same.. but only when a band is honest, like gorguts or opeth.. but sometimes it just feels like they're trying to up-sell the new record, even if the band knows it's shit.
Ugh I can't wait for the new album...Gorguts has such a characteristic and unique sound, sophisticated music with much elegance and a chaotic side. It gives me the same feeling like when I listen to dark jazz.
+MANBRO PIG Bohren & der Club of Gore is pretty dark and cinematic. Great for reading. I'm not sure if this is the same kind of "dark" jazz that Sonia is referring to.
Its weird! I totally get how people wouldnt like this music. But I like it because it keeps surprising me at every turn plus Its groovy, textured and atmospheric. It has a symphonic quality to it that is very far from cliched. Its as close to the truly flowing surreality of genuine modernist symphonic music as metal gets.
Gorguts has been a huge influence to Deathspell Omega. 'The dissonance and the energy that can be found in a record such as King Crimson’s Red, in a piece like Magma’s De Futura or in Gorguts’ Obscura were consciously referred to on The Synarchy of Molten Bones [2016]. Having Luc Lemay [of Gorguts] play an instrumental rough mix of the excellent Pleiades’ Dust [EP release from the same year] for me in Montréal and briefly discussing music at a moment where I still was in the process of re-writing The Synarchy of Molten Bones probably had an impact. Anyway, that’s our internal chronology when it comes to dissonance.” - Hasjarl
perfect thanks for sharing! makes me want to drink a can of coffee and finish my one take style micro(-a)tonal metal album!! two of my all time favorite metal composers collaborate. I thought it is more organic sounding then usual Gorguts but therefor even better composed! I realize now I need to be more relaxed about rewriting and not to use all my riffs.
Different modi per album, different sounds and all kind of different things but in the end (if you're a true fan of Gorguts) you always hear the specific touch of this band. I think the best, most original and influencing band there is in this genre.
not really familiar with this band (love what little i have heard) but Luc Lemy is as metal as it gets.....guy doesnt have amps so he just builds them himself? Metal
it is fascinating to me to listen to musicians explain the writing process

This band is so cool. I hope to see them live soon. One of the top bands on my bucket list. Anyone know if they will tour in the next year or 2?
I never get tired of listening to Luc Lemay explain his writing process, especially for Pleiades' Dust
New guts on the way.... STOKED!

Holy shit, my body is not ready for this..

MARSTON IS FTW
was.
What's his tuning? I read somewhere he's in G Standard I think? And what amps does he use?
I think he tunes his 7 string down to G standard.
his shirt, the cover Daniel Ekekroth from Insision's Encyclopedia of Swedish Death metal. so rad. i would recommend it to fans of Entombed or Dismember
awesome
Did the recording part ever come out?

Gorguts and Cryptopsy are Canada's best exports of the last 30 years.
