      True! And he said he understand how hard it can be to build a team (draft or trade) without messing up.
      *But* he said in french *that he didn't want to wait 7 years to [be able to] win.*
      No rush yes, no need to make desperate trades, but still don't sleep completly.

      This is a guy that grew up watching LeBron and KD leave and join superteams to win a championship. Those guys are not respected for doing that. I think he understands that if he is able to build and win a championship in S.A. it will be worth so much more. Of course if they don't do right by him, he has every right to leave. I don't see that happening. This team might be better than their record shows. They have built up large leads against good teams. They just haven't been consistent enough. I think they're going to surprise people by how fast they start winning the same way OKC did this year.

      Wemby has also said he wants to win and compete for Championship soon. You can see on his press conference how frustrated he is after losses. I’m sure his also frustrated that every month he keeps improving and getting better and his a rookie but his teammates are not. They keep doing the same boneheaded mistakes.

    ESPN again with the "Wemby wants to win right now, this is like Lebron, trade everyone right now!!". When in reality Wemby keeps saying "I want to win in San Antonio, I love this organization, I love our process, I love my teammates, I love my coach. I want to win HERE"

      How are those things contradictory? He wants to win in San Antonio so they should build around him. Plus 1) it's the fans I see most often complain about Wemby's teammates and 2) every star says they're happy in their situation what do you expect from them? 3) it's the fans that crucify a player when they don't win a ring or don't have playoff success.

    • @Marco-uh5zn
      @Marco-uh5zn 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      Yes! The NBA should appreciate the loyalty of Euros like Dirk, Tony Parker, Luka, Joker, Wemby, Giannis, way more, because Euros avoid boring winning of buddy buddy super teams in big markets, getting way too much "help" by referees to push them over the hump to make tons of tv - money, selling tons of merch etc . Loyal european players without any podcast stuff, without social media issues, keep it real and keep the sports aspect alive in the NBA.

    I hate how little ESPN knows about the other Spurs players. Devin Vassell is a super talented 3 level scorer who will average 25 ppg with 50/40/90 splits in his career. Keldon Johnson is one of the highest value deals in the league cause he is super team friendly and signed a deal like that. Jeremy Sochan had players last year say he will be a snicky all star and that he feels more like Kawhi than Draymond, and he went from not being able to shoot at all entering the league to now being an okay shooter in a year and a half. Oh also Sochan is 20, just 6 months older than Webmy, in reality the Spurs have 6 players 20-21 years old, all of which are developing by the best system in the NBA. Not every player you draft needs to be the greatest ever, some can be your role players of the future that know how to fit around Wemby. The Spurs are building a dynasty

    This is such a stupid argument. The Spurs rebuilt their roster around Duncan twice without big trades (once when Robinson was winding down his career and they brought Manu/Parker, and once as the big 3 was aging they brought multiple players in without trades to build the 2013-14 Spurs). If you can do it with Duncan you can do it with Wemby too. The Thunder were not terrible for "several, several years" after the Paul George trade. They made the playoffs the year after the trade in the Bubble Season before blowing up the team. They were bad for a grand total of 2 years after that before becoming a 40-win team last season. A two year rebuild is not what I would call being bad for several years. The Thunder were not The Process 76ers.

Believe it or not as much as Bomtemps annoys me with his voice he made a sound point of not making irrational trades to rush the process Also and by the way yeah this 2024 NBA draft is a weaker draft in terms of a franchise ceiling raiser blue chip type player however, there’s still talent in his draft. There’s complementary talent in the draft meaning that you can find maybe a secondary star to pair with Wembanyama or complement him the San Antonio Spurs. Just need to do what they’ve always done being lockstep with Wembanyama let him know that they intend on building around him to the best of their building, and they intend on competing down the line, but you can’t skip a bunch of steps because you want to fit a narrative I love the podcast but the first 30 minutes of this podcast on this particular episode was a complete waste of time SMH 🤦🏿‍♂️

    How do these so called professionals not understand the difference between okc rebuild and the spurs? Spurs won 5 chips and all of their hall of famers retired (cough Tony Parker cough). Okc had 3 mvps who all were disgruntled at one time or another and left because they never won anything. Those mvps were traded for other superstars and those superstars were traded for young stars and picks.

    I would suggest that what they really talking about the luka mavs situation. It is about threading the needle. They need to be persuade Victor to be patient to wait for the 2025 draft. Getting the second star is difficult. Unless someone gets frustrated, it will be difficult to get someone. SA have to be careful to not waste their resources or end up like Dallas unless their copying is grabbing Luka. Luka made Dallas too good too early, so they could not draft low. Wemby could do the same for SA. Also dallas messed up with brunson.

    Victor has time, he is happiest to be at the spurs!
    He will continue to progress while giving the team time to build itself. The spurs have so many assets to succeed in their construction.
    Lots of draft picks, a few tradable players (keldon johnson, collins) and a lot of money for free agency. They can very easily continue to wait, select 2 new young players this summer, and also see the 2025 NBA draft. And after the draft in 2025 go get someone in free agency. Will be free Devonte Graham (12 million), Tre Jones (9M). And they will have good contracts to release in trades like Keldon Johnson (17M), Collins (18M).
    On NBA 2k the reconstruction of the spurs is way too easy :)
    So just one more season to wait to really move up a gear to become competitive as a team for the 2025-2026 season.
    They just need to succeed in making the right choices of players to put around Victor Wembanyama.
    I'm sure all the other franchises would dream of being in this seat, even the OKC !

  • @rickyisme1230
    @rickyisme1230 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Of course Spurs can wait and slowly rebuild but you can argue with player that special you might need to treat it differently.
    He is already a top 20-25 player which is really rare to see in the NBA history just like Luka they are that good even they are so young they want to play meaningful games not tanking I think .
    I’m not saying I know more than Spurs GM but I do believe you can upgrade the roster to a level which you can fighting for playoffs.
    Playoffs bruises are real the sooner you experienced the sooner you get close a title that’s my opinion.
    I don’t know if other stars would want to join Spurs in offseason but that’s a route you can explore.
    Wemby won’t say anything but he clearly want to be in a team not expect to lose it’s depressing you know you didn’t have a chance to win.
    As a basketball fan I selfishly want to see Spurs adding pieces this offseason.

    Only VW and DV will be on big contracts in 2 years of the current team - only have so much money and can only pay so many veterans big money. The year VW gets the BIG payday and biggest contract in nba will be an interesting year for budget management but of course sas will be well planned for the economics of that year. Next big money will need to be a point guard. So KJ and JS are probably going to have to go for upcoming lesser salaried players..simply because no team can have 4-5 mega salaried players - unless these players are willing to take less money so... not likely.

    The Spurs only have 4 guaranteed years of Wemby given his rookie contract. After that, if he's eligible for a supermax extension with ither teams than the spurs, he'll defintely be looking for a situation where he can win. The Spurs have to do enough in these 4 years and be competitive enough to make him stay. The days of Tim Duncan where stars stayed with their team is long gone. I'm not sure 4 years is enough to build through the draft and get resukts, especially after year 1 is essentially over.
