Marinette was borderline sociopathic in this episode and that's what disgusted me the most. I don't even think she really learns her lesson from all of this, either. She lied about a boy, heck, a superhero liking her and put him entirely on the spot, then made it worse by faking her tears and lying more which resulted in making him look bad. Then her delusional father beats this poor kid into a pulp all because his bitchy brat of a daughter lied about her feelings getting hurt! She is so close to Chloe in terms of what she's willing to do to get what she wants, and the worst thing is while Chloe always gets called out for it, Marinette is enabled by her friends and family and often gets away with her bad behavior now. I couldn't stand this episode. The only sensible characters in this entire thing was Sabine, Adrien, and Tikki! No one else! Plus, Chat Noir was a victim. He was needlessly attacked by Tom for basically nothing!
6:10 ! That's exactly why I hated this episode so much! He freaking knows she lives there! She could've just simply said "I live here. My room is right there!" The inconsistencies in her intelligence just...I can't explain it. Well I can, plot convince, but still she just gets dumber. Edit: and thanks for pointing out how it seems to be that it's ok for Marianette to tell all of these lies but Layla is the most evil person in the world because she tells lies.
I feel like you read my tweet ranting about Marinette's character, how she shouldn't be with Adrien because she's infactuated with the idea of him. Even when she knows how strict his life is she shows absolutely zero sympathy or empathy towards him. She's more upset that *she* has to suffer not being able to see him because he has to live with a his strict schedule and confinement. I ship no one yet I can see anyone else being a better love interest Kagami understands because she's lived it, Chloe understands because she's witnessed it, even freaking Layla understands because she was smart enough to observe and use it to her advantage. Mari knows but it's like a wall of plot stands in the way of her comprehending it like the rest.
To be fair, the show has made it clear that marinette kind of breaks down when under stress so an argument could be made that she was so worried about what looked like Adrien nearly uncovering the truth.
@@fightingmedialounge519 the girl who can figure out how to save the day from monsters using an uncanny ability (even when she isn't lady bug) to look around her surrounding and calculate a cause and effect probability, couldn't figure out the simple answer of "duh I'm at my house. I heard noise and went to see what happened."? I could've believed that if they were somewhere else and if they had been more consistent with it. But this is just giving her an excuse to tell clumsy lies (granted in this case it's understandable) for the plot. It's lazy and contrived.
Even though I don't watch the show (jumped ship after season 1) I like watching your rundown videos. What I respect most about this channel is the consistent intelligence. Even when I disagree, you communicate your point well in a way it feels like a discussion.
As a Marichat shipper myself, your point resonates with how I feel about it. I think about how much they like each other, but then it's weird that they don't like each others' alternate forms... because I think if one personally knew Ladybug, they could see a bit of her in Marinette if they interacted with her frequently. The same goes for Adrienne, with how much Mari pines after him, and Chat Noir with whom she works. ...So, maybe it's that they don't interact much and they only saw a part of the form that they liked; it's just sour that they only see and like that part. For me, the dynamic is so weird and kinda awkward, which makes it a little fun to watch and experience because you get a whole spectrum of emotion from it. But I agree with you at least about the part of them not knowing each other well, or liking each other fully.
How Ladybug’s lucky charm works is stupid and many times it’s just plot convenience instead of it being smart . It’s stupid because it doesn’t actually work but the show pretends it works. There are very rare episodes where the lucky charm is actually smart and creative, very very rare. Not to mention the writers made her use it even when it’s not needed. In Evilillestrator when she summoned a ball that for some reason bounced to hit every light in the room ( plot convenience) when she easily and more believably could have hit every light with her yo yo. There are many times when the things she put together will never work simply because it’s against every physics law out there but it does which only can be described as plot convenience or luck which is not creative as the show is trying to pretend it’s luck and magic and therefore anyone should be able to do it.
Don't worry Doorags, the next few episodes are actually interesting, such as next one being Silencer. One of my personal favs. Than Onichan and the one I'm sure you would want to react to, Miraculer. I said this season is a weird ride and I am going by the proper order this time.
