      she's great, master is going over the top. a master would have a perfect raw image, not changing light/shadow so much in Photoshop. not a criticism, just saying.

    • @hankbankster9700
      @hankbankster9700 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bullshit, she and her hipster friends exclusively shoot in the golden hours and / or hides in the few shadows she can find if the sun is out. She scurry and avoid the open if it is sunny, create repetitive and boring "nice photos" with the ever present "BOWKA" (Bokeh), not taking advantage of any landscape features, only the immediate surroundings.
      She trash the photos completely in post-processing, with super-destructive, ratty processing, processing necessary to bring back the pop that is lost because she is not able to light the models.
      She over-instruct the models, to the point where they are no longer a contributing factor to the image.
      She also seems to know next to nothing about posing, often placing the models in unflattering positions, with weird/huge hands and short/fat legs and no necks.
      IMO she is a youtube-vlogging one-trick pony, with no broad understanding of the technical aspects of photography or repertoire to create something new or different.
      Overhyped and boring and a photographer that is limited by the fact that she is either to lazy or too stupid to bother to use flash or light-modifications, so she can actually photograph in any kind of light, in any situation and still achieve what she wants.
      When I saw her using her shirt to clean the front-element of a $2800 lens, I wanted to slap her with a wet trout.
      "Master".....yeah,.......noo...I know plenty of FEMALE photographers who knocks her socks off, they are out there working, not vlogging you youtube.

    I think using flash or not is a matter of taste. It's a different mood, you're creating, depending on the light you chose. There's no wrong or right, as long as the picture turns out good, or to customers satisfaction. There's a market for everything.

    I love Irene’s work overall, but just like she said at the beginning of the video, she’s lazy when moving artificial light it’s about. Meanwhile Jason has told many times that laziness it’s the biggest enemy for photo creativity. It’s good that natural light it’s something that fits on her work, but if you really want to expand your work, have not only more clients but also more satisfaction in developing several styles and techniques, you have to be open and learn. I respect Irene and I admire her work, her videos are great and her editing it’s on master level, however I can’t say that “natural light photographer” it’s a thing, natural light it’s as important as artificial, if you don’t know how to use both, for which situation and for which style or demands for clients, then you just have to learn it. I’d love to see her work and her techniques also in studio or nighttime.

    I think one of the major advantage of artificial light over natural light photography is the ability to distinguish your work from smartphone photography. Seriously if I have to choose between smartphones like Note8/iPhoneX + Godox A1 + Godox strobes/monolight vs. a9/D850/1DXii I would definitely choose the former.

    Irene is more of a Photoshop Master, taking something that needs alot of work typically....but the end result worth the effort. I mean, she creates amazing stuff. However, and this goes back 2+ years, I couldn't help but think- If she ever learned lighting- artificial, she would be even better! And Jason- well, what else is there to say? He's single handedly killed tripod sales the world over with his....dangle the camera w/ one arm approach and the EVF- why use it?, "technique". That alone is worth the price of admission. BOTH= amazing shooters.

    I feel like natural light is enough for most of the time, BUT you do have to have your own lights and know how to control them so that if something happens you'd have an extra plan. Also there's lots of creative ways to use strobes for example: Rain, Smoke, Snow. But there's no need to over do it. Especially for the beginners natural light is more than enough.
