  • The men's eight crew makes up the big guns of the Canadian Olympic rowing roster in a sport steeped in Canadian Olympic pride and history. Aptly named "The Heavyweights", this #GiveYourEverything film offers a gritty portrait and inside glimpse of these athletes' relentless training regimen, their bond as a team and the emotion behind preparing for Olympic success. After winning gold in 2008 in Beijing, coxswain Brian Price returns for another podium push with Andrew Byrnes and Malcolm Howard as they look to defend. This time around, they will be joined by Gabe Bergen, Jeremiah Brown, Will Crothers, Douglas Csima, Robert Gibson, and Conlin McCabe. Watch how they show what it means to Give Your Everything.

"there's a lot of artistry in rowing" as five seat's blade gets hit by water thrown up from the finish of three seat..... Someone in the editing room has a sense of humor

Hi. I know nothing about the sport but happened to be in Slovenia at Lake Bled this September. I happened to overhear Canada being mentioned by an Aussie team. My last video has a lot of rowing at the start (plus old duffers like me singing on Lake Bled and Harley-Davidson bikers at the end!) all set to musics if you want to look (thumbnail is a biker).

Weird how some are using green gripped concepts and some are using wood grip ones

So if I have then I assume my comment is legitimate and if I haven't I should stay away from commenting on the technique of rowers? Have you ever broken 5:40?

I think it's bad, but just to get those extra meters which add up, so they don't have to take say 10 more strokes.

Nahhh.. The grips depend on your preference.. Like on a cooker oar I prefer the softer blue grip. On an empacher blade I like to use red flat grips without ridges.. And on a sweep oar croker I like wood more than their foam blue grip
