I do the same thing......drive around suburbs I want to live in or view beautiful houses, i think it keep you motivated to have goals. The area you visited was stunning and those houses are massive. Thanks again. I am curious as to where you would move to live next..........

      A lot of people say not to stay in Anchorage bc the crime is rising, but to find a house in Eagle River. Are there any good neighborhoods that you can suggest that don’t see much petty crime?

    • @LifeAfter50withTerree
      @LifeAfter50withTerree  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think ER is pretty safe. Crime is much higher everywhere than it was back in the day.....

    • @gaileenkern3240
      @gaileenkern3240 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Productive Mama I live in Eagle River. There is rarely any serious crime but there have been murders in pretty much every town in Alaska, including here. There isn’t as much of a drug problem here in Eagle River or it is hidden very well. I have seen some needles in wooded areas but it’s not bad. They avoid public places. In Anchorage they just use on the street and throw their needles in parking lots, roads etc.

    Born here, left for a bit, returned in 2008, been here ever since. I see black people virtually every single day. No, certainly not in great big numbers, but the population for everyone in the state is small anyway. I'm mostly around in Airport Heights, Spenard, Muldoon so I'm not sure why she's saying 5:48 you can go a week or two without seeing black people. I'm not trying to contradict everything in this video, but I'm baffled at some of her comments. 2:28 we don't see sunny days in Anchorage in the summer? What?? That scene is typical for Anchorage this time of year! Our summers tend to be very bright because the sun rises earlier and sets later; we get over 19 hours of sunlight.

    • @LifeAfter50withTerree
      @LifeAfter50withTerree  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Jeanette, I would say May - July is the best time frame. Temps reach upper 80s and higher during those months.

    • @sophiesmom6683
      @sophiesmom6683 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jeanette Johnson :
      Late May is the best time for a visit. I lived in Anchorage for almost 20 years and found this time of year had the least amount of rain and lots of sunny weather. It was also before the tourists arrived, which means less traffic and lower prices.
      However, some tourist sights or camping areas don’t open until June.
      I loved it there; hope you have a great time.

      Hello Izza! I'm so sorry I missed your comment. The Hispanic population is somewhere around 3% last I checked. It may be higher now.... Shipping costs can be a little ridiculous depending on where you are ordering from. Some retailers don't ship to Alaska at all. Hope this helps :)

    You're funny, you make Black people sound like you're aliens, when you say things like "I spotted another one that's 4 I spotted today", i'm a gay white man, wonder how many of those live in Alaska? LOL! But thanks for the tour, I've always wanted to see Anchorage, and then after seeing your video I'm going to call my travel agent to book a trip for next summer, looks like a really nice place to visit, and really quiet, there's hardly anybody there! (Did I mention I live in Toronto? We almost at the 7 million people mark, so most places seem quiet to me). There's a guy who's never been to Alaska before, specifically Anchorage, what would you recommend that I should definitely see while I'm there? A few friends that might've been there and they absolutely loved it, in fact one of them moved there he loved it so much, so I'll be visiting him while I'm up there. But he's only been living there for a few months, so he really doesn't know the city very well so any tips, advice, or help would be greatly appreciated, thanks and have a great day!

    • @LifeAfter50withTerree
      @LifeAfter50withTerree  7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hi TJ! I know I sound a little crazy for saying that but there are so few of us up here it's not even funny (well kinda). But as far as what you want to see while you're up here... I would definitely recommend the 26 Glacier cruise, Whitewater rafting either the 6 mile or Matanuska river, hike Flattop and check out the ice bar in Fairbanks. Hope this helps and stay tuned for more vlogs!!

      @galvatron77 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      lol...that's how I felt when I got to Bismarck, North Dakota....Like an alien almost. But there's More of us up here now, and there's a higher percentage of us in Fargo. But it's all good, it's nice to visit different spots. Keep up the good work sis!

    I'm a black man from Georgia who likes to travel to cold weather places in the winter. The past four years I've been to Canada, Montana, Alaska, and Chicago all when it was cold. I saw black people in all of those places. I saw them in Anchorage and Fairbanks, Alaska. Anyone who says blacks don't do cold is either a liar or just ignorant. In fact, I wouldn't mind living in most of those places I mentioned.

    There are a lot of misconceptions about Alaska or even Anchorage for that matter I lived in Anchorage for over 40 years I moved away in 2003 it's nice to see videos of Anchorage currently I do get homesick every once in awhile even though I don't really miss the winters too much anymore.I explain to people here in the lower 48 Alaska does have nice summer days it's not cold all year round as a lot of people think.I still have family members and Anchorage I hope to make it up one day.People I talked to didn't realize they have stores like Walmart Sam's Club Costco other stores in general and Anchorage some people are actually shocked when I told him this that's where I say about the misconception about Alaska in general comes in.

      I totally agree with you. Even to this day people are shocked to hear we are just as current as the lower 48s. Alaska is one of those rare jewels within the United States that I personally believe everyone should visit. I enjoyed reading your comment and looking to upload more videos soon!