I think you unintentionally gave an answer as to why lady bug doesn't want reveal herself to cat noir and vice versa. They don't know each other out side of basic information and so to her she wouldn't feel that comfatabel given out personal information. Also I figured the whole secret identity things was more about tuxedo mask sailor moon routine again.
I think with Lila it is worse because she lies about having problems and reviecing or being a hero or being invited to a palace. The one that annoys me the most is when she gets all Mari's friends to get food for her and just do things she can do herself because she lied about having a disability. For me that annoys me the most because you can talk about how many times Mari used others but it was never to this level. The fact is some people have that disability that Lila lied about having it. Reality is I know Mari lies so much and has a really bad obsession with Adrien. But she never lied to get others to do things for her that she can easily do in that moment. Sure the other things are bad but not to the point where Lila is faking having a disability to get what she wants. For example sitting next to Adrien and having everyone bring her food to her. Reality is Lila is worse and we Al, have a eight to believe that.
4:30, I don't think it was an explanation, I think was supposed to be an add on to it as in, "Oh, I'm jealous". Than she gives him the baby and he said what he's jealous of. I wonder if there would have been a better saying than that though and just show Chat's sad face.
I was also disappointed with this episode. I feel like some people are a little hard on season 3 but weredad and the puppeteer 2 were just especially bad episodes
You think weredad treats cat noir bad (yes it does) then you are not ready for a certain episode because in that episode it makes the fight with weredad seem like a tickle fight in comparison. For the record that episode made me cry and almost had to stop watching it entirely. Its true that Adrien/cat noir has been done dirty this season and far more than anyone else tbh but here's the insane part Thomas Astruc (the creator of miraculous) says that "Ladybug and cat noir are equal."
@Marinette not really when is the last time ladybug was beaten to a pulp. When is the last time ladybug was under some sort of spell meanwhile cat noir wasn't under a spell? When is the last time Marinette suffered something? I dare you to answer all of those questions because I'll be impressed and it might convince me that they are equal.
You called out a lot of the dumb in this episode, and this was a dumb, DUMB episode, in my opinion the worst of the entire series. If it weren't for Weredad's re-appearance in Gamer 2.0, I could easily pretend this episode didn't happen. It's also telling that in this episode, the binky that was the excuse for Marinette's lie remains uncollected. Cat Noir didn't even get what he came back for! Just like Marinette never directly faced the mess she made as Ladybug. Funny, Adrien did have to face off against the Collector as Cat Noir, so why couldn't Marinette do the same for Weredad as Ladybug? It would have made more sense, in fact, for Tom to hate Ladybug in that moment more than even Cat Noir because, she was unattainable girl who was always "better" than his daughter. As you mentioned, Adrien knows Marinette and even if it's as a friend, he does care about her. He's also interacted with her as Cat Noir on occasion, so it's not like he doesn't know her. Yet throughout this episode, he acted as if she was just a random girl. Wouldn't he be more broken up bout breaking her heart? This is a girl who sits behind him in school every day. I will say unlike you, I HATE Weredad's design and I really, really hated both the fight and Weredad's powerset. If you're going to have a werewolf-themed supervillain, why is he fighting in the daylight and fighting with vines? I mean they should have just done the full guard-dog route and called him Guardad, at least, or make him an actual ogre. Using a monster as specific as a werewolf but casting a creature of the night in a daytime fight was lame. I can see if the juxtaposition is done on purpose, but it came across as sloppy. And Tom's "monster voice" was awful.

Puppeteer 2 wasn't that bad, but that scene with Marinette sexually assaulted Adrien while he was pretending to be a statue was trash.

I loved puppeteer 2. Reflektdoll was the worst then this episode and Chameleon were very bad.

@Marinette you missed the point entirely
@Marinette if the show writers treat them differently then they are not equal
@Marinette so your logic is that is okay that cat noir/Adrien gets treated like TRASH and ladybug/Marinette gets treated like royalty
@Marinette and again you missed the point
I think you will really like episode 8 because it was the most interesting concept but it still have some problems.
