This clip is EVERYTHING! Been watching the PBS "Then Came You" documentary and keep coming back to this! That special was so generous in showing a bunch of classic clips without talking over them. This is one of the best!
My favorite song and her video .she does her best to prepare for the ( HOOK) that is the zenith peak experiance and let's out her rare voice from beginning to the finally and raises up to a jubliant welcome few singers ever obtaine Yes Dione your a genuine artist and beautiful human being tis. Very true !!!!❤❤ ❤ Dione h
The She deserves the 'Nobel Prize For Singing' (if there was one). Bacharach's composition here is torture to sing. The range and breath control you need here is beyond the capacity of most vocalists
Dionne never looked better or more glamorous than she does here. Her magnificent music accompanied by a great orchestra is such a joy to hear so many years later.
Then you've never seen her "I Didn't Mean To Love You" live performance in 1976 (at The Theatre de l'Empire, Paris) or her "All In Love Is Fair" She also have some amazing lookin 1961 eg Solid Gold
Her voice was at such an extraordinary pitch at this point in her - blessedly, for us - long career; it has a "tinkling" quality that she can throw from contralto to crystal like high-note tonalities - and her composure on stage, pop tunes taken to operatic quality by her persona alone - bravo, bravo, bravissimo! :-)
Dionne really had an extraordinarily large vocal range. I listen back to her earliest recordings in the 60’s and she practically lived in the soprano realm. Her voice was very flexible as it could be as gentle or as harsh as she wanted always bringing an operatic element to her singing something the drinkard/warwick/houston family is known for. Their natural classical approach that is deep rooted in traditional gospel and hymnal singing. And with dionne’s mother being a actual classical lyric soprano and her extensive training in all state choir the art of classical singing might not have been to far fetched for Dionne. Same for whitney her approach in her head voice was always operatic in quality. Very beautiful rounded notes that were bright yet warm
@@donovanrobinson1843 You put it very well - Dionne's training together with her natural gifts make for an exceptional talent that brings so much more to each of her performances of what, by a lesser talent, might be just another "pop" song; also her appearance is so striking - the beautiful couture gowns that she carries so elegantly, her posture, hand gestures -all of it - which is why, imo, she can continue to wow audiences - certainly her distinctive vocal profile is part of it, but it's really her whole uniquely gifted artistic persona - astonishing. :-)
I was introduced to Dione Warwick as a 10 YO in the 1990’s. I hated her because she was some lady hated death row records and she was some psycho tarot card freak. 😂. But she sang it best “You gonna need me, One Day” and boy i sure do.
Love dianne as so much from Spain.....love so much her song "deja vu" really its so kinda AWESOME n heavenly extra n very very smooth.... Greetings from south OF Spain...miss dionne warwick!!!
No lie that's a Hard One to answer.. because Honestly they Both were equally Awesome in their prime, they sound similar in their prime, and hell Even when their vocals began to change 💯, it's a tie for me I can't choose lol and I never thought I say that with someone compared to Whitney lol but ONLY Her Cousin can compare equally lol
Whitney. In terms of Pitch, Whitney had slightly better or equal pitch with Dee. In terms of Vibrato, Whitney outclassed Dee, her’s was more consistent, more oscillating, fuller, and more powerful. In terms of Range, Dione beat Whitney in the lows, Whitney comes on top in the Mix and Upper Belts and Head Voice. In terms of Breath Support, as impressive as Dee, Whitney has (with technique) sustained a note for nearly 20 seconds, which is longer than any note Dee has and Dee’s sustained notes are great but they’ve not been as complex. In terms of Vocal Agility, Dee is great at this aa shown in this song. You need great vocal agility to execute this song and breath control for this song but I think Whitney would be able to do this song justice as well. In terms of Power, it goes to Whitney. Musicality goes to Whitney. Technique would be a tie between both. In terms of Emotiveness, Clarity, and Resonance, Whitney also takes the cake. I could go on and on but I’ll leave it here. That said, Dee an incredible vocalist and one of the greats, such that in order for her to lose any marks, she’d have to be compared to the best of the best vocalists.
@@squarcircle2254 I would agree with most of what you said, When I take into consideration that Dionne actually had most of her best songs written around her voice ... for her voice...by an incredible song writing team, this does give her great advantage...Whitney did not have this advantage...but imagine if she did? Whitney is the better singer in prime their years.
Such a difficult song to sing - she's flawless...
Wow!!!!
R&B Money brought me here
Thee AUTHORITY!!
Whitney Houston has alot of Dionne's mannerism's
Dionne Warwick was her "musical godmother".
@@joseantoniomartin7569maybe her biological too ❤

Absolute Perfection.

Beautiful, but it just isn’t the same without Bernie Glow’s stunning trumpet solo.

I absolutely love the outfit in this segment!

What a brilliant idea! I’m willing to bet Dionne’s music has enriched millions more lives than something like superstring theory or black holes.
What a performance ❤

She always makes it looks so effortless. Incredible and that hair was laid baby
And that waist was snatched! Yet she is still able to belt out this song
That curtsy finish was bad a$$👏🏽👏🏽
There will never be a musical era like this again. What a blessing we got to experience it!!!!!
This is one the best performances of any Female vocalist that I've ever seen! Wow!!!

Yes all that you said ❤
I believe that Dionne Warwicke had to go to NYC and teach the Broadway cast how to sing this title song.
This is a very difficult song. She is perfect.
She looks amazing!!! I always new she was an unsung glamor gal but wow!!
That dress though ❤❤❤❤
What entertainment, the 70’s sure had more glamour, the orchestration, the talent, the clothes…. It all went downhill after that…
Perfect Look and Perfect Sound🔥
Great song by a fantastic composer and a wonderful singer like Dionne Warwick. I get tears every time that I hear this song. So beautiful.
In her day she was bad!
Dionne Warwicke Whitney Houston and Leontyne Price are cousins. They have singing genes.
I love this outfit too. Talk about this control though!
Wow she nailed it, so lovely so much talent and such a pretty voice.
I mean stunning‼️❤️❤️❤️
Whitney got her curtsey from ms Dionne
It's a lovely touch, isn't it?
What a performance! Bravo 👏

Man Dionne Warwick - what a great voice - amazing talent that she shared with the world
Iconic, Legendary! Queen Mother!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Sou Brasileiro e sou fã dessa criatura e sua belíssima voz.
This seems to be live, but where is her mic?
TV back in the day used a 'Boom'. I mic suspended from a type of rod, above her.
Love Dionne & Burt ❤
I luv her singing OMG
Amazing!!❤❤❤❤❤
Wow!!
