Wow you definitely know your stuff gal a Beauty with all the Knowledge of Plumbing(Minor Plumbing) & many other Items as such I'll Support your channel
Not sure what made you decide to get into plumbing. But your videos are a great reminder that a trades professional is defined by their skills and not their chromosome pair (XY) male.
I've been following your bathroom renovation projects and appreciate the insights you share. I recently conducted a detailed exploration into the safety and installation practices concerning foam core backer boards, specifically focusing on the critical role of wood blocking for secure grab bar installations. Our findings highlight the potential risks and structural integrity issues that can arise from omitting wood blocking, even with the most reliable materials and techniques. Given the importance of safety and durability in renovations, I thought this information could be beneficial to your projects and audience. Incorporating wood blocking can significantly enhance the strength and safety of grab bar installations, a detail that's often overlooked. I'd be happy to share our findings and discuss further. Keep up the great work, and thank you for sharing your knowledge with the community!
Wow, you sure make that whole process look easy! I was just wondering what the warranty is on this system? I do love your teaching, you’re excellent and do things slow enough for those that learn better from visual teaching. 👍😁
Question: re: the screws and washers I know washers are needed but are washers supposed to be curving? Is there a close up picture on the depth of washer into Hydroblock board
You said that the mesh tape stops 3" before each corner, is there any reason why. Also, I thought I saw you went the length of the curb with the tape not stopping 3" before, was that correct?
She is good👍🏾 guys try to do video where you work together, example: small bathroom! Thanks for your time, I know how it difficult work and shoot and after create video. And what state are you in.?
Yes, but I purchased at Emser tile. I am a retired union plumber and decided to do my own tub surround/tile. I did not want to pay someone $7000 just to install a solid surround. They wanted me to waterproof it before and I thought they could eat sheet. I have worked as a steamfitter and have a tendency to be a perfectionist and not the typical “can’t see it from my house” bull. I will be doing my own after attending the University of You Tube following Tile Coach, DeBlasio Starr Tile etc. Currently staging.
No mesh tape needed on the vertical seams at the corner and also the horizontal seams between the two wall boards? I saw an old hydro book video which said to do this
According to an updated installation guide it is not required. See page 4 under "Finishing Wall Board Installation", the PDF is here www.hydroblok.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/HYDRO-BLOK_Low_Profile_Pan_Installation_V1_6.pdf
The mesh tape between the pan and the walls, you mentioned to cut it three inches short on both sides, how come it does not go all way to the walls? Also the drainvis not glued in?
I wish to Replace my Bath fitter but I dont like doing Plumbing or Ellectruc maybe replacing Fixtures but not the Nitty Gritty of it but I'd like to do Tiling & Backsplashing lol
My shower is 30" x 60", need to repair a lot of termite damage in the walls. I want to learn how to tile my own shower; anybody with money can pay someone else to do the work for them.👍
The only thing I don't like is that you have seams flying through the air I don't even like doing that in drywall I would put back their firebreaks or just trying to land them on vertical studs
It is more expensive to have a leaking shower… Or, if you have a good contractor who really knows what he is doing, they might make it work with cheaper materials, but then you spend even more on their extra labor. For my own shower, I chose the Schluter system, which might be the most expensive option, even more than this. But overall I save a lot by having a leakproof shower which I trust, and by having an easy, quick installation where I just have to follow their rules using their products. And whatever I do, it is just a small portion of the bathroom renovation budget anyway, but if I screw this up, it can cause the most damage.
@@juzoli all good points not sure why it has to be so expensive though. I’m a fan of the schluter system but I’m installing fiberglass now to cut costs :/
@@Whoreallyknows Sure they could be cheaper, they certainly have a nice profit on this product line. And a similar competitor will eventually push down their prices. But they are good, and worth even that money. An experienced pro, who understands the system, might be able to replace elements of it with cheaper alternatives. But that experienced pro might also have an hourly rate which makes the cost of the material seem irrelevant, and use whatever he is comfortable with:) In the end, I chose this system, because there was a LOT of headaches about my bathroom reno. And it was nice to get rid of one of those headaches. No regrets. But it also fits my style in general, as with the money I save by DIYing, I like to use it to buy premium materials.
Up here in Canada the TTMAC (terrazzo tile and marble association of Canada) call it keying in the mortar 😊 Love your work Do you like this shower system over the Schluter shower system?
Nice!! I will be using this product!

This is great, depending on the installation if the homeowner has any thought about grab bars we install blocking in anticipation of this

Warranty😅😅 they will find a way to not warranty it.. . Not installed right, not right sealant, not thick enough thinset etc..
Nice and informative.
Thank you Jeff
Amazing work and thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience!!
mike from barcelona

Awesome thank you for this video!! Can’t wait for more content
Nicely Done! Love the pop-up text guides. Great job 👍
Thank you!
the pop up text guides need to pop up about an inch higher to clear the red progress bar across the bottom

Very good. We have similar wet room systems here in the U.K. gone should be the days of gypsum (plaster board) and plywood substrate 😮. 😂🤩👍🏻✌🏻
What kind of sausage foil pack caulk and caulking gun do you use ? Project Looks great
Everything looks awesome. I wonder how durable those curbs will be after awhile?
Once they are finished with thinset and tile they will be very durable!
Great system, vid well done👍

But what about the drain cover? Is there installation video regarding that

Can a regular consumer purchase Hydro-Blok? At Daltile?

How strong is hydro-blok board?
I love the part where she used the “corner spatula” 😂
what thickness and type of plywood are you installing the Hydro-Bloc on and is it moisture resistant?
I'm a contractor up near Houston where do you purchase HYDRO-BLOK from?

Walls first
Has anyone tried using drywall in showers? Then just waterproofing over it?
Yes. Just put schlutter membrane and your good to go.
Seems really expensive.

I'm definitely sold on this system compared to others. Great video 📹
you're so gorgeous
