I mean i am a BIG BigFan of This old Stuff like Led Zeppelin Hendrix etc. there are so much cool Stuff , and Paul Gilbert is a REAL Badass Player
salamango81 you don't play guitar for 40 plus years and have no feel for the guitar or the music . Your wrong dude Gilbert can play anything listen to his latest album I can destroy
Paul Gilbert is a legend fam. He is a guitar hero from another time. If you ask some of the greatest guitar players of today about Paul Gilbert they will have some great compliments to give 😉
forget all the superlatives about Paul's guitar prowess...those are a given. his greatest assets, are what a super nice down to earth and funny cool dude he is.
You're talking shit. For as great of a guy as Paul may or may not be, it is his greatness on the guitar that most know him for. Like you said, it's a given. His attitude is irrelevant.
lets put it this way for steve vai i was deaf for maybe 1 day for paul 2 days... Jeez and that wasnt even his real band it was mr big... HES DAM GOOD LOL
There aren't many who can play live with this kind of accuracy, intensity, power, fun and all round awesome vibe. Paul is one who can, take a bow bud and keep playing those good notes
Of all the mainstream guitar virtuosos out there, whether it's Vai, Satch, Malmsteen, Petrucci, and so many others... Paul is my favorite. I think it comes down to his impeccable picking technique, his alternate picking looks so effortless, and the way he makes use of patterns in his lead playing. Some people think his playing seems a bit robotic due to the way he works with patterns but to me, this guy has the perfect combination of technical ability and feeling, plus he just has an incredible ear for groove and melody, better than most. Always knows how to accentuate certain phrases, has fantastic vibrato, he's the whole package. Not a huge fan of his fireman guitars but every time I see one, it's distinctly Paul.
That's it for me too. Paul has both the technical ability and the musical gift of crating "feelings". His melodic and harmonic lines move me more than those of other guitarists.
Well he probably makes the biggest variety of facial expressions I ever saw, but not the most embarrassingly orgasmic... some of these people make me view Buckethead as a really courteous guy.
Better comparison really is Keanu Reeves though, Plus just like Paul Gilbert Reeves is surprisingly really cool and actually really likeable , where as Jim Carey is just another typical Hollywood lecturing elitists always one sided politically biased weirdo douche tool, - hey doesn't mean cant still like some of his movies just saying that's what he is lol, so Gilbert is more like the Keanu Reeves of Music/Guitar.
Always overlooked this guy assuming him to be one of the Malmsteen-esque shred for shred's sake players, but the taste and brilliance of composition in this one song alone prove that he's one of the best musicians out there on pretty much every level. This track is now my muse, I WILL learn it, even if it takes me literally decades
Cameron Tyson i learned it. I had to. Started about 8 years ago. Then one day i got serious and learned it. It took about 8 years of learning his style/ picking techniques and practiceing other stuff. Once i got serious it only took a few months of off and on practice. But getting to that point took almost a decade as you said lol. And this video helped me learn it because he plays some of the solo parts different live than on the album. There's no way to pull some of that solo off live. No wonder he changed it a little for the live version. It's a tough one boy
@@andrewwinch474 the album can't be awesome because you heard someone saying something? That's probably the lamest criteria to evaluate an album... How about you listen to it and make your own judgement?
his brain and his hand eye coordination are phenomenal, bar bone. imagine how many beautiful melodic combinations he has probably thought of without even batting an eyelash.
he has so much access to the guitar, even if from a utilitarian standpoint, not to mention how he voices the lead parts. dynamic technique is the artistic content of a players theory to me n I notice the ways pg operates with that exellence. world class
Utterly one of the greatest musicians of our time!! He's got it all, in a universally magnificent and colosally brilliant way!! Gosh, i freakin adore this guy from the bottom of my heart!! Biggest influence in my life!
I just started listening to him again. Been awhile since I had. I just happened to stumble across this video and immediately downloaded all his albums. Right now I’m just trying to find the duct tape to put my jaw back on my face. Fuuuuuuuuuuuu
@@TOXICxNaTionZ more like BUCKETHEAD and him were innovators as they both have produced many studio albums with buckehead making over 100 studio albums, they both are amazing but neither is better than the other
So perfect. Exceptionnally clean. This is frightening for an electric guitar player. Paul has classic guitar legend clean precision...if that means anything :p.
not only he is super clean, but he usually nails the songs note by note, some other virtuosos like satriani or guthri tend to change the way they play the songs live, some times they cut some tricky parts or just play scales on the key instead of the track solo and such, but this guy, this guy plays live and it's like you're listening to the friggin cd lol it's insane
important thing is his right hand technique, sure hes got fast fingers but anyone that works hard enough can learn that, but the tricky part is the way he uses alternate picking. oh..... and he has a giant pinky that makes it almost impossible to play alot of his stuff >.>
Carl. J I noticed the part at 3:00 in is pretty different from the record, what he played is impressive but that part from the album would be insane to pull off live.
Paul Gilberts Love of Guitar and all the great Guitarist that have come before him is what makes him a Guitar Jedi Master...You would think that someone who can literally play whatever comes into his mind would have a Godzilla ego, but his love of the guitar as a progressive forward moving creative force in music has no time for it. To much yet to learn, experience, and savor in what really drives him. To reach Guitar Shangri-La... Thank You Paul for your contribution to helping us reach that destiny...
Paul is phenomenal. Fuzz Universe is a masterpiece and everytime I listen to it, I feel like crying and throwing up at the same time 😂 Is anyone experiencing the same? It moves me so much, I feel sick. Perhaps it's because Paul plays it soo effortlessly.
SImply AWESOME. I always laugh when some people say shredding guitarists like Paul Gilbert play with no passion or feeling. As was stated by cstaron8 earlier, you can see the passion and feeling Paul puts into his music and playing. Even someone with limited talent compared to PG (like myself) puts feeling into their instrument. We all have the passion to translate what we hear in our heads onto our instrument.
Paul,,,, Fucking legend hell of a dude ! always have always been and it doesn't look it is about to change respect, that is as more accurate of a word in my vocabulary I can figure
If I remember correctly that version of the Fireman is Injector/Area67/Injector all from Dimarzio, all hum canceling single coils I believe. He used to play tons of 24 fret guitars and a lot with whammy bars but I guess got bored of it or something.
what's so great is...you see all these shred guitarists wearing all glamourous clothes and stuff, and Paul Gilbert comes on stage wearing a fucking tshirt and still can manage to blow our minds.
The really impressive thing about this is that he played the song while listening to Yngwie Malmsteen's new record on his headphones.
how did you know

Let alone, WRITE a piece like this. PG is amazing

Not if you write it.... Its natural for him
1000%
1:47 The theme of Fuzz Universe is one of the best guitar melodies ever composed, tasty, classy, melodic.
Reminds me of God gave rock n roll to you from bill and Ted.
Reminds me of Marty Friedman a little, especially with the ending pentatonic-ish lick
Paul’s left hand consists of four middle fingers and a thumb
So does that mean that Paul can potentially give someone 4 birds? Haha I agree with you though. Amazing playing.
Yani Veron
Haha!
He can shoot 4 birds at you at one time, with those odds he's likely to hit you with one.
No, you're wrong! It's 4 middle fingers and a toe.
Ahahahahah

Sounds so close to the studio version. Just how good paul Gilbert is
That pinch harmonic at 1:20 is so insanely satisfying, I can’t even explain why
and look at Paul's face, he knows he totally nailed that harmonic in the 14th fret in A
I'd argue its 2:23
