year you seen the work pay off. His arm is average to above average but as Shannon Sharpe would say, arm strength does not matter in a QB, anticipation/accuracy are paramount. you can look at the metrics yourself and see he's near the top in tight window throws along with deep ball accuracy. calling him a system QB would not be fair considering players like Lamar and Cam Newton have won MVPs by having a system built around them. they shouldn’t get penalized for having weapons and being able to run the football. you don’t win games if you can’t throw from the pocket. simple as that@@JaredHettler

Completely disagree. The entire offense is built around Jalen. They have his dads best friend as oc, his dads friend from high school as head coach, his sons godfather at x, his college receiver at Z, and hell the wr he threw to in the draft at the slot. He’s trying to extend plays to often. It’s the same issue he had as a rookie

  • @undericesinger

I'm glad he didn't throw the in route on the AJ scramble play. AJ and Smith both have a habit of coming too far back to the ball and being short. Had this been 3rd down, that's fine.

    • @unrhu
      @unrhu 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

Exactly, plus the defender was right up top of AJ. Hurts wanted to throw the ball that's why he was about to throw it then stops when he noticed how close defenders were. Hurts made the right move QB School is wrong on that one.

Hurts played the second half with a knee brace. The postgame comments imply that he has been nursing his knee for a few weeks.
Also, there might be a minor mitigation for the DeVonta Smith drops last week - he had a finger in a splint before this game...

It's a new OC. Last year was his second year with Steichen as OC (who was a better OC, too). It takes time to get everyone in rhythm and be able to trust the receivers to be exactly where they're supposed to be. I think it will come. I'm not ready to say Hurts has regressed from last year. It's not only a new OC in Philly but a first time OC. And after Hurts's and the Eagles' break out year last year, teams are preparing for them defensively much better this year (not too mention the tougher schedule). Yes, Hurts is holding the ball a little too long at times, but I think that's a symptom of some other things and am not ready to say it's just Hurts is less good than he was. Yeah,.Watch on 4th and 3 at 10:18 where Jaylen Phillips gets HELD by Lane Johnson for 3 SECONDS and Hurts scrambles to that side and throws for a Td.
That puts Philly up 17-3,..But they called a .2 sec GRAB by Miam O-linemani on a Tua TD to Hill in the first half,.
That's not discounting 5 other blatant penalties by Philly that weren't called,.
The FIX WAS IN,.Hurts played like garbage,.I could have thrown a TD on that play~

Hurts' only flaw is also a pretty big one. He holds on to the ball way too long sometimes and that highlights his pocket awareness/manipulation, which imo isn't that great.
