Much respect. You are a hunter’s hunter. After those hardships, many hunters would have compromised their ethics and shot one of those bigger stags. You let them grow as they should. Great how it turned out with the hinds. Animals seem to have a sixth sense. You aren’t focusing on them, so they weren’t worried about you.
An older deer culler took me under his wing when I was 15 and changed my life I am now 72 and have had a life of hunting in our South Island wilderness meeting some hard men and seeing some wonderful country. Go hard young man.

Lowa tibets only boot to go with Jody, takes a couple of outings to get them moulded to your foot but you wont look back. They are a bit more expensive but worth it.
Might be underestimating stag age by a year or 3. Some stop improving early also, like about 5-6, others get better for a few years more. If you were after meat & wanting to leave one for later or others, having a weaner there makes it a no brainer. There's plenty there

keep your boots on. put a plastic bag over them and wear them in your sleeping bag. not my idea I read they do that in places like Alaska
