    Intersting! Though I know the Fon & other ethnic groups (& on a personal level) consider Mawu to be solely female (not human obviously). But the Fon, Aja & others also consider Mawu & Lisa (the male twin, or sometimes the male counterpart to the Mawu (female source of creation) to be born from Nana Buluku the (female) god of creation. Nana Buluku before time & space. The Grand Mother of God.

    I don't know if it's a difference in dialect but in Togo we refer to Mawu Yehowah (Yahweh), but great video.

      Mawu Yehowah is a syncretism. MAWU is the Supreme God for the Ewe, Mina, Ouatsi and Fon.
      No direct connexion with Yaweh (Jehovah), Jesus or Allah, who are respectively jewish, western and arabian Gods !

    Awesome work! Also a little advice. Stop refereing to GOD as "he". I know your doing it out of abrahmic influenced habit &/or using "he" as a synonym for a genderless being, but you can see how using a male-gendered word confuses that point of conveying genderlessness. Arab Muslim & Christian European invaders & "observers" had a nasty habit of influencing & recording African perspectives, as god being male. Personally, to me god being genderless has always made the most sense. But objectively speaking, if a culture is going to force god to have a gender or refer to itself with a gendered pronoun, GOD being female makes the mot sense. It takes two humans to make life, but women do the overwhelming lion's-share of it. With that said, in Yoruba Ifa Yemoja/Yemaya is creator/preparer of the priomodial-clay (she is the metaphysical mother of all Orishas/ And the mother of humanity/the Yoruba people), Obatala a gender-fluid being- from the clay sculpted the first human bodies (sometimes Ogun is credited with sculpting the fingers), & GOD aka Olodumare a genderless being- created the immortal human spirit/soul. The Orishas are not gods-but mighty beings that came from & reflect Olodumare. Oya- is the orisha of lighting, female warriors & the guardian of the gates of death/life. Oshun- is the orisha of life-sustaining rain & "sweet waters". She is also the mother of the orishas of multiple-births the Ibeji (Shango the father). Nana Buluku is GOD in many ancient West African cultures predating the Aja, Fon, & Ewe, but she is none the less always considered the one GOD & female, not female & male or genderless. Within some religions Mawu is creator & Lisa her male twin/lover assistant. In many Akan ethnic groups GOD is Onyame (female), Onyankopon (male), & Odomankoma (the energy that keeps the trinity together). Asase Yaa is the most powerful of the abosom & is the wife of Onyankopon . She is the ruler of earth & mother of all the river-dieties. It is a lie & misconception that "Nyame" is "he" or male alone. I could go on.

    Why do you keep referring to mawu as “he” god is not a man…

    • @narn3904
      @narn3904 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      He said “he” was beyond gender. In English “he” and “she” are personal pronouns. Other than that we have “it” which is insulting. We are only guessing at the Nature of the first cause so let’s be humble.
